Chapter 42 Threatening Wang Lanhua

The weather in early autumn is already cold, and with the recent heavy rain, the water in the fields and puddles is quite deep.

Wang Yue'e was already a bit fat, and her legs were not flexible. When she rolled down, she couldn't exert any strength at all, and rolled directly into the largest puddle.

The water surged up in an instant, almost drowning her, and a lot of mud and water entered her ears, nose and throat.

Seeing this, the people who worked with her immediately dragged her up, but she still choked on the water several times and it took her a long time to recover.

Several strong men carried her home, and several women changed her clothes and used several hot water bottles to warm her bed.

Wang Yue'e was still shivering in bed.

Several people found another quilt in her room and covered her with it. After a while, Wang Yue'e gradually regained consciousness.

A severe cold was inevitable. If one had a good physical condition, one could recover in a few days. However, Wang Yue'e had just injured her leg, and in order to earn work points, she refused to rest for too long, which had already injured her body. Now after this incident, it was hard to say whether she would be left with any underlying illness.

Everyone here was helping to look after Wang Yue'e. Knowing that she was very dependent on Mu Ruanruan, they asked someone to call her, but she was not at home.

Because of the photo, Mu Ruanruan came to the Li family several times, but Wang Lanhua avoided her.

But this matter has been delayed for a long time, and Mu Ruanruan doesn't want to delay it any longer.

Li Dazhu refused to give in and insisted that she move in before he would give her the photos. Mu Ruanruan then shifted her target to Wang Lanhua.

Li Dazhu's house is next to farmland, with bamboo planted behind it, and a section of the courtyard wall has collapsed.

Mu Ruanruan walked through the fields, through the bamboo forest, and came to the collapsed wall. She grabbed the moss-covered mud bricks and climbed in.

Wang Lanhua is feeding chickens in the backyard.

When she met Mu Ruanruan, she was putting the mixed bran into the chicken trough. She paused for a moment, then continued to pour all the bran in.

The bamboo forest covered the houses, blocking most of the sunlight, leaving only some spots of light.

In a while, those who had finished their early morning work would be back, and Mu Ruanruan didn't have much time left.

"Auntie, I know the things are with you. I didn't come here today to take anything back. I just wanted to take a look at the photo."

Wang Lanhua sat in the shade, her face, covered with wrinkles due to her age and miserable life, dark and desolate.

She had a blank expression on her face, but the sadness between her brows could not be hidden.

A strand of hair fell on her mouth, but she didn't reach out to brush it away. She just sat there quietly, motionless, like a sculpture.

"Auntie, the person in the photo is very important to me. He might be my grandmother's husband when she was young."

Hearing this, Wang Lanhua's eyelids trembled slightly.

"More than 40 years ago, he went out to fight in the war and never returned. Some people say he's dead, but my grandmother doesn't believe it. This is the only photo of him."

Wang Lanhua spoke up: "Since he's dead, why are we still looking for him?"

"Grandma thinks he's not dead yet."

Wang Lanhua stopped talking again, held the back of the chair, stood up and prepared to go into the house.

Seeing this, Mu Ruanruan ran over and gently pulled her: "Auntie, this photo is really important to me. Can you let me see it, just one look?"

Wang Lanhua used her other hand to force Mu Ruanruan apart and walked into the house without looking back.

Mu Ruanruan followed behind.

She said, "Don't follow me. I won't help you."

"Auntie, you clearly promised to help me find it last time."

Before Wang Lanhua could react, she heard two "clangs" from the front room, the sound of farm tools being thrown to the ground.

Are you done with work at this point?

It's a little earlier than usual today.

Wang Lanhua was trembling all over, her face was pale, and there were some sweat beads on her forehead. She turned around suddenly and stared at Mu Ruanruan, with all kinds of emotions in her eyes, fear, hatred and pleading.

Fear, that is the fear of Li Dazhu and his son.

He was begging her to leave quickly. If she was caught by Li Dazhu and his son, she would inevitably be scolded again.

Mu Ruanruan didn't know what Wang Lanhua had really experienced at this time, and thought that she was just scolded at most.

But she couldn't understand that hatred.

Mu Ruanruan had no grudge against her. They had only been together for a short month over a year ago. Where did the hatred come from?

"Give me the photo."

Mu Ruanruan had no intention of leaving and spoke to Wang Lanhua using lip language.

She came here on time today, knowing that Li Dazhui and the others would finish work and go home soon. She originally wanted to try to persuade Wang Lanhua.

But I didn't expect that they would come back early.

Then she had to move her plans forward.

Only then did Wang Lanhua realize what Mu Ruanruan wanted to do. She was not here to discuss things with her, but to threaten her.

Use Li Dazhu and his son to force her to agree.

Wang Lanhua put on a pitiful look again. In her previous life, whenever something happened, she would act like a victim and win people's sympathy.

The original body was very vulnerable to this trick.

Wang Lanhua likes to win the sympathy of others, but never sympathizes with others.

She watched her suffer and be bullied, and never said a word, condoning all the violence with her usual silence.

Now, Mu Ruanruan is no longer the same Mu Ruanruan. She calmly watched Wang Lanhua pretending to be pitiful and trembling as she begged her.

Mu Ruanruan raised her chin, indicating that Li Dazhu and his son were coming over.

"Mom, is the meal ready?"

Li Dazhu came over.

Wang Lanhua trembled even more violently, with sweat pouring down her forehead.

Mu Ruanruan remained calm and just secretly put the electric baton in a convenient place.

"How is it, Auntie?" Mu Ruanruan asked again using lip language.
