Chapter 129 Acquired

Jian Ning leaped off the rope in a flash, moving so fast she was almost invisible—it was practically the speed of light.

The giant python in the water only felt a gust of wind blow past it, and then the scent that had attracted it to the fruit disappeared.

Yes, they vanished without a trace.

All that remained in the river was a bare stalk; there was no fruit, not even a leaf.

The Rat King was startled and immediately looked up in the direction of the rope. Sure enough, the human was gone.

It was so anxious that it started squeaking, completely forgetting about fighting the python. All it wanted was to find the fruit as quickly as possible.

Jian Ning had already reached the other side of the river and cast an invisibility spell on herself. She had already placed the Spirit Returning Fruit into her immortal abode.

If it weren't for the giant python guarding the area, she actually intended to pull the fruit up by the roots as well.

If only she could keep it in her immortal abode, but the giant python never strayed too far from the treasure, so she couldn't find an opportunity to strike.

I rushed too fast when I was stealing the spirit fruit.

To get back now, they would have to cross the river again. Seeing the giant python that had started to go berserk because of the lost spirit fruit, Jian Ning hesitated for a moment and decided to wait a while.

This python is quite powerful; there's no need to fight it head-on now. After all, the Rat King is waiting on the shore, and we need to find a way to eliminate as many of these rats as possible.

Although the python had devoured quite a few, there were simply too many rats; less than a fifth of them had disappeared.

He secretly pulled out a few lightning strike talismans and firebird spells from his bracelet. These should be enough for the rats to enjoy. He channeled his spiritual power and threw them out.

Hearing a loud rumble, like thunder suddenly erupting in the cave, both the giant python and the rat king were stunned. How could there be thunder underground? But they didn't have time to figure it out.

The terrifying thunderclaps came one after another, and these lightning strike talismans were of different types. Some of them were a combination of lightning and thunder, which caused the lightning to flash when they struck the body, instantly numbing the whole body.

Some consist of lightning combined with an explosion, sending a large number of rats flying into the air; others involve lightning combined with freezing, creating a particularly unpleasant and tangy experience.

Before the thunder talisman was even used up, firebirds flew out one after another, numbering at least a thousand, each one fixated on a single mouse on the ground.

With its sharp beak, it pecked fiercely at the rat king. The rat king received special treatment; Jian Ning used three of each kind on it alone. She refused to believe it could survive like that.

As for the giant python, not a single talisman was used against it. It was completely bewildered, blinking its large eyes and looking around, having completely forgotten about the stolen spiritual fruit.

The Rat King and his minions were in for a terrible fate. Many rats were blasted to ashes by the lightning.

It itself was blasted and tumbled several times in the air before crashing to the ground. It was covered in blood, and its fur was burned so badly that it looked like it had alopecia areata.

The imposing manner with which he commanded the rats just now is nowhere to be seen.

Seeing that it hadn't died, Jian Ning was somewhat impressed. No wonder this big rat was so clever; it certainly had some tricks up its sleeve.

Strike while the iron is hot. I have more talismans than I can use, so I'll let it get away with it today.

More than ten more Flame Talismans were thrown out, and instantly the air was filled with the smell of charred corpses and hair, which made Jian Ning gag a few times and almost vomit.

I quickly shut down my sense of smell.

Seeing that most of the rats outside were dead, he summoned the Ruoshui Sword, stepped on it, and before he could fly to the other side, the python's large tail suddenly lashed out at him.

The invisibility talisman was still working, and Jian Ning had no idea how the python had discovered her. Perhaps the fluctuations in the air aroused its suspicion, and she didn't want to confront it head-on, so she simply dodged it.

Unexpectedly, the python had no intention of letting her go. After missing its first attack, it immediately turned its large head, opened its mouth, and forcefully inhaled in the direction Jian Ning had dodged.

Jian Ning quickly used a powerful downward pull to barely stop herself in mid-air.

The Rat King on the ground was burned by the Flame Talisman until not a single hair remained on his body, revealing his bright red skin. He was both angry and annoyed.

But now was not the time to show off. It knew very well that the girl was highly skilled in martial arts and was definitely a reclusive master. It could not afford to offend her.

So he had no choice but to swallow his anger and wait to retaliate later.

It stealthily got up, its subordinates abandoning their duties and fleeing. Little did it know that Jian Ning had been watching the Rat King's every move.

Seeing it run away, and still locked in a stalemate with the giant python, he threw a handful of talismans at it. At this point, he didn't care what kind of talismans they were; as long as he could keep the Rat King alive, that was all that mattered.

Taking advantage of Jian Ning's distraction, the giant python lunged forward with a whoosh.

Jian Ning swung her sword to meet the attack, but the python's scales were slippery, offering no leverage whatsoever.

His sword strike failed to even leave a white mark. His Foundation Establishment stage strength was still too weak. He might not be a match for the python today.

With just this one sword strike, Jian Ning began to consider retreating. After all, she already had the Spirit Returning Fruit in her hands. There was no point in getting entangled with the giant python, so she fought and retreated simultaneously.

We quickly made it back to shore. But the ground was impossible to walk on. There were dead rats everywhere, all in various shapes and sizes, and all had died horribly.

The giant python had no intention of letting Jian Ning leave. Understanding her intentions, it hissed and lunged out of the water. Only now did Jian Ning get a clear look at the python.

It must be over thirty meters long and have a body thicker than a water bucket. Yet, it moves with incredible agility.

"Are you still not done? Get back to your territory right now, or don't blame me for being impolite."

As Jian Ning spoke, a small bottle suddenly appeared in her hand, no bigger than the palm of her hand. It was crystal clear, and there were faint ripples of water flowing inside.

Unfortunately, the giant python couldn't speak, but it probably understood Jian Ning's meaning. Enraged, it hissed even more and charged directly at Jian Ning.

"You're really something. We've only just met, why do you have to be so ruthless?"

"Since you disagree, then taste my mixed poison! Don't say I didn't warn you beforehand—it's a death sentence. There's no antidote!"

Jian Ning kept muttering to herself, but she didn't slack off at all. Taking advantage of the python's charge, she smashed the entire medicine bottle towards its head.

The python had eaten many people in the past, but no one was like Jian Ning, who was so carefree, had so many tricks up her sleeve, and was also exceptionally strong.

Even a single blow would hurt for half a day. If it weren't for the rules of heaven and earth restraining it, it would have already swallowed this annoying two-legged beast whole.
