Chapter 315: The Frightened Orc
After these females were arranged, Lang Ce directly ordered his men to clean up the battlefield.
It just so happened that they had just returned to Wandering Valley and had no place to live, so now they were back to their old nest.
Xia Yueke walked up to the female and said, "You can stay here for now. When your injuries are healed, go back. There are nice rooms over there."
Nana nodded and thanked him, then went to rest with the other females.
At this moment, a roar was heard from afar.
There seemed to be a conflict, and Xia Yueke immediately ran towards the place where the sound came from.
They saw thirty or forty orcs looking at their group with hatred.
Most of these orcs were hunched over, with messy and dry hair tangled together in strands, covered with dust and dried blood.
Some of the orcs had drooping, lifeless ears, their edges covered with ugly scars from being torn and then healed.
Their skin was mottled, with layers of new and old wounds overlapping.
The skin on the old wounds had scabbed over and was dark in color, while the new wounds had flesh and blood turned inside out. Bright red blood was still slowly oozing out, sliding down the limbs and dripping onto the ground beneath their feet, mixing with the dust to form a shocking mud.
One of the deer orcs had trembling legs as he supported his bony body. His once lively deer eyes were now filled with panic and anger, with dark bruises around his eye sockets, like the marks left by a long beating.
His antler was broken, the broken end was jagged, and the exposed bone part was stained red with blood, which was evidence of the violence he suffered for resisting when he was forced to work.
There was also a monkey-half-orc huddled at the edge of the team, his arms covered with whip marks that left his skin torn and flesh exposed. The marks from the whips were so deep that the bones were visible, and each wound told of the cruel treatment he had suffered.
His tail drooped limply, and much of the hair on it had been pulled out, leaving only a few sparse strands. The whole monkey looked skinny, with his ribs clearly visible, as if a gust of wind could blow him down.
The leader was a half-tiger orc with a human face and a tiger body. He roared at the orcs in front of him, "Just because we look different, you stray beasts dare to bully us like this, right? I'm telling you, we're done for now. Don't even think about dismissing us like slaves!"
The tiger half-orc's face was filled with rage, his chest heaving violently, and he exuded a dangerous aura. The orcs behind him were also tense, their eyes filled with resentment and anger.
Xia Yueke stepped forward, his expression calm but with unquestionable dignity. "Don't be impulsive, let's talk it over. What exactly happened? We can sit down and talk."
The tiger half-orc didn't appreciate it and sneered, "Talk? You didn't even think about talking before. You kept treating us like slaves. Now that we've awakened, we won't let you bully us anymore!"
Lang Ce took a step forward. His aura was no less than that of the tiger orc. He said coldly:
"You should know that it wasn't us who hurt you, and we have no intention of enslaving you. We just want to set you free. After all, you are so weak that you are not worthy of being my subordinates."
Lang Ce’s words seemed to make them very angry.
The orcs were all extremely angry, but a glimmer of hope flashed in their eyes.
The tiger orc said hurriedly:
"But you said so. If that's the case, let's go now! You don't have to chase us away!"
Under the terrified gazes of the orcs, Lang Ce remained calm and had no intention of taking action.
After the group of orcs fled in fear, Xia Yueke was the first to ask, full of doubts:
"Where on earth did they come from? Were they kept by these scorpion orcs? Why are they covered in wounds?"
Lang Ce looked normal and explained in an orderly manner:
"They are all half-orcs enslaved by the scorpion orcs. They live in poor conditions and have been living in simple huts in the open air. Mantis heard their movements when he passed by just now, but he didn't expect them to react so violently."
Xia Yueke seemed to be thinking about something, and subconsciously touched his chin, and analyzed:
"I guess they must have seen the corpse of the scorpion orc and decided that we were more ferocious than those stray beasts. They were worried that we would do something even more brutal, so they rose up in resistance."
Luo Cihe frowned slightly, without commenting, with a strange expression:
"They're like frightened birds. If they were to be seen by other stray animals, they would most likely be captured and enslaved."
Xia Yueke couldn't help but sigh, the shocking wounds on the orcs emerged in his mind, and he asked distressedly:
"What on earth did those stray animals do to them? How could they hurt them like this?"
At this time, Qian Jingyao walked quickly from the crowd, raised his hand and gently rubbed Xia Yueke's head, his face full of sympathy:
"They were used as cheap labor by stray animals. They were given all the dirty work and poor food. I guess they were captured by force and tortured."
After hearing this, Xia Yueke felt a pang of pain in her heart, and a flicker of determination flashed in her eyes:
"We can't just watch them fend for themselves. In their current condition, they simply can't survive in this world where the strong prey on the weak."
Lang Ce couldn't help but sneered and said helplessly:
"Little fox, you're oversimplifying things. Putting aside their hostility towards us, let's just say we're just stray animals. Why would they believe we're any different from the others?"
Xia Yueke was speechless for a moment, but after thinking about it carefully, it was indeed true.
The orcs had been adamant, and even if she tried to persuade them, they wouldn't necessarily listen. Helplessly, she suppressed her desire to help them and threw herself into building their new home.
Everyone worked together to clean up all the items used and leftovers by the scorpion orcs.
Lang Ce came to the tall tree house that once belonged to the Scorpion King. As soon as he stepped in, he immediately covered his nose and retreated, his face full of disgust:
"No, the scorpion smell is too strong. I can't live here, little fox. Let's build a new house."
Qian Jingyao agreed deeply and nodded vigorously:
"I don't want to live where other stray animals have lived."
With everyone's joint efforts, a giant wooden house quickly rose from the ground.
After a whole day of hard work, a wooden house that was two or three times larger than the previous one stood before them. Xia Yueke moved in happily.
After several days of careful care, the injured females gradually recovered their strength. They traveled together and prepared to return to their tribe.
Before leaving, they looked at Xia Yueke and his group with gratitude, tears in their eyes: "Thank you, thank you so much..."
Nana was among them. Now she had shed her former coldness, her face was gentle, and her eyes were full of warmth.
Long Xiaoyu looked at them, smiled with satisfaction, and gently advised:
"Go back. Don't wander around alone in the future. Always travel under the protection of your tribe."
As the city lord, he finally did a great thing for the development of the Beast City and the orc community, and his heart was filled with a sense of accomplishment.
