Chapter 144 Late
Qi'an waited in his stone house for a long time but Xia Yueke didn't come here.
A hint of impatience gradually appeared in his deep eyes, and his originally steady breathing became slightly rapid.
He strode out of the stone house, and the stones at the door shook slightly due to his footsteps.
Standing at the door, I saw Xia Yueke walking along the winding path.
Her steps were slow, sometimes she stopped to poke the stones on the roadside with her feet, and sometimes she squatted down to smell the unknown wild flowers on the roadside.
Her ears moved from time to time, as if she was catching the movements around her. There was a faint sly smile at the corner of her mouth, and she was obviously unaware of the impending storm.
Qi'an frowned slightly, and a hint of displeasure flashed in his eyes.
He stood there quietly with his arms folded across his chest, watching Xia Yueke approach step by step.
Xia Yueke was originally still feeling proud of her "little trick", but when she saw Qi'an's stern figure standing in front of the stone house, her heart skipped a beat and her pace slowed down unconsciously.
The smile on her face froze instantly, and a hint of panic flashed in her eyes, but she quickly regained her nonchalant look and continued walking forward.
Qi An looked at Xia Yueke who was pretending to be calm and said coldly:
"You are so leisurely and leisurely that you kept me waiting for so long."
Xia Yueke pretended to be calm and responded:
"I'm just packing my things carefully. You're too anxious, teacher."
Qi An snorted lightly: "Really? I think you are deliberately delaying time."
As he said that, he turned and walked into the stone house. Xia Yuke curled her lips helplessly and followed him in, but she was still thinking about how to deal with what was going to happen next.
Xia Yueke entered the stone house, her big furry tail swinging behind her. She thought that Qi'an would definitely teach her some addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Her steps were as light as if she was dancing silently, her posture was casual and relaxed, and she didn't notice the other thoughts hidden in Qi'an's deep eyes.
Qi'an frowned slightly as he looked at her, his deep eyes brimming with thoughts. Long before Xia Yueke arrived, he had already made up his mind: he would no longer teach her the things she already knew. The many mysteries of this continent awaited her exploration; the legends of the past and the unknown knowledge were the realms she should explore.
Xia Yueke sat obediently on the small stone bench. The stone bench was cold and hard, in stark contrast to her soft fur.
In front of her was a rough stone table.
"Today, we will first study the history of the orcs."
Qi'an's voice is deep and magnetic, like an echo that transcends time and space.
He turned around, his sleeves drawing a graceful arc in the air, and his slender fingers picked up a rune tablet on the podium.
"The continent we're on is vast and boundless, divided into the East and West. The East is flat and open, mostly covered with vast grasslands and fertile plains. It's one of the main settlements of the orc tribes."
"The Western Continent is crisscrossed with mountain ranges, nestled within the mysterious Misty Forest. Shrouded in thick fog year-round, the forest hides countless unknown dangers and rare treasures. At the southern end of the continent lies the boundless Blue Crystal Sea, its waters deep and azure, home to enormous and ferocious sea beasts."
Xia Yueke's drooping ears instantly stood up, her eyes widened, curiosity and concentration flashed in her eyes.
She leaned forward slightly, and her furry tail unconsciously rested on the edge of the stone bench and stopped swinging, as if she was afraid that any movement would disturb Qi'an's narration.
As Qi'an spoke, her mouth opened slightly, revealing her pointed teeth.
It turns out that orcs have such a history!
Qi An paused and continued:
"The orcs' ancestors' journey across this continent was fraught with hardship. In the early days of the Eastern Continent, sandstorms were frequent, but with their perseverance and will to survive, they persevered through the wind and sand and gradually established their home."
"While exploring the Western Continent, the Misty Forest presented numerous challenges. Once, an orc encountered a powerful beast. Its agility darted through the forest, its claws sharp. Yet, our ancestors were fearless and fought it to the death, spilling blood in the forest and along the shores of the Blue Crystal Sea. To secure seafood, our ancestors also engaged in prolonged battles with the sea beasts, ultimately establishing themselves on the seashore through their wisdom and courage."
Xia Yueke has long since changed from being careless at the beginning to being fully focused now.
Xia Yueke was extremely interested in the matter of the Saint. As for other beast histories, they were merely a pastime for her in her spare time. She just ignored them for fun.
Her bright eyes rolled around as she thought to herself that as the hall master, Qi An must know a lot about the Saint.
It would be better to ask him directly now, maybe it can solve the long-standing curiosity in my heart.
"Master Qi'an," Xia Yueke tilted her head slightly, her eyes gleaming with anticipation, her voice clear and crisp.
"Can you tell me more about the Saint? I've been hearing so many people talking about her every day lately, and my heart feels like it's being scratched by a kitten's claws. It's itchy. Please, please, tell me more!"
Qi'an was originally immersed in his own endless narration, and those stories about animal history flowed out of his mouth continuously, as if they would never stop.
However, when he heard Xia Yueke's sudden request, his body suddenly stiffened, as if he was cast under a spell. The originally lively expression on his face froze in an instant, as if time had stopped at that moment.
He looked at Xia Yueke with a complicated look. After a moment of silence, he slowly spoke, his voice carrying a subtle hint of hesitation and evasion:
"The Saint died within a hundred years. Although she left a deep mark on the history of beastmen, she taught the beastmen how to use numbers and language, and also taught them how to weave, store, and make salt... But you only need to understand her story."
Xia Yueke carefully sorted out the stories about the saint that he had heard before in his mind, and felt that he had a general understanding of the situation.
Yet, at this moment, she was preoccupied with the more intimate and tender side of the Saint's mysterious aura—did she have any relatives in this world? Or perhaps, did she have a companion who could walk hand in hand with her and share the world's beauty?
A hint of gossip flashed across Xia Yueke's bright and lively eyes. She leaned forward slightly, and the angle of her body just showed her inner anxiety at the moment. She opened her lips slightly, her voice was crisp and pleasant, and her tone was full of irrepressible expectation.
"Master Qi'an, where are the Saint's family? Where are they? Tell me about them quickly."
Qi'an was immersed in his own story when he was suddenly hit by Xia Yueke's question. His eyes were flustered for a moment.
