Chapter 37 They all caught big fish

"Big brother, second brother, please keep an eye on these two fish baskets for me."

When Su Lao Da and Su Lao Er heard their third brother calling them, they eagerly took the rope one by one.

Immediately afterwards, cheers came from the other side, "Mine weighs about 20 pounds, quickly lend a hand to pull it up."

Then one after another, they were pulled up every one or two minutes.

The fish were just taken out of the fish basket and thrown into the river, and then they swarmed back into the basket.

This went on for so long that those who received fish baskets were exhausted.

It was a bittersweet experience. Fortunately, the villagers weren't greedy; once their large wooden buckets were full, they would share the fish baskets with others.

Soon the river was surrounded by people; basically everyone in the village had come.

Su Muyao looked at his three fish baskets, where each time only three to five pounds of fish were coming in. He wanted the big fish he used to have.

So he quietly took out a small towel from his spatial storage, folded it into a square, soaked it in the spiritual spring water, and then threw it into the fish basket.

Su Sanlang naturally understood what his daughter was doing. A small red cloth suddenly appeared, and it looked quite fluffy.

However, I still need to make sure to cover up for my daughter properly.

Not long after the fish trap was put into the water, Su Dalang and Su Erlang suddenly saw wide and long ripples appearing from afar.

Then someone behind them shouted, "Look at the huge fish over at Old Su's place!"

The fish swimming by seemed completely oblivious to the screams from the people on the shore.

It headed straight for Su Laosan's fish basket, but the hole in the basket was too small for the big fish to squeeze its head in, and it kept pushing against the basket.

Upon seeing this, the third brother quickly took out a harpoon, having made thorough preparations this time.

Looking at the large, fresh fish, Su Muyao thought that fresh fish would fetch a higher price.

“My father uses the biggest net to catch it; the live fish can fetch a high price.”

Su Laosan looked at the largest net next to him, and thought that even that net would be a bit difficult to use to catch this fish.

Su Muyao put cabbage leaves diluted with spiritual spring water into the large net.

That's why Su Laosan took the net to scoop up the fish. As soon as the net caught the bighead carp, it started frantically eating the cabbage in the net.

Completely unaware that they had been scooped out of the water.

Several villagers also helped to pull it up, because Su Laosan couldn't have done it all by himself.

This fish must weigh at least 100 pounds; it looks rather frightening.

Looking at the fish, Su Muyao thought that with the New Year approaching, she should be able to make a lot of money selling it to the wealthy people in town.

"Hahaha, it's up, it's up."

Su Laosan was so happy that his teeth were showing, and the women watching were also gossiping about it.

"It makes all the difference with Little Lucky Star around. Look at this fish, I've never seen anything like it before, and he still managed to catch it."

"Of course! This is our village's lucky star! Look, didn't your man catch a big one at his fish farm?"

The woman hurriedly went to look at her husband, who had finally managed to drag the fish basket up. She glanced at it and exclaimed, "My goodness, it's so big!"

This fish must weigh at least thirty or forty pounds. Although it can't compare to the fish that Fu Bao's father had, it's still the biggest fish that the villagers have caught so far.

The man's son looked into the distance again, and Xiao Fubao's expression changed.

Previously, because Liu Daya took the lead, he thought there was no such thing as good fortune, it was just a coincidence. Even if there was some good fortune, it wouldn't be enough to make everyone in the village like her so much. But today, it seems that she really is very fortunate.

My father and I have been by this river for over a month now, and we've never seen anyone manage to pull a single fish out of it.

But today, Little Lucky Star led everyone to not only catch one fish, but everyone basically made a fortune.

An eight- or nine-year-old boy ran up to Su Muyao, timidly said "I'm sorry," and then turned and ran away.

Su Muyao stared blankly at the boy who had run away. "Dad, why did he apologize to me?"

Su Laosan was also puzzled. "I don't know either. Did he do something to wrong you before, or say something bad about you?"

Su Muyao then remembered that this kid was one of those who had been cursing her along with Su Daya.

"Heh, what an adorable little rascal!"

When Su Laosan heard his daughter mutter this, he almost laughed himself to death.

"Haha, ha, daughter, you're going to make me laugh to death, you little rascal, you seem to be even younger than him, right?"

Su Muyao turned her head away, not wanting to argue with her father.

And so, the whole village, young and old, kept busy until late afternoon, and everyone had already made several trips back and forth to their homes to transport the fish.

Seeing that it was getting late, Su Muyao pulled Su Laosan, who had no desire to go back, towards home.

"Girl, aren't you going to chat a little longer? Catch as much as you can, we'll take it to town to sell tomorrow!"

"Dad, we've finished all the cabbage, and I'm hungry too. It's time to go back for lunch."

The third brother looked at the sky and realized that it was already late and his daughter was hungry, without him even noticing.

So he happily picked up his daughter and put her on his neck, then leisurely walked home.

Behind them, Su Lao Er and Su Lao Da dragged a large wooden bucket, huffing and puffing as they moved home.

We had to take a break after every few steps, because the fish was just too big and heavy.

They've made this round trip home at least ten times today.

After Su Muyao left, those who were still unwilling to go home took some more cabbages from their homes, intending to continue.

But after a long while, only one or two small shrimp appeared.

Everyone then hurried home, saying, "With this little lucky star gone, all our good fortune is gone!"

"Hey Old Wang, how many trips has your son brought home with fish? Isn't that enough? Don't let them rot at home because you can't finish them."

"Go away, I need to take it to town to sell!"

“Now every household in the village is raising so many fish, they definitely have to sell them all, how can they possibly sell all of them?”

"If I can't sell them all, I'll pickle them into salted fish and eat them for the New Year. It's none of your business. You've been catching just as many as I have. You still have the nerve to criticize me. Go home and have dinner."

The two walked home happily.

The whole village smells of fish today; almost every household is eating fish.

The old village chief's family sat around the dinner table. The old village chief instructed his sons, "From now on, you need to pay more attention to the Su family, especially that little Fu Bao."

The sons all nodded. "Dad, don't worry, we all know what we're doing. If anything happens to the Su family, we'll all go to help."

"The Su family is definitely going to leave our little mountain village in the future. I'm afraid the matter of Xiao Fubao's biological father is not over yet."
