The two tigers suddenly raised their heads and stared wide-eyed.
"She can understand what we're saying."
One of them got so excited that it stopped drinking the spring water and bounced right up to the little dumpling.
Startled, Su Sanlang grabbed his little daughter and placed her behind him.
"Father, it's alright."
After saying that, Su Muyao stepped out from behind Su Laosan and looked up at the two big tigers in front of her.
Although he looked relaxed, the gun in his hand was still itching to be used. He was sure he could hit the tiger with one shot if it made the next move.
"You can understand us, you little human brat."
Su Laosan could only understand the roaring sounds in front of him.
"Yes, I can understand what you're saying. Don't scare my dad. I can come to see you often and bring you spiritual spring water."
The tiger was shocked when it heard the little dumpling say that it could really understand what they were saying.
"That spring water you gave us, what's it called? It tastes so good! Now that we've drunk your water, what should we give you in return?"
Su Muyao didn't expect that this tiger was quite sensible, knowing that if it drank someone else's water, it should give them something in return.
"Why don't you catch some wild rabbits or pheasants for us?"
The tiger nodded quickly.
After the tiger finished its chatter with Su Muyao, it planned to go back to drink the spiritual spring water, only to discover...
The two bowls were empty.
With a roar, it rushed forward and saw that there wasn't a single drop of spiritual spring water left in either bowl. Enraged, it howled at the other tiger.
“Our brotherhood has come to an end, and you didn’t even leave me a single bite.”
The other tiger seemed a bit flustered, saying, "I forgot about it while I was drinking."
The tiger got so angry that it started rolling around on the ground. Su Muyao, seeing this hilarious scene, burst out laughing.
Su Sanlang watched as the tiger, who had been so arrogant just moments before, transformed into an adorable, playful whine in the next second.
It felt like the whole world had become surreal.
Then he took out a bowl of spiritual spring water and gave it to the tiger that hadn't drunk any water.
The tiger looked gratefully at the human cub, said nothing more, and immediately began slurping up the spiritual spring water in the bowl.
After drinking the spiritual spring water, the two tigers happily led Su Muyao and Su Laosan into the deep mountains.
To hunt more prey, one must venture deeper into the mountains.
The two tigers didn't spare any of the wild rabbits or pheasants they saw along the way.
Su Laosan's basket was already full.
We hadn't walked far when we saw several wild fruit trees, laden with bright red apples.
Su Muyao looked at the apple tree in front of her, which was full of familiar red apples, and was instantly overjoyed, her mouth watering.
Although she has as many as she wants in her space, it's different when she picks them herself.
"Dad, let's pick some apples to eat."
Su Laosan looked up at the bright red fruit hanging on the tree.
"These brightly colored fruits might be poisonous, so let's avoid them."
Su Muyao was surprised that in this ancient era, they didn't even know what an apple was.
This is obviously an apple, but I never expected my own dad wouldn't recognize it.
“Father, this fruit is called Apple Master. He taught me how to make it. It’s sweet and sour and very delicious.”
Su Sanlang trusted his daughter completely. If she said it was edible, then it must be edible.
He put his daughter down on the ground, then climbed the tree, picked two wild fruits, and took a bite.
Just like my daughter said, this apple is crisp and refreshing, with a slight tartness that makes it incredibly delicious.
Only then did he feel at ease hand one to his daughter, and the father and daughter happily ate the wild apple, taking turns eating it.
Suddenly, an injured wild rabbit ran over. It looked to be a fat rabbit weighing over six pounds.
Looking at the tiger running back not far away, it seems the rabbit escaped from the tiger's claws.
Su Muyao immediately pointed the gun at the rabbit running towards her.
With a bang, the bullet flew towards the large rabbit, hitting it instantly and causing it to fall to the ground.
The tiger that followed tilted its head as it looked at the little thing in the baby's hand.
Thinking back to when my companions and I ran over, this little dumpling was holding something up to my head. Now, just thinking about it makes my head feel a chill.
Su Laosan was quite curious about what his daughter had in her hand. But when he saw the iron lump in his daughter's hand disappear instantly, he didn't press the matter further.
Su Muyao thought about it and immediately burst out laughing.
This would have been an outrageous act even in my past life—who would actually use a gun to hunt a rabbit?
It's really overkill to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut; it's a waste of talent.
Along the way, Su Laosan's large basket was already full, and he had strung many pheasants and rabbits on a rope made of weeds.
Seeing that they really couldn't carry any more, they looked pitifully at their little daughter and said, "We really can't carry any more. How about we go back first and come up again next time?"
Su Muyao looked at her father's appearance and burst out laughing.
"Alright, let's go down the mountain first."
After a brief farewell to the wolf king and the two tigers, he headed down the mountain.
Seeing that the village entrance was full of people, Su Laosan hesitated before walking forward.
I really didn't like my look; my neck was covered with a string of pheasants and rabbits, and my arms were dangling with two large strings of prey.
Even his waist was tied full of several large, fat rabbits, and he was panting heavily as he struggled to carry a large basket of prey on his back.
His daughter was holding a live rabbit and leisurely following behind him.
After Su Laosan walked out of the crowd, blushing and teased by everyone, the gossipy old ladies in the village started talking again.
"You've brought so much stuff again, and you practically have to run away from us when you get here?"
"Hahaha, is it possible that he's not afraid we'll see the prey, but rather doesn't want us to see him in this disheveled state?"
"That's true. Although the clothes we usually wear are patched up, they're nothing like today. Look at the clothes on his body, they're all torn by tree branches! You can even see his undergarments through the back."
"So what if we see his undergarments? He's a man, why would he be afraid of us old women taking advantage of him?"
Several elderly women were chatting amongst themselves, though in previous years at this time, people weren't as relaxed as they were now.
With the Lunar New Year approaching, in previous years almost every household was worried about what to buy for the holiday.
Unlike this year, almost every household has a lot of money. Just from the last sale of herbs, each family received ten taels.
These farmers probably didn't even have ten taels of silver in their entire savings, and suddenly they received such a huge sum of money.
As soon as Su Muyao got home, she saw her grandmother killing a duck, which was one of the few animals in the family.
Originally, Grandma Su planned to raise these two ducks and save them for the New Year, but her second daughter-in-law's parents came to visit, so she had no choice but to kill one to entertain the guests first.
As soon as Su Muyao ran to the kitchen, she saw that Grandma Su had just started plucking the duck's neck feathers.
Just then, Grandma Su picked up a kitchen knife and was about to cut the duck's neck.
The duck, which had been in despair, suddenly saw its little master standing at the door.
The duck cried out in a hoarse voice, "Little master, please save me! I'm about to be eaten! I want to stay with you a little longer! Help!"
