Chapter 148 Postpartum Confinement

After returning to Jinmao Mansion, Jian Ning did not go back to her room immediately, but instead disinfected the entire corridor again.

If even visible insects are this powerful, are the invisible microorganisms also undergoing subtle changes?

While visible things are frightening, they are not invincible. What's most worrying are the invisible bacteria and viruses.

If it were to spread through the air, it would be a devastating blow to humanity.

Hopefully, she's just worrying unnecessarily and things haven't gotten that bad yet.

After returning to the immortal abode after the disinfection, I couldn't calm down and cultivate at all; the difficulty of this third level was truly heaven-defying.

How can she possibly pass this level? With her current abilities, even dodging the lashes of the lava whip would be difficult. What method can she devise?

After sitting there looking distressed for a while, she finally got up and went to the library to see if there were any secret manuals to increase her movement speed. Five years of training time was more than enough for her to reach the Golden Core stage. She refused to believe she couldn't come up with a good solution.

There were quite a few secret manuals for cultivating movement techniques, and the names of the various manuals made her dizzy.

What about Flying Cloud Steps, Ascending to Heaven Steps, Traveling a Thousand Miles in a Divine Journey, or Fleeting Shadows? These all look pretty good, but after a quick glance, none of them meet her requirements. The speed is too slow.

Then she searched through the rows of bookshelves, and a yellowed ancient scroll caught Jian Ning's attention. It had only two large characters written on it: "Instant Shadow".

The name itself sounds fast; how fast would it be if you couldn't even see a shadow in an instant? Light speed, perhaps?

She picked it up and examined it; it was only the top half, the bottom was incomplete. But that was enough for her. She didn't expect anything else; she just wanted it to be faster than the Flaming Whip.

Then he looked for defensive techniques. There were quite a few, but after looking at them, he couldn't find any that could block the temperature of the lava, which made him very disappointed.

He walked out of the library listlessly.

Huang Fugui jumped into her arms in a flash: "What's wrong, Master? You don't seem very happy?"

"Yes, it's a bit of a problem that can't be solved in a short time, and we can't find a good solution."

Although Jian Ning didn't expect Huang Fugui to give her any good advice, having someone to listen to her would make her feel a little better.

"Let's put that aside for now and go out for a nice meal. There's no problem a good meal can't solve."

"If one meal isn't enough, then we'll have two." Huang Fugui wagged its fluffy tail and said very seriously.

"You're such a foodie, I even suspect that Taotie is your relative."

"How can it compare to me? What can it do besides eat me? I'm much better than it!"

Unexpectedly, Huang Fugui didn't take Taotie seriously at all.

"I think you're just good at bragging. It's already past eight o'clock? I thought it was the middle of the night!"

Jian Ning never expected that she would waste so much time in the library.

Thankfully, she didn't need to sleep. She patted her belly, carried Huang Fugui out of the immortal mansion, and first turned on the air conditioner in the room to expel the stuffy air.

I washed my hands before taking out delicious food from my storage space: char siu bao, shrimp dumplings, chicken feet, and steamed siu mai.

The table was laden with dishes like tangerine peel beef balls and preserved egg and lean pork congee, though the portions were small. Today's focus was on a refined presentation.

"Wow! Master, there's so much delicious food, I want to try it all." Huang Fugui's eyes lit up as he stood on the stool, pawing at the table with his paws, waiting for Jian Ning to feed him.

"I only need these; the rest are yours."

Jian Ning took an empty plate, picked up only a little of each item, and then handed the rest to Huang Fugui.

"Master, you're so kind. If we could eat so much delicious food every day, we wouldn't need to cultivate immortality. We can just enjoy ourselves every day. Why put ourselves through so much hardship?"

"Just eat your food, that won't shut you up."

Jian Ning rolled her eyes at it, still thinking about the lava while eating. If this problem wasn't solved, even the best food wouldn't interest her.

Huang Fugui didn't care about any of that; he ate with gusto, his mouth dripping with oil, without stopping for a moment.

After dinner, Jian Ning found two identical gold longevity locks and two gold bracelets for children in her spatial storage.

The soup, made with donkey-hide gelatin, red dates, pig's trotters, and carp, is a good source of nutrition for postpartum women; both of these ingredients are especially beneficial for promoting lactation. It was packed in a bucket. I took it to Jian Anping's house.

As soon as I entered the room, I felt that the temperature inside was a bit high, and the air conditioning wasn't on.

"Brother, aren't you guys hot?"

"Why isn't it hot? But my mother-in-law said that you can't be exposed to the wind during postpartum confinement, so you have to keep warm."

Worried that Mengyao and the child would catch a cold, she wouldn't let them pass. Jian Anping wiped the sweat from his face; he had no choice, but he couldn't disobey his mother-in-law.

"Aunt Li, there's no scientific basis for that."

Look at the hospital's delivery room; in the summer, there's no place without air conditioning. Otherwise, my sister-in-law and the baby would get heat rash from the heat.

With the living room air conditioner on and the bedroom door half-open, at least some cool air can get in. But with the windows closed, there's no fresh air circulation at all; I'll get sick sooner or later.

Hearing Jian Ning's rapid-fire chatter, Aunt Li was stunned. She didn't dare to say no, and quickly handed the air conditioner remote to Jian Anping.

“Anping, open it. What Xiaoning said must be right. She is a doctor.”

"Oh my girl, why didn't you come a few days earlier? I've been suffering from this heat these past few days!"

As Jian Anping spoke, he quickly turned on the air conditioner and stood down to enjoy the cool air for a while.

Aunt Li, these are for my sister-in-law to make soup. I'm going to check on her.

“Okay, okay, your sister-in-law has started producing milk. I’ve been cooking old hen for her every day, and this carp and pig’s trotters will give her a change of pace.”

Aunt Li, beaming, carried the bucket to the kitchen. Jian Ning took out the donkey-hide gelatin cake separately and placed it on the table. Then she went to Li Mengyao's bedroom.

Both children are asleep now, without blankets, lying on the linen, both in the same sleeping position.

With her little arms raised and her little hands clenched into fists, she looked as if she were about to surrender. Her arms were chubby in sections, like tender lotus roots, which was especially cute.

"Xiao Ning, sit down quickly. It's so much better if you sit down; I've been suffering from this heat these past few days."

My mom is so stubborn; she absolutely refuses to let your brother turn on the air conditioner, and he's even more afraid to use the fan. She won't even let me take a shower; it's torture for me.

Li Mengyao was really suffering from the heat. She wiped her body with a towel several times a day, but it didn't solve the problem.

Now that there was a bit of cool air in the room, I quickly grabbed two small handkerchiefs and covered the baby's belly button. This area shouldn't get cold, otherwise the baby might get an upset stomach.
