"Sister Ning, let me help you. What do you need me to do?" Jian Jian not only didn't go back, but came out instead.
"Take this spray gun and insecticide. If you see fleas outside, just use it to burn them to death."
Spray some insecticide in the hallway. I'm going out for a bit.
It was good that someone was helping; Jian Ning handed both items to Jian Ji'an.
She turned and went downstairs again. Worried that the woman was dead and she wouldn't get any useful information from her, Jian Ning went down very quickly.
The door to her house was wide open. Suppressed sobs could be heard from inside. Jian Ning walked straight in.
"How are you? Are you still breathing?"
Hearing the voice, the man turned around and saw Jian Ning. He quickly wiped away his tears and stood up.
"My daughter is a little better, but my wife looks like she's about to die. Are these fleas poisonous? How can a bite be so severe?"
"It's possible. We don't know how many bacteria are outside. She might be infected with a virus. Get up so I can take a look."
Jian Ning went over and saw that the woman's head and limbs were swollen, as if inflated. The man applied some white wine to her, but it didn't help much. Her breathing was now almost imperceptible.
He took a pill out of his pocket, pinched the woman's chin, and shoved it into her mouth.
"What did you give her? Was it Chinese medicine? To detoxify her?" the man asked nervously as he watched from the side.
"Yes, I can't guarantee it will work, after all, her injuries are quite serious. Let's wait and see how it goes."
Jian Ning didn't stand on ceremony and pulled over a chair to sit down.
After waiting for more than twenty minutes, the redness and swelling on the woman's body had noticeably subsided. She could also move her fingers slightly.
Moreover, her breathing gradually calmed down, indicating that the pill had taken effect. Actually, it was just an ordinary detoxification pill from the cultivation world; Jian Ning had given it to her just to try her luck. She hadn't expected it to be so effective.
It now seems that this spiritual substance has a fairly noticeable effect on mortals.
"He's awake! He's awake! Comrade, thank you so much! You've brought him back from the brink of death; you're a miracle doctor!"
The man watched as his wife slowly opened her eyes, and for a moment he was almost incoherent, repeatedly expressing his gratitude to Jian Ning.
"I want to ask your wife something, is it convenient for you?" Jian Ning wasn't one to save someone for nothing. Without waiting for the man's consent, she stood up and walked over.
"You ask, Huimei, this comrade saved you, tell her everything she asks!"
The woman glanced at Jian Ning and nodded.
"How did you find these fleas? There must be a reason why they bite you, right?" Jian Ning didn't give her a chance to think and asked directly.
"I don't know either, but my daughter and I found something outside today. It looks like a precious jade. It's crystal clear with its own patterns and a strange fragrance."
I figured it must be something valuable, so I thought about whether I could trade it for some supplies. Besides that, I had two bags of ordinary biscuits.
On the way back, when we got to the first floor, we noticed that we were a little itchy and had a few red spots. We didn't pay much attention to it.
I was surprised to find so many fleas on my legs and body when I got to the second floor. The further down I went, the more fleas I attracted.
We were so scared we ran home as fast as we could. I really have no idea where those fleas came from.
"What did you pick up? Is it still there?" Jian Ning asked curiously.
“It’s in my pocket, old man, take it out and show it to her.”
The man came over and pulled an oval-shaped object, slightly larger than a baby's fist, from the woman's pocket.
He handed it to Jian Ning, and even before she took it, she could smell the milky fragrance emanating from it.
"What is this? It looks like insect eggs. You can see blood vessels inside the transparent parts on top."
This is a living thing, not jade. It's certain that if it weren't for this, these fleas wouldn't have kept chasing you.
"What should we do then? Let's just throw it away."
You old woman are so stupid, you can't even eat this stuff, all you think about is exchanging it for supplies.
"Why did you pick it up? You almost lost your life!" The man was furious when he heard Jian Ning say that this thing was what attracted the fleas.
"I'll handle this. You should rest for a few days and try not to go out. It will take at least a week for this toxin to be completely eliminated. Try to drink plenty of water and avoid overexertion."
After Jian Ning finished speaking, she took the item and walked out of the house. Once in the corridor, seeing that no one was around, she used a binding talisman to cover the egg, masking its odor. She then took out a jade box and put it inside.
They had just gone up one floor when they ran into Jian Ji'an again, with Cao Xue with him. The two of them were busy spraying pesticide in the hallway.
"Jian Ning, have you finished dealing with your matter?" Cao Xue stopped what she was doing and asked when she saw her come up.
"Okay, it's all done. Why did you get down?"
"I was just seeing if I could help, and I happened to run into your brother spraying pesticide here when I went downstairs. He said you had something to do and went out again, so I didn't follow him down," Cao Xue explained.
"Sister Ning, wait for me a moment." Jian Jian said, put down what he was holding and ran home. A moment later, he came back with a bag and handed it to Jian Ning.
"I can't go up to the sixteenth floor. I heard my sister-in-law gave birth. This is the milk powder and some baby supplies I found. They haven't been soaked in water. Could you please deliver them to my brother for me?"
