Chapter 320 Heavy Snow

"Thank you, Mom. It's cold outside these days, so you and Tian Tian shouldn't go out."

Xiao Lingfeng took the dumplings and gave them a word of advice.

“I know, Xiao Ning said, has the temperature dropped a lot? I saw that it was snowing quite heavily. If it keeps snowing like this all night, we won’t be able to open the door tomorrow morning.”

"It's okay, Mom. Xiao Ning and I are here. We'll find a way out."

Xiao Lingfeng and Jian Ning both possess the ability to pass through walls, so they don't need to use doors at all. Even if the snow falls very heavily, it won't matter.

Hearing her son say that, Aunt Wang felt relieved. Now, her son and daughter-in-law were her pillars of support. She was getting old, and as long as she didn't cause them any trouble, she would listen to whatever they said.

After finishing the dumplings, Jian Ning roasted a few small sweet potatoes and sat side by side with Xiao Lingfeng in front of the fireplace, quietly watching the red flames dancing and burning in front of them.

The wind outside was getting stronger, but thankfully they returned early and didn't waste too much time on the road.

If it weren't for flying a sword, but instead a helicopter, the danger in the sky would be much greater, and an accident could easily occur.

"Is this almost a typhoon? It must be windy at level 7 or 8. Hopefully there will be a tornado tonight!"

"Go and light a bigger fire in Mom's room. Don't let her fall asleep and the temperature drop again." Jian Ning nudged Xiao Lingfeng.

They didn't mind at all; once they moved into the space, they couldn't feel the cold outside. In this weather, the elderly and children are the key groups that need protection.

Xiao Lingfeng obediently stood up. He first walked to the window, lifted the cotton curtain, and glanced outside.

In the pitch-black night, where the lights shone through, one could see large, fluffy snowflakes falling in swirling motions.

Judging from the current situation, it's unlikely that it will be able to stop for even a day or two.

I turned and went to the room where Aunt Wang and Tian Tian lived. The two of them were sitting on the kang (a heated brick bed) playing with a jigsaw puzzle. The room was much warmer than the living room.

"Uncle, Grandma said Santa Claus is coming, that's why it's snowing so heavily, right?" Tian Tian looked up at Xiao Lingfeng and asked.

"Yes, when the snow stops, Uncle will build you a snowman in the yard. Santa Claus will also bring you presents."

As Xiao Lingfeng spoke, he thought about what suitable items he had in his space, so he could bring one out for Tian Tian later as a surprise.

"Thank you, Uncle. You're the best! I love you the most!"

"Such a sweet talker. Lingfeng, you and Xiaoning go and rest. I can keep the stove burning myself; we won't get cold." She watched as Xiao Lingfeng went to add coal to the stove.

Aunt Wang quickly said something.

"Don't smother the fire in the stove tonight, don't turn it off. Mom, you'll have to work a little harder." Xiao Lingfeng poked the fire in the stove with the stove hook, making it burn even brighter.

"Mom knows, she's aware of the situation. It's already quite warm on this kang (heated brick bed). When it's time to sleep, Tian Tian and I will have to go to the end of the kang, otherwise it will be too hot for us to sleep."

The room is small, so as long as it's a little warm, that's fine. But you two, don't get cold.

Xiao Lingfeng agreed, then went to the window and tucked the cotton curtain in properly.

He had just closed the door and gone out.

The villa is relatively well-equipped; at least the house is well-sealed and there's enough heating inside, so tonight didn't feel too unbearable.

Cao Xue suffered a bit living in a single dormitory room.

Upon hearing the broadcast, she rushed home from work and brought in all the coal and wood stored outside. She wasn't sure if this would be enough to fuel a cold snap.

Her place was small and didn't have a kang (heated brick bed). When she first fell asleep, the room was quite warm.

In the middle of the night, the cold woke her up; it was a bone-chilling cold.

I quickly got up and moved my fingers, which were almost numb from the cold.

Then he lit the stove again. He was very glad that he had learned the martial arts, otherwise he might have fallen asleep and never woken up again.

I boiled some water and poured it into a hot water bottle, then hugged it, but I still couldn't feel much heat.

Just then, someone knocked on the door. The knocking was very urgent.

"Who is it?" Cao Xue asked loudly.

"Lin Nan, it's me. Are you alright?" The person outside spoke in a very urgent voice.

"It's nothing, what's wrong?" Cao Xue simply opened the door and let him in. The temperature in the corridor was not much different from that outside, so she didn't want him to get cold.

"I was worried you didn't have enough coal, so I brought you some. It's unusually cold tonight, so please don't sleep too soundly."

We need to stay vigilant at all times. I just heard on the walkie-talkie that some houses in the bungalow area have collapsed under the weight of the snow.

As Lin Nan spoke, he dragged in a large basket of honeycomb briquettes he had brought over and quickly closed the door.

In the short time it took to open the door, Cao Xue felt the air outside was bone-chillingly cold.

Has this reached the Ice Age described in books? Will the temperatures stay this cold forever?

Things had finally calmed down a bit during this period, but it seems fate is determined to see them living a comfortable life. Things could change at any moment.

"Thank you. You're probably running low on coal too, aren't you? Who knows when it'll warm up? You should keep it for yourself." Cao Xue didn't want to owe him a favor, especially now.

Lin Nan had been pursuing her. But she hadn't agreed yet. After being betrayed by Zhang Xiaoqiang, she now had little faith in men.

"I still have a lot of wood stored up. I've been preparing for a sudden change in weather for a while now. I've been going up the mountain to cut down trees quite a bit during the summer."

Lin Nan's words made Cao Xue look at him with a newfound respect. This kind of man was quite calculating in his daily life. He knew how to plan ahead and wouldn't be caught off guard at a crucial moment.

"Don't be stingy with this coal. Tell me when you're done. It's getting late, you should get some rest."

Lin Nan gave Cao Xue a deep look, then quickly opened the door and left. He had been thinking about this place the whole time.

They only came to check on her when the temperature had dropped so low, mainly because they were worried that Cao Xue might have fallen asleep and the stove might have gone out, potentially causing another accident.

After Cao Xue saw him leave, she quickly closed the door and hung a quilt over it to block the gap.

To avoid letting in any draft. I don't dare to sleep right now. I'm sitting in front of the stove, holding a hot water bottle, and my feet are still a bit cold.

I simply pulled the bed over, sat down, wrapped myself in the blanket, leaned against the headboard, and kept my eyes open until around 7 a.m. the next morning.

I just came downstairs and pushed open the door to see what was outside.

But after pushing it twice, the door wouldn't open.

Cao Xue panicked immediately. How could this be? Was it frozen solid? Or did the snow blow into the corridor and block the door?
