Chapter 279: Abandoned at Birth

Chapter 279: Abandoned at Birth

In the beautiful fantasy of the future, Xia Yueke gradually fell asleep and had a good nap.

Who would have thought that in the next three or four days, Lang Ce seemed to have disappeared from the face of the earth, with no news at all.

Xia Yueke's initial patience gradually turned into anxiety, and finally she even became a little impatient. She would walk to the cave entrance from time to time to look around, muttering to herself:

"When will this Lang Ce come back?"

Finally, on the sixth day of Xia Yueke's agonizing wait, Lang Ce returned with his men. As soon as Lang Ce showed up, the entire team erupted in deafening cheers.

"The boss found another great place. Maybe we can move there soon!"

"Besides, the boss has already figured out the nearby tribes, ethnic groups, and the terrain!"

More than twenty newly recruited stray orcs also integrated into the group, and everyone seemed to get along harmoniously.

As soon as Lang Ce returned to the camp, he eagerly searched for Xia Yueke in the crowd.

But after searching around, he couldn't find her. His face instantly darkened, and he roared viciously, "Where's that female? Didn't I tell you to keep an eye on her?!"

Seeing this, Mantismon hurried forward tremblingly: "Boss, she's in the house!"

Lang Ce's expression relaxed a little, but with a bit of nervousness that he himself was not aware of, he asked:

"How is she? Is she feeling unwell?!"

The mantis beast shook its head repeatedly, its voice trembling:

"No, Boss. We've been keeping an eye on her, and she's fine. If she seems even slightly unwell, we'll definitely call the witch doctor right away!"

Lang Ce nodded, then seemed to suddenly come to his senses and slapped his head hard in annoyance.

The cub in her belly wasn't his, so why was he so concerned about her? If he wasn't afraid of hurting the little fox, he really wanted to get rid of the cub in her belly right now!

Lang Ce had a gloomy face. He pushed through the crowd roughly and strode towards the cave.

As soon as I entered the cave, I saw Xia Yueke sleeping obediently, with her slightly flushed cheeks showing a bit of innocence.

Lang Ce looked at this scene, and his expression softened unconsciously for a moment, but when his eyes fell on her slightly bulging belly, his eyes instantly became fierce and sinister.

Xia Yueke was sleeping soundly when she suddenly felt a burning and malicious gaze that cut through her body like a knife and finally pierced her stomach.

She woke up suddenly, and when she saw that it was Lang Ce, she widened her eyes in horror, subconsciously hugged her stomach, and quickly sat up.

"You're back? Can you let me go now?"

Xia Yueke's voice was trembling, mixed with a hint of anticipation.

Lang Ce sneered, and that laugh made people's hair stand on end:

"Who told you I was going to let you go? Do you think you could get away?"

Xia Yueke was shocked and said in disbelief:

"But I'm already pregnant. What? Do you still want to raise someone else's child?"

Upon hearing this, Lang Ce's eyes instantly became as sharp as a knife, and the aura around him suddenly turned cold.

He stepped over to the bedside and slowly placed his hands on Xia Yueke's shoulders. The force was not strong, but it brought with it an oppressive feeling that could not be escaped. He leaned forward slightly, his voice low and suppressed, as if he was trying his best to restrain the surging emotions in his heart:

"Do you think I would keep this cub that doesn't belong to me?"

His face was almost touching Xia Yueke's, his eyes flashing with a crazy and dangerous light, "Who said I want to raise it? When you give birth, I will throw this cub into the wilderness to feed the wild beasts!"

Xia Yueke widened her eyes in horror, tears welling up in her eyes:

"You! You're a lunatic. This is impossible. I will never let you hurt my child!"

When Lang Ce saw her like this, he felt a strange emotion in his heart, but when he thought of the child that did not belong to him, his eyes became cold again.

"You have no right to refuse. From the moment I brought you back, I have the final say in everything you do."

Xia Yueke felt that Lang Ce's cruelty was beyond her imagination. How could there be such a cruel person? Tears flowed uncontrollably, wetting her clothes. Her long eyelashes were covered with tears, making her look extremely pitiful.

Lang Ce's brows were twisted into a knot. Deep in his heart, anger was burning, but that inexplicable softness in his heart was spreading like wild weeds. The fierce conflict between the two emotions made his heart a mess.

He gritted his teeth, puffed up his cheeks slightly, tried to make himself more resolute, and raised his voice unconsciously:

"Don't cry!" There was a hint of panic in the roar that he himself had not noticed.

Xia Yueke slowly raised her head and looked straight at Lang Ce. There was anger and unwillingness in her eyes, but more of it was deep despair.

Lang Ce felt uncomfortable under her gaze, and the softness in his heart became more and more violent, almost drowning his reason.

He suddenly let go of Xia Yueke's shoulders as if he was scalded, and took a step back in panic.

"Don't waste your breath. My decision won't change."

Lang Ce emphasized again, but although his voice was still firm, it trembled slightly, as if he was pretending to be calm, revealing his inner hesitation and panic.

Lang Ce looked at her and felt a pang of pain in his heart. He was afraid that if he stayed any longer he would really become soft-hearted, so he turned around abruptly and strode towards the cave entrance.

He pushed the door of the cave open with force and rushed out. The sunlight outside shone on him, but it could not dispel the complicated emotions in his heart.

He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down, but Xia Yueke's desperate cry kept echoing in his ears and could not be shaken off.

Xia Yueke stared at Lang Ce's departing back, and the anger in her heart could no longer be suppressed. She swung her arm and swept everything on the table to the ground.

"Impossible! Lang Ce, stop dreaming! I will never let you hurt the cub!"

Her voice trembled, filled with resolute anger, and echoed in the empty space.

At noon, Xia Yueke was filled with resentment and could not swallow a single mouthful of food. He dragged his heavy steps to the bed and lay down powerlessly, feeling exhausted both physically and mentally. He stared at the ceiling of the cave with empty eyes, his heart full of worry for his cub.

On the other side, Lang Ce heard that Xia Yueke had not eaten lunch. The corners of his mouth curled up slightly and he chuckled softly, "Oh, interesting. Does she think this can make me change my mind?"

Then, he casually played with the animal bone in his hand, his eyes full of indifference, and after a moment he spoke slowly:

"Forget about not eating. Wait until she is extremely hungry and see how long she can hold on."

After saying that, he plunged headfirst into the resettlement of the newly arrived stray animals.
