Chapter 11 Best Friends

The people buying breakfast nearby were unhappy.

"Hey young lady, that's a bit unfair of you. You should have pre-ordered all these fried dough sticks. What are we going to eat if you buy them all?"

“That’s right, we’ve been queuing for ages!” the old lady next to me said happily.

"I'm sorry, I didn't think it through. Boss, how about we do as the uncle suggested, I'll place the order and pick it up tomorrow morning?"

After hearing what the older man said, Jian Ning realized she had acted impulsively and quickly discussed it with her boss.

"That's fine, but you have to pay a deposit first, otherwise if you don't come tomorrow, who will I sell all the extras to?"

“Okay, can I pay you 500 yuan first?” Jian Ning said, and went over to scan the code.

After paying, we ordered another twenty pots of soy milk, a thousand fried dough sticks, and two thousand tea eggs from the owner.

I took the bus to the lottery center this time, not daring to take a taxi, for fear of being recognized. I even took the bus one stop early and walked there, wearing a big hat, sunglasses, and a mask, fully armed.

The lottery center already knew yesterday that a 10 billion yuan jackpot had been won in the city by a single person who placed a 2,000-fold bet using the quick pick option. That's quite a feat, so they are paying special attention to the person coming in to claim the prize today.

As soon as Jian Ning stepped into the lottery center, she was warmly greeted by customer service and led to the VIP room. The treatment was completely different from yesterday, with smiling service throughout.

The prize redemption process went smoothly. After deducting taxes, she received a cash check and, escorted by staff, went directly to the nearby bank to make a large deposit.

Then I divided it into five portions and transferred them to my other five bank cards.

Jian Ning felt that banks weren't entirely safe either, and that one shouldn't put all their eggs in one basket.

After finishing this important matter, it was almost noon. I went straight downstairs to the beef noodle shop, picked up the beef noodles I had ordered that day, and put them all into my jade pendant space.

Before she even got upstairs, the phone rang again. It was the goods she'd ordered online that had arrived—that was fast enough. Jian Ning didn't even bother with lunch; she hailed a taxi to the warehouse.

She unloaded all the delivered goods and waited for the delivery person to leave. Then, with a thought, she put everything in the warehouse into the jade pendant's space.

I found a small restaurant nearby and had a quick bite to eat before going to school in the afternoon.

I was supposed to go to school in the morning, but the temptation of redeeming the prize was just too great, so I figured it wouldn't matter if I was delayed for half a day.

As soon as I entered the classroom, I saw Miao Xin sitting with several female classmates, talking quietly. She paused for a moment when she saw Jian Ning coming over.

His face immediately lit up with a smile: "Jian Ning, your injury is all healed? We've all been missing you these past few days since you've been to school."

"Yes, Jian Ning, come and sit down." Zhang Xue came over and pulled Jian Ning to sit down next to her.

The other classmates also greeted Jian Ning warmly. Although she remembered that she was familiar with all of them, Jian Ning did not feel any closeness to them.

He simply smiled and nodded, then found a seat and sat down.

The teacher arrived quickly and started class. Seeing Jian Ning, she asked her with concern, indicating that the whole school probably knew about her falling into the river. At this point, there are no secrets; the internet is too advanced!

As soon as get out of class ended, the class monitor came over. "Jian Ning, why didn't you come this morning? The homeroom teacher asked you to come and see him."

"I have something to do this morning, I'll be right there."

As Jian Ning spoke, she got up and tried to leave, but then she heard a commotion at the door.

Next came a large bouquet of red roses, probably 99 in total, a huge bunch, and an exceptionally vibrant red.

Following closely behind the bouquet was Li Mingxuan, dressed in a white suit. His handsome face was full of affectionate smiles, and the contrast between the red and white suits made him look even more sunny and handsome.

As soon as he entered, his eyes were fixed on Jian Ning.

He walked straight toward her.

"Ningning, will you be my girlfriend?" He approached her, tenderly offering her a bouquet of flowers, his low, husky voice carrying a hint of seduction and unwavering determination.

"Say yes! Say yes!" the surrounding students who were watching the commotion shouted along with them.

Almost no one thought Jian Ning would refuse, after all, everyone knew she liked Li Mingxuan and had been pursuing him for a long time.

Jian Ning glanced around at the excited classmates watching the commotion, then focused her attention on Miao Xin, whose face showed a hint of nervousness. A slight smile appeared on Jian Ning's lips.

They must have been in a real hurry to get Li Mingxuan over, judging by his untied tie and the beads of sweat on his forehead.

He was breathing heavily, so he must have run all the way here after buying flowers. It must have been quite a feat for him, as his hair was still perfectly styled.

Li Mingxuan caught up with me after I had only attended one class at school.

Needless to say, it must have been Miao Xin who tipped him off. This didn't happen in his past life; indeed, the slightest movement of a butterfly's wings can change the course of events in many ways.

"Be my girlfriend? You're dreaming! Go back to your dreams, anything is possible in dreams!"

Jian Ning's voice was icy, as if she were speaking with ice shards in her mouth. She forcefully pushed away Li Mingxuan, who was blocking her way, and stood up to leave.

Li Mingxuan was stunned. He never dreamed that Jian Ning would reject him so ruthlessly.

How could things have turned out this way?

Shouldn't Jian Ning happily accept the bouquet and snuggle into his arms like a little bird? What went wrong here?

She looked at Miao Xin beside her in confusion. This was so awkward.

"Jian Ning, why don't you agree? Stop being so stubborn. Li Mingxuan already knows he's wrong."
