Chapter 61 Buying a Color TV

One day, Wenxia was washing vegetables for selling dough in the yard when she saw Qiu Xin appear at the door. She skipped over to him, her eyes twinkling with stars. "Xinxin! You're finally back! Come and try the dough my grandma made. Do you want to eat it rolled up or mixed? It's your choice!"

With a smile on her face, she pulled Qiu Xin towards her home, thinking only of sharing the delicious food with her best friend, but she didn't notice the tears slowly gathering in Qiu Xin's eyes.

After waiting for a long time without hearing any answer, Wen Xia turned her head in confusion, only to see Qiu Xin's face full of tears. She was frightened and exclaimed: "Oh, what's wrong with you? Did your parents beat you?" As soon as she finished speaking, Qiu Xin's parents happened to walk into their sight. The three of them looked at each other, and there was a hint of awkwardness in the air.

Qiu Xin choked up and spoke intermittently, "My parents said that I will have to live with them in the city and can't go to school here anymore. We can't sit together anymore, wuwuwu..."

When Wenxia heard this, her eyes turned red. She held Qiu Xin's hand tightly, and tears fell in anxiety: "I don't want you to leave. I want to be your deskmate forever, wuwuwu..." The two children hugged each other and cried bitterly. Seeing this, the adults from both families came forward and tried to comfort them.

Qiu Xin's father had been allocated welfare housing through his workplace, and his mother's job had been adjusted to only require daytime work. This was the reason they decided to transfer Qiu Xin to a school in the city. After all, the quality of education there was better, and it would allow the family of three to be reunited. It was supposed to be a happy occasion, but they hadn't expected the children to react so strongly.

Xu Mengyao only said one sentence and the two tearful little ones burst into laughter: "It's okay, Wenxia can come to the city to play with you on weekends from now on!"

When the two children heard that they could see each other more often, they immediately became happy again. At night, the three sisters were lying on the bed chatting. Xu Mengyao asked Wenxia: "Xiaoxia, when we left our hometown, you were also very sad when you and Erya and Yinliang were separated. Now if I ask you to go back, are you still willing?"

Wen Xia thought for a moment and said seriously, "No, my whole family is here, and I don't want to be separated from you. I think this place is much better than my hometown."

"That's right. Sometimes separation is about pursuing a better life. Today, let me teach you again about the saying 'all good things must come to an end.'"

Huang Wenrong, who was called, had to start speaking with a hint of helplessness. The two gradually fell asleep in the gentle words of the elder sister.

As the new semester approached, Xu Mengyao was worried about her promise to Grandpa Qi and thought of Maomao, whom she hadn't seen in a while. Plus, everyone had been so busy lately that it was time for a break. So, she asked everyone to take some of the remaining merchandise from the stall home for their own use, ending her holiday stall business early.

Now, Whistle and Parrot have become the full-time owners of the noodle stall. In the next few days, she plans to enjoy herself, especially to make up for the regret that she had gone to Pengcheng many times before but did not have the chance to have a good time. After all, the hard-earned money should be used to improve the quality of life!

The next day, Huang's father took a special day off. Together with Huang's mother, they dressed up and headed to the Qi family for a warm and lively family dinner. Afterward, they brought Maomao along, and the whole family headed to Huanshi Park—a place equally unfamiliar to them, determined to explore it all!

The family leisurely sailed on the lake in a small boat, enjoying a rare moment of tranquility and harmony. On the ice rink, Huang Wenbin and Maomao glided swiftly, drawing laughter and applause. During the ring-tossing game, Xu Mengyao, with her exceptional eyesight and touch, won a string of prizes, astonishing her siblings. The pigeon-feeding area became a playground for the children. They carefully tossed their food into the air, watching the birds dance with pure joy. They played relentlessly all afternoon until the sun set. Maomao, exhausted, fell asleep in Huang Wenbin's arms, while Wenxia rubbed his eyes and yawned.

Seeing this, Xu Mengyao suggested: "Mom and Dad, you take Wenxia home to rest first. We will send Maomao back so that we can go to Pengcheng to buy some things tomorrow." Huang's father and mother gave a few brief instructions and went home with peace of mind.

Huang Wenrong was a little confused: "Juan, didn't you say you wouldn't set up a stall anymore? Why are you still going to Pengcheng?"

"I just want to go for a walk, maybe I can find something good!" Xu Mengyao smiled mysteriously.

Huang Wenbin was more practical: "Do you have enough money?"

Xu Mengyao pulled out an aluminum lunch box from her backpack and opened it in front of everyone. Inside was neatly stacked coins. Huang Wenbin gave her a thumbs-up.

Xu Mengyao, Huang Wenbin, and Huang Wenrong strolled leisurely through the streets of Pengcheng. The streets, lined with shops, were bustling with activity, even more bustling and noisy than those surrounding the city. They devoured steaming, freshly baked meat buns while asking passersby where the most comprehensive shopping mall in Pengcheng was. After some inquiries, they boarded a three-wheeled motorcycle and headed straight for the Dibei Shopping Mall in northern Pengcheng.

The mall was bustling with people, with long lines forming in front of every counter. The dazzling array of goods was overwhelming. Huang Wenbin and Huang Wenrong, like two curious kittens, excitedly flitted between the counters, each item filled with curiosity and wonder. Meanwhile, Xu Mengyao, with a clear goal in mind, weaved through the crowd, her gaze fixed firmly on the section selling televisions.

Finally, amid the clamor, she found a TV counter surrounded by a crowd. Inside, more than a dozen televisions were neatly arranged, flashing alluring lights. Excited, she squeezed forward and joined the queue behind a young couple.
