Chapter 67: Need a Dog to Guard the Door

It was already the next day when Su Qing heard about these things.

Early in the morning, without even having time to eat breakfast, I rushed to the old He family's house excitedly.

Oh my god, it burned so cleanly. It will probably take a month or so to rebuild it.

Looking at the beams still smoking in front of him, Su Qing couldn't help but smile.

"Oh, what a sin! We just had a fight yesterday, and the fire started last night. Did we offend the ancestors of the He family?"

"What a joke! They invited their ancestors to their new home long ago when they moved."

"Tsk, that's not the He family's territory. Maybe the He family's ancestors are angry about this."

"Where will these people live? This house won't be built soon."

"The village chief said, let's see who still has a good house and squeeze in."

"Who can live here comfortably? It's just a tiny piece of land. It's good enough if my family can live there comfortably."

"What are you worrying about? It has nothing to do with us. The ones who should be worried about are those with big fortunes and big businesses."

"I remember that Su Qing's house was quite big, and her family wasn't that big, so maybe we could squeeze in and live there."

"That's a haunted house. Do you dare to go there? It really is."

"It's better than living in the wilderness. Really, let me tell you, the place where Su Qing lives was once where a wealthy landlord lived. Even if not everyone lives there, at least half of them can live there."

Seeing that the melon had reached his head, Su Qing was afraid that the people who were still chatting would cue him, so he left quietly.

As she walked, she thought, she didn't want to live with these people. They were all so pretentious. Wouldn't that be like inviting a bunch of ancestors home to serve her?

Who knew that even though she tried so hard to reduce her presence, she would still be targeted.

Su Che and Wen Li went to the mountains to chop firewood, and there was very little firewood left at home.

The Su Qianfan brothers followed their new friends to catch river shrimps. Su Qing also specifically asked them to catch more snails because she was greedy again.

Mother Su hated to see the He family enjoying a good life. Knowing that the He family was not doing well, she carried Si Ya to go to the banyan tree to chat. Su Qing was worried that Si Ya would become a gossip expert in the future because she was listening to these family gossips at such a young age.

In the yard, only Daya, Erya, Sanya and Qianya were there.

Su Qing was weeding in the backyard. The seeds that Aunt Wang gave her last time had been planted by Su's mother and Wen Li, and now small sprouts about the length of a finger had grown out.

The last time the village chief brought people to search the house, these seeds had just sprouted, so they were not discovered.

Otherwise, according to the policy, you have to hand in more than half of the money after the results are released.

Suddenly there was a noise in the front yard.

There were women scolding and children crying.

Su Qing didn't even have time to wash the mud off his hands before running to the front yard, "What's wrong?"

In the yard, there were papers scattered all over the ground and a few unfamiliar faces.

One of them was holding half a workbook in his hand.

Su Qianya protected Daya and Sanya behind her, and Erya stood beside Su Qianya holding a big broom.

"Who are you? Who tore it?" Su Qing asked, pointing at the pieces of paper on the ground.

After saying that, Su Qing carefully checked the children again. He breathed a sigh of relief when he found no wounds.

"Auntie, they rushed in and said they wanted to live in our house."

"Mom, she even tore up the notebook you bought for me. I only wrote one page."

Several children were complaining to each other, and Su Qing had a rough idea of what had happened from their words.

After the He family's old house, which was temporarily used as a home for educated youth, burned down, they had nowhere to go.

There were only two rooms in the social worker temple, and they were occupied early on by He Aiguo's family because Li Xiumei was pregnant and could not move around.

The rest of the people can only find a place to live by themselves, otherwise they will really have to use the sky as a blanket and the ground as a bed.

I don't know who said it, but living with fellow villagers means you don't have to work and you have ready-made meals.

So these female educated youth couldn't wait to go to the village to find a satisfactory family to live with.

Su Qing's family is the best one they have ever had.

The three female educated youth in front of them liked the Su family’s house, which was not only big but also clean.

When they arrived, Su Qianya and others were reviewing Su Qingjiao's calligraphy.

The three female educated youth mocked the children, saying that country bumpkins were worthy of studying.

A few children refused to accept this and retorted.

The quarrel became more and more intense, and finally several people started pushing and shoving each other.

Then the educated youth tore up the notebook in anger.

Seeing that Su Qing's face was getting more and more ugly, several people planned to slip away.

Su Qing stopped him and asked, "Did you leave? Did you apologize? Did you compensate me?"

"It wasn't us who broke it. If they hadn't snatched it, the notebook wouldn't have been torn to pieces."

When they heard that they had to pay compensation, several female educated youth started to lie and shirk responsibility.

"Bah! You, a peasant, are you worthy of my apology?"

"That's right, does a country bumpkin know how to write the word 'apology'?"

"We're staying at your house because we respect you. Don't be so shameless."

"If your house wasn't a little cleaner, I wouldn't even look at it."

The more they talked, the more outrageous they became.

Among them, Yang Xiaoya was the loudest.

"I don't think you need to go to great lengths to find a house."

A few people thought that Su Qing had compromised and planned to let them move in.

They asked many villagers along the way, and they either asked them to pay more food or to do more work.

It's so funny. All their things were burned down in a fire. If I had enough food and strength, I wouldn't have to live with a bunch of country bumpkins like them.
