Chapter 103 Healing the Leg

Those who overheard their conversation immediately panicked. Several people followed, wanting to take the boat home as well, but Jian Ning refused them all.

That woman may have been inside the aid station the whole time; the inflatable boat had only gone a short distance...

She saw the disgusting corpses in the water and almost vomited.

The man remained quite calm, keeping up conversation with Zhang Xiaoqiang. He could also tell that the man driving the boat had a particularly imposing presence and was clearly not someone to be trifled with.

Try not to talk to him. If you accidentally offend him, it would be terrible if they threw the two of them into the water.

After boarding the ship, Jian Ning gave Cao Xue anti-inflammatory and fever-reducing medicine. She leaned against Zhang Xiaoqiang and had already drifted off to sleep.

So Jian Ning decided to take the two people on the boat home first. Their place was only two streets away from Jinmao Mansion, not too far.

The man pointed out the way, and Xiao Lingfeng drove the speedboat, arriving at the destination in less than twenty minutes.

He saw his own building. His eyes welled up with tears, and after entering through the window, he thanked everyone repeatedly.

After watching the speedboat sail away, he took his wife's hand and walked up the stairs.

After returning to Jinmao Mansion, Xiao Lingfeng helped Zhang Xiaoqiang. The two took turns carrying Cao Xue up to the fifteenth floor.

Upon opening the door, the room was not much different from the dampness inside. After all, there had never been an owner in the room, and flies and mosquitoes had nothing to eat. They would probably just fly in, circle around, and then leave.

There was still some rice and oil they hadn't taken with them when they left in the kitchen. Plus the cold-resistant potatoes they had brought back themselves.

This should be enough for the two of them to eat for ten to fifteen days. There's also gas in the LPG cylinder, which we didn't move out in the rush. Now we can use it all.

Jian Ning put Cao Xue on the bed, carefully examined her again, then went home and came back a short while later with tetanus medication, giving her an injection.

"This swelling is caused by a wound infection. Keep taking these medications for a few days. I'll squeeze out the pus and blood for you, and you should be fine then."

"Thank you so much, Jian Ning. You saved my life. I have nothing to repay you with right now, but don't worry, if you ever need my help in the future, just let me know."

"Okay, I understand. I'll have Xiao Lingfeng store some water for you later. Let's settle in here for now, and we'll talk about the future once you've recovered."

He didn't want to hear Cao Xue express her gratitude anymore; he had helped them because the two of them were decent people.

Living in society, it's impossible not to need help from others sometimes. Who knows, one day in the future, this act of kindness might actually bring you some help.

I took a scalpel out of the medical kit, disinfected the wound with iodine, then cut it open to drain the pus and blood, and cleaned the wound with hydrogen peroxide.

Then he left all the medicines and surgical supplies to Zhang Xiaoqiang.

The wound can only be sutured and bandaged after the pus has drained and fresh granulation tissue has grown. She doesn't need to do that, since they are both medical students and can do it themselves.

Xiao Lingfeng not only filled the large bucket in the kitchen with water, but also gave them several bottles of insecticide.

Then he said to Zhang Xiaoqiang, "When you're in this room, you'd better seal up all the gaps and the drains. Otherwise, it'll be hard to catch rats and cockroaches if they get in."

"We know that. The sewer was clogged before, we'll just sew the window shut and seal it up. Thanks, brother."

Zhang Xiaoqiang was incredibly grateful. He and Cao Xue had been each other's only support during this time, and if she had really left, he wouldn't have planned to live either. Fortunately, Jian Ning and Xiao Lingfeng were willing to lend a helping hand.

As for what to do next, as long as one is alive, there is hope; there's always a way out. There will always be a solution.

"Are we still going up the mountain?" Xiao Lingfeng asked Jian Ning as they came out of the fifteenth floor.

"Go, find it as soon as possible. Digging it up will give you more self-defense capabilities once you reach the Foundation Establishment stage." Actually, this escalation isn't a good thing. The real apocalypse has only just begun.

"Okay, let's go then." Xiao Lingfeng had no objections whatsoever.

So the two went downstairs again and took a boat up the mountain, carefully avoiding the garrison. Xiao Lingfeng led her to a depression halfway up the mountain.

"This should be it. Look, those are all exposed iron ore. There must be jade in this deposit."

"Let's try digging from this side."

As Jian Ning spoke, a thought struck her, and two rather crudely made tools appeared in her hand.

Don't let its unattractive appearance fool you; this is a Yellow-grade spiritual weapon, something she made herself while learning weapon crafting. Though it may not look beautiful, it's absolutely practical. She handed one to Xiao Lingfeng.

He took it, glanced at it, and without saying a word, found a spot and dug down, creating a pit two meters wide.

I was completely shocked.

"Hehe, it works well, right? I put a lot of effort into making this. It's not an ordinary tool; it's a spiritual artifact."

Without saying a word, Jian Ning picked up a pickaxe and started digging.

Working together, the two of them dug a fairly deep pit in less than half an hour. The jade mine was exposed. Large stones were covered with varying sizes of bluish-green jade.

It turned out to be a turquoise mine. And the yield was quite substantial. Not only Jian Ning, but Xiao Lingfeng also sensed a rich spiritual energy upon digging this far. They were overjoyed; this trip had truly been worthwhile.
