Chapter 207 The Old House on Fire

On the evening of the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, the doorbell rang.

Xu Mengyao got up and opened the door. When she saw Huang Shao standing outside, she was stunned and couldn't help but teasing him.

"Uncle Si, you've been gone for less than a month, right? The fire in the old house is really serious."

Upon hearing this, Huang Shao raised his hand and gave her a slap on the head.

"I heard from your fourth aunt that you wanted New Year's money. Why, you don't want it now?"

Xu Mengyao rubbed her head, which was aching from being hit, and yelled, "Why don't you want it? Now I need not only the New Year's money, but also medical expenses. Fourth Uncle, you're being too harsh, aren't you? How much will it cost me if you damage my smart head?"

Huang Shao looked at his niece's playful look and smiled helplessly.

"You have such a bad mind, I'd better get rid of it. Where's Xiaomei? Here's the New Year's money for you two."

As he said that, he took out two thick red envelopes from his pocket and handed them over.

"She hasn't come back yet, so I'll keep it for her first." Xu Mengyao took the red envelope without hesitation and opened it.

"Oh, Fourth Uncle, you really adapt to the local customs. You even prepared US dollars for us."

Huang Shao smiled and shook his head, saying with some pride, "This was prepared by He Ning. She said she was very happy to celebrate the New Year with you. She also said that you and Xiaomei are very skilled in cooking and prepared a very sumptuous meal."

Xu Mengyao's face showed a bit of contempt when she heard this, and she said with great disapproval: "Fourth Uncle, how can you spend your wife's money? Besides, Jenny brought us gifts when she came."

"What's the hurry? I didn't say I came empty-handed. Let's take a look."

As he spoke, Huang Shao slowly took out a check from his pocket and handed it to her.

Xu Mengyao looked at the amount on the check and looked at Huang Shao in shock.

"So much money?! Fourth Uncle wouldn't give it to me for nothing, right? What is this?"

"Didn't you say last time that you were doing financial investment on Wall Street? This money is not only mine, but also for other clients who have invested in you. Can you give me an annual return rate of 30%? If not, I will return the money to others." He said while looking at his niece's expression.

Xu Mengyao snatched the check and said confidently, "Since you've already brought the money, there's no need to return it. I've just heard some rumors recently, so you and my other valuable clients can just wait to receive the money."

Huang Shao nodded with satisfaction after hearing this and said, "Just your words are enough. Let's go."

Having said that, he got up from the sofa and left.

Hearing the door lock turn, He Ning poked her head out of the kitchen.

"You're back so early, are you done?"

Huang Shao took off his coat, walked forward, put his arms around He Ning's slender waist, and deeply inhaled the fragrance from her neck.

"I missed you so much."

After he finished speaking in a low voice, he picked up He Ning and walked towards the bedroom.

He Ning was startled by his sudden action and exclaimed: "Hey, what are you doing? Don't you want to eat? I haven't washed my hands yet."

"Eat now, I'll help you wash it." The man said vaguely, with a bit of urgency in his tone.

A few hours later, the man came out of the bedroom wearing a bathrobe.

Leaning on the balcony, he lit a cigarette. His tall and straight back showed a bit of fatigue after being satisfied. He held the cigarette between his slender fingertips. When he heard the noise and turned around, he slowly exhaled a puff of smoke.

The face hidden in the smoke, compared to the handsomeness of his youth, has added a bit of maturity and vicissitudes, revealing a stable and profound temperament.

Watching the woman get dressed again, he frowned and asked, "Where are you going?"

He Ning's voice was a little hoarse: "Go buy some medicine."

Just as he was about to turn around and leave, his waist suddenly tightened and he was lifted off the ground.

Huang Shao held the person in his arms and sat steadily on the sofa. He gently placed his big hand on her forehead to check her temperature.

"Where do you feel uncomfortable? I'll go buy you something."

He Ning pulled his hand down, her eyes somewhat evasive, and her voice somewhat awkward.

"No, I'm not feeling well. I'm buying birth control pills. You didn't wear a condom just now."

Huang Shao was stunned when he heard this and asked, "Did you eat it before?"

Seeing the woman nod, he smiled helplessly, rubbing the woman's lower abdomen gently with his palm, his eyes flashing with complex light.

"It's a shame you took the medicine after I fed you so much before."

He Ning's voice trembled slightly, and there was a hint of confusion in her eyes. "What do you mean?"

Huang Shao put away his smile and looked seriously into the woman's eyes, his tone serious and affectionate.

"He Ning, I'm already 35. My friends my age already have children in school. We've already wasted nine years. I don't want to wait any longer."

He Ning's eyes welled up slightly. They hadn't spent much time together since their reunion. They hadn't seriously discussed the future, nor the past. They'd simply squeezed in their time in bed, expressing their longing for each other over the past nine years in the most passionate and direct way possible.

Seeing that she remained silent, Huang Shao gently pinched the soft and elastic peach buttocks in his palm and asked with a smile on his face.

"When will you have time to come back to the capital with me and hold the wedding?"

He Ning's body trembled slightly, and she pouted in an angry manner.

"Are you proposing to me? Who proposes without even a ring?"

Huang Shao sighed helplessly, holding the person in his arms, bent down, opened the cabinet under the coffee table, took out a dark blue velvet box from it, and placed it solemnly in He Ning's hand, with a tone of blame and pampering.

"I bought it and put it here the day after we reunited. You've never opened it and looked at it once."

He Ning opened the box in surprise, and a dazzling diamond ring came into view.

Restraining her inner excitement, she carefully put the ring on her finger. The size was perfect. She gestured with satisfaction, her eyes sparkling with happiness.

"Does it look good?"

Huang Shao smiled and kissed her ear, his voice low and gentle.

"You look good. You are the most beautiful. So He Ning, will you marry me?"

"If I marry you, do I have to go back to my country with you to be a good wife and mother?" There was a hint of teasing in her tone, but her eyes were full of love.

Huang Shao was not angry. He just grabbed her finger, kissed and bit it, and made a firm promise with his eyes.

"No, I know what you're worried about. Wait a few more months for me. After Hong Kong City returns, I will retire from the company and be with you. My little snail, carrying a heavy shell, walked alone for nine years to realize his dream. How can I let you give up? Whether you want to continue to develop abroad or want to return to China, I will support you."

He Ning sat on the man's lap. After hearing what he said, she was moved and put her arms around the man's neck and kissed his lips. Her voice was full of emotion and determination.

"Thank you for saying that. Huang Shao, I am willing to marry you and bear your children."

It was a rare occasion for her to take the initiative, so Huang Shao pressed her under him and responded to He Ning's enthusiasm with his own actions.

Outside the window, the moonlight was like water, falling on the balcony, and in this small space, the two people's heartbeats were intertwined, and they were intoxicated by each other.
