"Brother, I know I was wrong."
Li Cui wanted to say something, but Su Dalang stopped her.
"That's all in the past, no need to bring it up again. Let's just wish each other well now."
Before Li Cui could say anything more, a very beautiful woman came out of the courtyard.
Her first words were a clear, cheerful "Brother Dalang, so early? Oh, who is this?"
Li Cui stared wide-eyed at the woman in front of her. She couldn't believe that Su Dalang had found someone else after only a little over a month since she left him.
Su Dalang gave the woman a simple, honest smile. "Go inside and wait. I'll tell you later."
The woman seemed to sense something, nodded, and went back into the house.
"Brother, what is this?"
“I know this is the aunt that Dad brought back.”
As soon as Huanbao finished speaking, Xibao grabbed her and pulled her back to her room.
Li Cui immediately roared, "Su Dalang, what do you mean? I've only been gone for a little over a month, and you've already brought another woman home!"
Su Dalang snorted coldly, "How can you compare? You got married the day after your divorce."
"We have no relationship anymore, so please don't bother me in my life anymore."
"Why? Why are you doing this to me? We've been together for so many years, and you're just abandoning me like this?"
Su Dalang was already very impatient. "What else do you have to say? Just say it already!"
Li Cui finally revealed the purpose of her visit.
“I know you still have feelings for me. After all, I am the child’s biological mother. Outsiders will always be outsiders.”
“You can redeem me. It only costs ten taels of silver. Give the family ten taels of silver and I can come back and continue living with you. I will stay here with you and the children and never go anywhere else.”
As he spoke, he pulled on Su Dalang's sleeve and knelt down.
Su Dalang shook off Li Cui's hand that was pulling on his sleeve.
"Ten taels of silver is easy for you to say. We've already divorced and I'm about to have my own wife. From now on, we'll go our separate ways and not bother each other."
"No, I don't believe it. I don't believe you've forgotten me so easily. Have you forgotten the vow you made to me that you would only love me for the rest of your life?"
"Ten taels of silver is just a drop in the ocean for you, isn't it? Fu Bao is so good at making money, and the ginseng at home makes so much money. Just ask your parents for ten taels, and I'll come back with just ten taels."
"Li Cui, you are a married woman now. Stop flirting with others. I hope you'll think twice before you act this way."
"No, Dalang, you can't marry someone else, I don't agree!" Li Cui said hoarsely, then rushed to Dalang and hugged him tightly.
"You're mine, you're mine, sob sob sob."
No matter how Su Dalang pushed her, Li Cui clung to him like a stubborn plaster, her arms tightly wrapped around Su Dalang's waist.
At this point, even the neighbors came out to see.
The neighbor's wife was even more sarcastic, bombarding Li Cui with harsh words: "Li Cui, you're already married to someone else, how dare you come back and bother Su Dalang?"
Another woman nearby chimed in, "That's right, I advise you to go home as soon as possible. If your husband's family finds out, it will be terrible."
"She's an unfaithful woman, promiscuous, not only stealing money for her own family, but she also married someone else the day after the divorce. Were they already having an affair?"
"Those two babies are just so pitiful."
"What's there to pity? The Su family is living such a prosperous life. If she doesn't want to, there are plenty of women who would kill to marry into the Su family."
Li Cui, as if grasping at a straw, cried out, "Da Lang, can you hear that? That woman inside is definitely after your money. She doesn't genuinely like you; she's only after your money!"
Before she could finish speaking, she saw her current husband walking towards her, carrying a stick.
Li Cui instinctively tried to hide behind Su Dalang, but the man who caught up with her grabbed her hair and threw her away.
"I feed you, I give you water, I clothe you, and the other day your mother even took some grain from my house. You shameless slut, and you're out there trying to seduce people. Have you forgotten that my family bought you for six taels of silver?"
The man grew angrier the more he thought about it, and he grabbed the woman's hair and pushed her forward.
"You shameless woman, how dare you go behind my back and meet another man? I'll beat you to death today!"
As he spoke, he slapped Li Cui across the face, and her right cheek swelled up instantly.
Li Cui tightly protected her head, pleading, "Stop hitting me! I won't do it again! I'll never do it again! I promise I'll never come looking for him again! Please, please stop hitting me!"
Seeing that there were too many onlookers, and not wanting to embarrass himself there, the man dragged Li Cui home.
Li Cui kept thinking about it the whole way. She originally thought that Su Dalang would be willing to spend ten taels of silver for her sake.
Unexpectedly, he had already brought another woman home.
What a cold-hearted person.
Seeing that the woman was walking slowly behind him, seemingly still thinking about something, the man grabbed Li Cui's hair and pushed her forward.
"You shameless woman, you're married to me now, and you're still thinking about those other men outside. If I don't teach you a lesson today, you'll be running away again, won't you?"
"I won't do it again, please don't hit me."
Li Cui pleaded desperately, but the man didn't care what she was saying and dragged her home by her hair.
After arriving home, he closed the courtyard, took a rope from the woodshed, tied the woman tightly, and hung her from the beam of his house.
The old lady saw this scene when she returned home. "What happened?"
“Mother, she ran away before dawn and I just caught her. What’s worse is that she still has feelings for that Su Dalang from the next village. She went to his door early this morning.”
The old lady immediately became furious upon hearing this.
"You little slut, I spent so much money to buy you back so you could live a good life with my son and give me a big, fat grandson. And you actually tried to run away! Give you a good beating!"
The man had the same intention, and the whip fell repeatedly on the woman's body.
Li Cui was filled with hatred. She hated her mother for selling her to such a family, and she hated the Su family even more for Su Dalang's heartlessness and indifference in not helping her in her time of need.
"Waaah, I know I was wrong, I'll never run away again, please forgive me!"
"This is your last warning, you little slut. If you try to run away again, I'll break your legs so you can never walk again."
Li Cui trembled all over. She knew that this family meant what they said, and if she ran away again, they would really break her legs.
