Chapter 166 I'm Not Such a Beast

Mu Ruanruan and Jiang He have been together for a while, but they have never been in the same room together.

The bed was not wide, only about 1.2 meters. In the hot summer, there was no need for any bedding. Just a mat and a simple blanket would be enough, which they brought with them.

After lighting the mosquito repellent incense, Mu Ruanruan lay on the bed, feeling a little nervous.

Next door is Ruan Daning and Qi Juan's room. It is quiet and there is no sound at all.

Jiang He pushed the door open and came in, his slippers clacking on each other's feet. In the dead of night, the sound was particularly abrupt.

"Jiang He," she stood up, "How about we set up a tent?"

Not only was she not ready to share a room, but she was also not ready to sleep in the same bed.

Jiang He said without thinking: "No need."

Mu Ruanruan thought he wanted to sleep on the bed, and suddenly a wave of heat rushed up, making her face hot. She stammered: "Um, I, we, um, I'm not ready yet."

Jiang He paused, his hand that was moving the stool stopped in mid-air, and he turned to look at her with an unfathomable expression.

After a while, he said with a smile: "Your hand is injured, I am not such a beast."

He placed two stools side by side and said, "I'll just lie down here."

After putting the stool away, he didn't lie down on it immediately. Instead, he slowly walked to the bed with his slippers clacking on his feet. The sound of his slippers seemed to step on her heart.

She was already feeling a little embarrassed because of her overthinking, and now his approach made her even more embarrassed, so much so that she wanted to dig her hole and run away.

The smell of alcohol was overwhelming. Jiang He had drunk a little too much, but his walking and other movements were still normal. Mu Ruanruan couldn't tell whether he was drunk or not.

Jiang He sat down on the edge of the bed. Under the influence of alcohol, his face and neck were a little red. Mu Ruanruan stepped back, but he put his arm around her waist. When his nose was about to touch hers, he spoke: "What are you thinking about?"

Mu Ruanruan knew in her heart that the other party was teasing her, and the charming feeling that had risen in her heart now disappeared completely.

She pushed him away, lay down directly, and pulled the blanket to cover herself, "I'm going to sleep, you go lie down too."

After a while, Jiang He laughed sullenly and walked to the stool, lying down, muttering, "Coward."

Maybe it was because she ate too much and didn't take a walk, there was no entertainment in the evening, and there was not even electricity, so she went to bed early and couldn't sleep.

She was afraid that turning over would disturb Jiang He, so she endured it and only turned over quietly when she could no longer bear it.

Every time this happens, she especially misses the modern things, mobile phones and the Internet being the two most tempting things. She didn't experience much in the era when there was no electricity.

Even Sheung Shui Village was later connected to electricity.

She tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep. She turned over so many times that she accidentally pressed her hand. She cried out in a suppressed voice, but Jiang He still heard the noise.

"What's wrong?" he asked, his voice groggy, probably because he had just been woken up by her.

He and Ruan Daning had been busy all day and must be extremely tired.

Mu Ruanruan hurriedly said: "It's okay, just a mosquito."

"This mosquito is quite poisonous." He muttered to himself and moved the mosquito repellent incense a little closer to Mu Ruanruan, then went back to lie down.

Mu Ruanruan still couldn't sleep.

It was still quiet next door, and the whole village was quiet, with only the croaking of frogs.

In a daze, Mu Ruanruan seemed to be asleep, but also seemed not to be asleep. Finally, she woke up completely, woken up by the urge to urinate.

It was still dark outside. There were no curtains in front of the window, so it was covered with a piece of cloth. The cloth was not wide enough, and dots of starlight could be seen on both sides.

The frogs croaked as usual.

Mu Ruanruan wanted to go to the toilet, but she didn't dare to go alone. The toilet in Aunt Liu's house was in a corner at the back of the house and it was pitch black.

But this kind of thing was really unbearable. As he was tossing and turning, Jiang He turned around in a daze and said:

"Does your hand hurt?"

Mu Ruanruan felt very ashamed, but had no other choice. She covered her head with the quilt and said, "I want to go to the bathroom."

Jiang He didn't hear clearly, so he stood up, took out a flashlight from his bag, and pulled back the quilt to check her hand.

"Be good, let me see."

The quilt was pulled open, and Mu Ruanruan's face was flushed. He thought she had a fever, so he reached out and touched her forehead, then touched his own, and muttered, "It's not hot."

Mu Ruanruan closed her eyes and said, "I want to go to the bathroom."

It made Jiang He laugh.

On the way back, Jiang He was still laughing silently.

He went out the back door with a flashlight. Mu Ruanruan walked in front, feeling a little unhappy and walking a little fast.

The light came from behind, and was sometimes blocked by her own shadow. She couldn't see the road clearly, accidentally kicked a stone, and fell forward.

Jiang He hurriedly grabbed her, and her back hit his hard chest. The flashlight light could not be controlled for a moment and shone everywhere.

"I'm fine, please stop taking pictures. I'm afraid you'll wake them up." She quickly stood up and broke free from him.

When the two of them touched just now, his breath sprayed on the side of her face, and now it was like a flame, burning her.

When passing by Ruan Daning's room, she didn't care about the movement inside, and hurried back to the room to lie down, covering her head with a blanket, for fear that he would notice that something was wrong with her.

"It's so hot today, are you planning to suffocate yourself?" He came in, turned off the flashlight, and said while yawning as he walked towards the stool.

Mu Ruanruan ignored him and turned over to face inside. The blanket was still pulled over her head, but with her back facing him, her face and nostrils were exposed.

The air became quiet again.

There was indeed a noise in the next room, she was not mistaken just now.

There were faint sounds of low voices and occasional moans.

Qi Juan succeeded?

Thinking about what was happening next door made Mu Ruanruan's heart beat wildly.

"What's wrong with you?" Jiang He's voice suddenly appeared beside the bed, scaring her.

"You are sick, coming here suddenly."

Jiang He didn't know why Mu Ruanruan suddenly got angry, but he didn't care. He still asked her if she was feeling unwell because she looked hot and her face was red.

Mu Ruanruan opened his outstretched hand and wrapped herself tightly in the blanket.

"Are you really okay?"

The weather is so hot, but she is wrapped so tightly, which doesn't look normal at all.

She replied to him with a nasal tone: "It's okay, you go to bed soon, I'm tired and want to sleep."

The noise next door was louder, and even Qi Juan's cries could be heard.

The noise was quite loud, but luckily Uncle Liu was sleeping in the room opposite, separated by a hall, so he should not have heard it.

The voice was very small, and the other party was obviously suppressing it, but the more he suppressed it, the greater the impact.

Finally, Mu Ruanruan fell asleep. She was too nervous to sleep in the first half of the night, and now she was too tired to fall asleep.

She didn't move, and after her breathing became even, Jiang He stood up, pulled her quilt open a little, took a towel to wipe the fine beads of sweat on her forehead, and pushed away the few strands of hair that had fallen on her forehead.

He sat by the bed for a long time, then kissed the corner of her mouth before lying back down on the stool.
