Chapter 107 Earthquake

"Brother, it's okay, no need to run."

Jian Ning dodged, and he didn't catch her. Just then, Jian Ning took out a stack of stabilizing talismans and slapped them onto the four walls.

It was remarkably effective; the building actually stopped shaking. Jian Anping finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Little sister, thanks to you, otherwise your sister-in-law would have been in big trouble. I can't run fast even carrying her, and I'm afraid the building will collapse halfway up the stairs."

"Sister-in-law, don't be afraid, everything will be alright. Go back and rest."

Seeing that Li Mengyao's face had turned deathly pale, Li Baozhu was afraid that she would have another miscarriage, so she quickly had Jian Anping carry her back to the bedroom.

Aunt Li kept repeating "May God bless us."

Jian Ning couldn't help but chuckle. What could God possibly protect? Who knows how many more people died in this earthquake?

They say misfortunes never come singly, so it seems we can't go up the mountain for a while. I wonder how the garrison is doing.

Xiao Lingfeng also came out of the house at this moment, followed by Aunt Wang and Tian Tian. It seemed that they wanted to move downstairs.

Seeing Jian Ning standing in the hallway as if nothing had happened, he paused for a moment, then asked, "Aren't you going to run?"

"Where are you going? It's alright now. Even if there's a magnitude 10 earthquake, this building won't collapse. Go back home with peace of mind." Jian Ning turned around and smiled at Xiao Lingfeng.

He suddenly felt that Jian Ning was radiating light, and he was incredibly glad that he had bought the house here.

I was fortunate to meet Jian Ning. Her small shoulders, though not broad, could almost bear everything, and her body seemed to be full of energy.

She returned a smile and softly said "okay." Then she took Aunt Wang and Tian Tian back home.

Jian Ning walked to the window and looked out. Several tall buildings in the distance had already collapsed.

Although the aftershocks have stopped, the view down below is still filled with smoke and dust. Thankfully, the windows haven't been opened, otherwise the dust would have flown in.

Jian Anping ran out again: "Xiao Ning, come and stay at home. I can't rest easy if I don't keep an eye on you."

"You're such a grown-up, how can you be so timid?" Jian Ning muttered, but still walked over.

How could ordinary people not be afraid of an earthquake? Such a tall building, if it really collapsed, the chances of survival would be extremely small. Their family lived on the top floor, so even if they ran downstairs, they probably wouldn't have had time.

As soon as Jian Ning entered the house, Aunt Li quickly stood up.

"Xiao Ning, are we really going to stay home all the time? I saw that the building across the street collapsed. I wonder if our building is any sturdy enough?"

"It's alright, Auntie. We checked everything when we rented the apartment. This building can definitely withstand an earthquake of magnitude 8 or higher."

Everything was inspected before being handed over. And the shaking has stopped now; even if there are aftershocks, they probably won't be as strong as the ones just now, so you can rest assured.

"I feel a little better now that you're saying that. I was so scared just now that I couldn't control my limbs. I'm so lucky that Dazhuang helped me. What is God trying to do? Does He not want us ordinary people to live?"

"Natural disasters keep piling up!" Aunt Li sighed, then sat back down on the sofa. Her legs were still a little weak, and she could barely stand.

We spent a short day with Jian Anping, and then there were a few more tremors, but none of them were very strong. The shaking of the building also subsided considerably, which made everyone feel a little more at ease.

Jian Ning ate dinner there before returning home. As soon as she entered the house, the walkie-talkie rang.

"Jian Ning, are you alright? I'm so worried about you, I haven't been able to get in touch with you at all!" It was Cao Xue's worried voice.

"I'm fine, how's your leg?"

"The swelling has gone down a bit. But it hasn't been stitched up yet; it'll be a few more days."

"I feel much better after taking the medicine, Jian Ning. I'm so grateful to you. I can't repay your kindness enough. From now on, my life is yours. I'll do anything for you."

“Cao Xue, you don’t need to think like that. It just so happens that I have medicine here, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to help.” Jian Ning didn’t want her to be grateful to her.

Even with the apocalypse approaching, people shouldn't be too kind, but she could still lend a helping hand if she could. Besides, Cao Xue and Zhang Xiaoqiang are decent people.

It's not that they're ungrateful or the kind of people who do dirty tricks behind people's backs. Of course, you can't judge a book by its cover, so you can't be too absolute with that statement.

“Zhang Xiaoqiang went out to find something to eat. I’m actually quite worried about him. If it weren’t for my leg getting in the way, he wouldn’t be working so hard.”

Cao Xue's voice was tinged with tears. In her heart, she was actually very grateful. If she hadn't been lucky enough to meet Jian Ning and Zhang Xiaoqiang, she might not be in this world right now.

"If you really run out of food, I can give you some. Once your leg is better, you can find something to return to me. We're not at our lowest point yet, so stay strong."

"Now that Jian Ning has brought everyone back, she doesn't intend to abandon them completely. As long as they can survive, there is hope, isn't there?"

"No need, let's talk about it when we have nothing else to do." Zhang Xiaoqiang found a kayak downstairs. He hadn't been gone long, so he should be able to find something.

There were still aftershocks, and I didn't want him to go out and risk it, but he said, "The buildings have collapsed, there might be something to eat inside, and I can't stop him if he insists on going."

After hearing Cao Xue's words, Jian Ning could only sigh. How could she not take risks for the sake of a meal? That's how Jian Ning had lived in her previous life, wasn't it?

After hanging up the phone, I still felt a little reluctant, so I took a bag of flour, a bag of rice, and a bag of potatoes and cabbage from my storage space. I carried them downstairs and delivered them to Cao Xue.

She hopped over on one leg to open the door. Upon seeing Jian Ning carrying so many things, she quickly refused:

"Jian Ning, I really can't accept all this stuff. We're short of food at home right now. What will you do if you give it to me?"

“I still have some. You should focus on getting your leg healed first, then we can talk about other things. If it really doesn’t work out, you can give me an IOU and pay me back later.” Jian Ning carried all the things to the kitchen and put them down.

Then they came over to check Cao Xue's leg wound, and it had indeed healed a lot. She should be able to walk normally in less than a week.

"There will still be aftershocks in the next couple of days. When Zhang Xiaoqiang comes back, tell him to try not to go out for now, and wait until things settle down before making any decisions."

"This building is still quite safe; at least it won't collapse." Jian Ning gave Cao Xue another instruction before leaving.

"Okay, I understand. If it weren't for wanting to live a few more days, he wouldn't have gone out and taken such a big risk." Cao Xue saw Jian Ning off, closed the door, and leaned against it, crying.

This food was a real lifesaver, and she really didn't know how to describe her feelings.

Jian Ning walked straight through the wall to the 16th floor, where she made eye contact with Xiao Lingfeng, who was opening the door.

"Are you going out?" I asked, noticing he was dressed all in black and carrying a speedboat.
