Chapter 20 Next time you cook

When Mu Ruanruan finished cooking the meat and eggs, Jiang He had also kneaded the dough and took it to the kitchen to cut.

Mu Ruanruan put on gloves again and took out the meat that had been cooked. The eggs were not cooked enough, so she continued to cook them inside.

Jiang He's family only has one knife, so wash it and cut the noodles first.

Mu Ruanruan was watching him cut the noodles. He flattened the dough and then cut it into strips with a knife.

"Jiang He, you know a lot." Mu Ruanruan felt that being quiet was too awkward, so she tried to find a topic to chat.

Jiang He didn't answer, and his expression didn't change, but his hands were noticeably lighter as he cut the noodles.

Mu Ruanruan could only cut the meat after he finished using the knife, and Jiang He stared at her.

"What's wrong? Did you cut it wrong?"

"No."

"oh."

Mu Ruanruan thought to herself, this guy is really a dull person, he can't even carry on an awkward conversation, and the whole day was ruined by him in less than three sentences.

Living with him would be suffocating.

After cutting the meat, Mu Ruanruan took out the eggs, set them aside to cool before peeling them, and started washing the pot.

Jiang He came over to help her: "Let me do it, you go watch the firewood."

Mu Ruanruan was determined to show off her skills, so how could she be willing to just watch the firewood burn? After Jiang He finished washing the pot, she still insisted on cooking the braised pork herself.

Jiang He didn't insist anymore and went to watch the fire.

Mu Ruanruan silently recited the steps and began to add oil. Her mind was on this dish and she didn't notice that the little bit of oil in her hand was all the oil in Jiang He's family.

The braised pork was very oily, so she poured out all the oil.

Jiang He's hand trembled noticeably as he added firewood, but he didn't say anything.

She also needed to add some rock sugar to make the sugar color, so she took out a bag of rock sugar from her bag.

Jiang He: “…”

He noticed just now that the little girl's bag was like a treasure chest, containing everything.

After eating a few pieces of rock sugar, Mu Ruanruan watched it melt without blinking. When it turned a little brown, she quickly put the meat in.

There was a burst of "crackling" sounds, and Mu Ruanruan was so scared that she took several steps back. Fortunately, she was wearing gloves, so she was not splashed by the oil.

The steps were correct, but the meat didn't get any color.

"Forget it, just add some soy sauce. Jiang He, do you have soy sauce at home?"

Taking out a bottle of soy sauce from a bag is a bit scary.

Jiang He was used to seeing her taking things out, but when she asked him for soy sauce, he was still a little uncomfortable, so he stood up and gave her the soy sauce.

"That's right."

Mu Ruanruan poured some soy sauce, added some salt, and stir-fried it for a few times.

"Very good, let's color it. What's next? Oh, I forgot to put the ginger in. Jiang He, do you have any ginger at home?"

Jiang He gave her some more ginger.

Mu Ruanruan continued to stir-fry while muttering: "Next, it's time to add water, yes, add water."

"Are you reciting something?" Jiang He finally couldn't help but ask, "Is this your first time making this dish?"

Although this wasn't Mu Ruanruan's first time making this dish, she hadn't done it many times either, and her movements were very unfamiliar. She honestly said, "This is my third time. I just don't make it often and it's been so long that I forgot the steps. I just reviewed it several times, so there's nothing wrong with it. It should taste good."

Jiang He said "hmm".

After simmering for a while, Mu Ruanruan was the first to taste a piece. The taste was a bit strange, but overall it was not bad. I hadn't eaten meat in a long time, and I thought it was quite delicious.

She felt that it was much more successful than the previous two times, both in terms of color and taste, so she couldn't wait to ask for praise. Without thinking, she also picked up a piece for Jiang He and handed it to his mouth: "Jiang He, try it quickly, it tastes very good."

Jiang He was stunned for a moment, lowered his eyes and opened his mouth to take the meat that was handed to him.

"Is it delicious?" Mu Ruanruan's eyes widened, and she looked at him intently, waiting for his evaluation.

"Yes," he said.

He was not lying. Such a big piece of meat with a lot of oil would be delicious even with simple seasonings, not to mention that Mu Ruanruan also added a lot of other things.

After eating this piece, Jiang He still felt a little unsatisfied.

The glutton in Jiang He's stomach was aroused and his belly growled.

"Are you hungry? Why don't you eat some meat first? The noodles will be ready soon." After receiving the praise, Mu Ruanruan cooked the noodles more happily, as if she had completely forgotten the awkwardness between the two of them. She greeted Jiang He naturally, as if she was the host here.

Jiang He: “No need.”

Cooking noodles is much simpler. Just add water and cook the noodles. Then take them out when they are cooked. Although the movements are still clumsy, it is much better.

Next is to peel the eggs.

I don’t know if it was because they were not cooked well, but the eggs were difficult to peel and fell into pieces.

"Haha, just eat it reluctantly."

"Um."

There was too much noodles, so I scooped out two large bowls, and there was still half a pot left: "Or, let Jiang Xiaotao come over and have some."

After saying this, Mu Ruanruan suddenly remembered the purpose of this trip. She glanced at Jiang He and saw that he looked normal, so she secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Jiang He: "No need. The child is ignorant and it would be bad for him to see you here."

Yes, I originally came here to clear up the misunderstanding. If Jiang Xiaotao spreads rumors outside and starts spreading them again, wouldn’t that just add to the chaos?

It was just because I successfully cooked noodles for the first time. I felt such a sense of accomplishment and was so happy that I didn’t think about anything else but just wanted to share it.

But there are so many that we can’t finish them all.

"Or, you can send some over."

Jiang He took a look at the pot of noodles and did not refuse.

Mu Ruanruan picked up two large bowls of noodles, put a lot of meat on each, and gave each of them an egg.

"No need to put so much." Jiang He said.

"It's okay, there's still a lot left, we can't finish it."
