Chapter 1 Sold to Human Traffickers

When Ning Zhihuan regained consciousness, she felt a pair of rough hands scratching her face, pinching and touching her like inspecting goods.

She struggled to open her eyes a crack and saw the skinny old man smiling flatteringly.

"This girl is delicate and pretty. Look at her flesh and her little butt. She'll definitely be a good fertile girl when she grows up. This is our first time doing this, so I won't ask for much. One hundred yuan, okay?"

"One hundred yuan?" the trafficker said sharply. "Mrs. Zhu, do you think I'm easy to cheat? I made inquiries before I came here. This girl is stupid. She's fourteen and can't even speak clearly. People want college graduates these days. Even if we take her, she won't sell for much. Fifty, fifty at most. If not, I'm leaving."

After saying that, the trafficker waved his hand and pretended to leave.

Old Mrs. Zhu quickly chased after him, "Why are you so angry? If a hundred is not enough, we can still talk about it. This is my darling granddaughter. Look at how fair and tender she is, you can tell how much effort I put into raising her. I would be heartbroken to sell her now. Fifty is too little, eighty, how about eighty?"

When these words were spoken, even the human traffickers laughed.

What family truly loves their child so much that they would come to her house and sell her a child? You old woman, you're so embarrassed to say that.

But this girl is really pretty. She has been doing business for so long and has never seen anyone so pretty. She is not bad at eighty.

The trafficker rolled his eyes and pretended to be embarrassed. "Ah... Let's talk about it later. It's just that my mouth is a little dry."

Seeing that there was a chance, Old Lady Zhu immediately smiled and bowed to invite the human trafficker into the main room. She took out the moldy tea leaves hidden in the cupboard, rinsed them with water, and handed them over politely.

Inside the house, Ning Zhihuan opened his eyes and sat up, looking around, his head a little confused.

It was not a hospital filled with the smell of disinfection, nor an airtight sanatorium, but a dilapidated house with mottled walls.

Where is this? Why is she here?

No, no, what’s more important is that the old woman just now wanted to sell her to human traffickers for eighty yuan?

When he thought of this, Ning Zhihuan couldn't sit still anymore.

He stood up decisively, looked towards the main room through the crack in the door, and after making sure that no one was paying attention to this side, he pushed the door open quietly, slowly moved to the main door, and put his fair and tender hands up.

Just when he was about to escape, he heard a sharp cry behind him.

"Where are you going?"

Ning Zhihuan's eyes narrowed, and without giving it much thought, he decisively unbolted the door and ran out, shouting, "Help, help! Don't sell me to human traffickers!"

The girl's penetrating cry echoed all around. It was noon at this time, and every household had returned from the fields to eat. Hearing the sound, they all came out with their bowls in hand to watch the fun.

"Isn't this the idiot from the Ning family? What happened?"

"She just screamed for help and mentioned human traffickers. What happened?"

Just as he was wondering, he saw Old Lady Zhu chasing after him with a stick, cursing fiercely: "You little loser! I coaxed you with good food and drink, and you still stole things! I'll beat you to death!"

Ning Zhihuan's expression was slightly cold. This old woman was quite shrewd.

She had just understood that she was a fool now and her words were not credible.

As expected, after hearing what Old Lady Zhu said, everyone showed an expression of understanding and looked at Ning Zhihuan with disapproval.

Seeing this, Ning Zhihuan opened his mouth and cried out "wow", tears streaming down his face like crazy, but the words he said were extremely clear.

"I didn't steal anything. It was you who wanted to sell me to human traffickers, saying I was fair and tender and good for bearing children, and that I needed a hundred yuan. When the traffickers disagreed, you backed off and asked for eighty yuan, and even treated them to tea!" She wiped away her tears, pointed at the old house, and raised her voice, "If you don't believe me, you can go and see. There's definitely tea brewing on the table!"

There was silence all around, and then louder discussions arose.

"Look at her, she doesn't seem to be lying. Old Mrs. Zhu is so cruel that she even sold her own grandson."

"Everyone knows she's obsessed with money. And I heard her grandson got a schoolgirl in town pregnant, and her parents demanded money, otherwise they'd send her grandson to the police station."

"Hiss—but how come this idiot from the Ning family speaks so fluently?"

Old Lady Zhu had no idea that this fool would dare to say that. She trembled with fear, her face ferocious as she swung her stick with a clang, hurling it at Ning Zhihuan with all her might, cursing, "You little bitch, you son of a bitch! I'll beat you to death for talking nonsense!"

A cold light flashed in Ning Zhihuan's eyes. He turned his shoulder and subconsciously raised his hand to grab the stick and put it aside.

With a "wow" sound, Old Mrs. Zhu was easily thrown to the side.

Her cloudy eyes rolled around, and she simply sat on the ground with her legs apart, slapping her thighs with her hands, and crying with her foul-smelling mouth, "Oh, someone's murdered! The idiot killed her grandmother."

Ning Zhihuan didn't care how Old Lady Zhu cried, he just stared at his hands, his eyes getting brighter and brighter.

Although Mrs. Zhu looked thin, she had been working in the fields for many years and was quite strong. It would be difficult to push her down.

And this body actually did it so easily!

In her previous life, she was born with a host of illnesses. A few coughs would make her feel like her organs were falling apart, and a single exposure to the wind would give her a cold. To combat her fragility, once she had a few assets, she sought out a professional trainer and began training. However, her health was so poor, and her strength so limited, she was lucky to only be able to achieve even a fraction of the expected effect.

In the coach's words, even if she fought with a paper man, she would be pinned to the ground and beaten.

Therefore, she was used to punching with all her strength and being laughed at for being "soft".

But I never expected that after entering this strange body, there would be such a big surprise.

You know, she is so strong now, why did she run away just now? She could have just tied up those two men and beat them up.

Old Mrs. Zhu cried for a while, and when she saw that no one blamed Ning Zhihuan, but instead pointed fingers at her, she became anxious.

She has never been to school, but she recently attended a meeting held by the village chief and learned that killing baby girls and selling children is illegal and the person will be sent to jail!

Moreover, unlike her time, nowadays, after the reform and opening up, people's lives have improved. Although the idea of favoring sons over daughters still exists, it has been greatly reduced. Nowadays, no one in the village would trade their daughters for food, and few people would exploit their daughters. In fact, those who are a little better off will even send their daughters to school.

Mrs. Zhu's inhumane behavior is highly despised by everyone.

Besides, there are basically no secrets in the village. It only takes a little thought to know that she sold her granddaughter for her grandson.

She was not afraid of going to jail, but she was afraid that after she went in, no one would take care of her wealth and she would be scolded by the gossips in the village!

Old Mrs. Zhu was a smart woman. After thinking for a while, she came up with a plan. Then her eyes rolled back and she fainted.

Ning Zhihuan shifted his gaze over and saw her chest rising and falling steadily, a smile curled up at the corner of his mouth.
