Chapter 354 Getting Bold

This municipal building is quite distinctive, consisting of four circular buildings that form a staggered and well-organized space.

The exterior is entirely made of glass curtain walls, but due to the devastation caused by the natural disaster, almost all of the exterior glass has been shattered.

The former luxury and prestige are completely gone; only the tattered national flag in front of the building still flutters in the wind.

Xiao Lingfeng walked over, saluted the national flag, and then took Jian Ning's hand and silently walked inside.

The lobby on the first floor was filled with dried silt and rotting bones.

There was also feces from some unknown source.

"Let's go upstairs. Even if there were a map in this office, it wouldn't be usable."

Jian Ning tugged at Xiao Lingfeng and said.

"Okay, let's go upstairs." The two didn't take the stairs, but flew directly through the wall to the sixth floor. Because of the height of the floor, apart from the snow that melted into the room due to the broken glass, the things in the room were quite well preserved.

Jian Ning looked at the brand-new computer and printer on the desk and put them away.

Xiao Lingfeng found the map in another office.

"The building materials market is to the north, quite a distance from here. Are these computers still usable? They can't connect to the internet now."

"If we need to collect these materials now, we might find them useful when we need them in the future. So that we can find them when we need them later."

“My wife is right. Since we have space, let’s collect all the useful things in this building. We can take these tables too, even if we don’t need them, they can be used to start a fire.”

"Okay, let's each take one floor and meet on the rooftop."

The two of them working together is a bit slow. Anyway, in this office building, the only things we'll really need are the computers and some electronic products; the rest aren't that useful.

Xiao Lingfeng nodded in agreement and quickly went upstairs. A little over ten minutes later, the two met on the rooftop.

"There's also a grain bureau in this building. I looked at the documents, and there's a grain reserve warehouse here. How about we go and load up the grain first?"

"Great! My husband is amazing. Having food is more important than anything else." Jiangsu Province is a populous province, so its grain reserves must be plentiful.

So the two of them took the map and searched their way there.

The fact that the grain storage warehouse here still had electricity was something neither of them had expected.

Moreover, the grain in the granary is perfectly preserved, with hundreds of thousands of tons of each type of rice and wheat. If this were just for the people at the base, it would be enough to feed them for ten years without them going hungry.

"Take them all, or leave some?" Jian Ning hesitated.

"Take two-thirds of it,"

Xiao Lingfeng considered it for a moment. He figured the people in the city probably hadn't thought about food reserves yet. If there was nothing inside when they came looking for him, wouldn't that be cutting off their livelihood?

We're all compatriots, so we should leave some room for maneuver when we do things.

Jian Ning nodded and began harvesting the grain. The two of them were busy working on it.

Suddenly, a loudspeaker outside shouted, "People in the granary, come out! Where did you come from? Opening the granary without permission is illegal, do you know that? This is all life-saving grain!"

"There are people outside, shall we go out?" Jian Ning stopped what she was doing and asked.

"Let's go take a look. We've collected all the grain in this granary." Xiao Lingfeng leisurely packed all the rice inside into his spatial storage before walking out with Jian Ning.

A truck was parked in the open space outside, with a sniper rifle mounted on its roof. A bald man was staring at them with a sharp gaze, looking ready to open fire at the slightest provocation.

Standing at the car door below was a thin, long-faced man with a full beard, making it impossible to see his features. However, judging from the voice he had just spoken, he was probably not very old.

Seeing Jian Ning and her companion emerge empty-handed, the man nodded in satisfaction.

“I don’t care where you’re from, get out of here right now. This area is under the control of Boss Li. If you’re thinking of coming here to freeload, you’d better see if you have the ability.”

"Brother, can we meet this Boss Li you mentioned?" Xiao Lingfeng asked with a smile.

"Don't try to get close to me, our boss is busy and doesn't have time to see you. You didn't touch the things in here, did you?"

Although the two were empty-handed, the man was still a little uneasy. He looked them up and down, especially Jian Ning; such a beautiful woman had been a rare sight since the apocalypse.

"Of course not. Neither of us had a bag on us, so how could we have anything in it? We just saw a granary here and thought we'd come over to see if we could find anything to eat."

But when we opened the granary just now, it was completely empty, not a single grain of rice. Even a rat would regret coming here.” The man paused, stunned, after Xiao Lingfeng finished speaking.

"Empty? No way, you're lying to me?"

"Why would I lie to you? If you don't believe me, go and see for yourself. This granary can't be missing. Besides, if there really was grain, where would it be right now? My eyes aren't that bad."

Hearing Xiao Lingfeng's words, the man was somewhat skeptical, but he would never believe that such a large granary would be completely empty unless he saw it with his own eyes.

"You guys go over there and crouch down against the wall, don't move. Otherwise we'll shoot." He then pointed to an open space not far away.

"There's no need, brother. If you don't want to take us to see your boss, we'll leave now. You saw it yourself. My wife and I didn't take anything with us." Xiao Lingfeng spread his hands and turned around in a circle.

"Alright, third brother, let them leave."

The man said something to the car and then waved. Xiao Lingfeng, holding Jian Ning's hand, swaggered out, as if the sniper rifle on the roof didn't exist at all.

“Brother Qiang, these two are definitely not ordinary people, and they’re from out of town. We’ve never heard of them around here. They’re pretty bold.” The man on the roof of the car put away his sniper rifle and jumped down to say.

"Who cares what they're here for? As long as it doesn't affect our lives, let's go take a look."

Qiang strode towards the granary, and when he looked inside from the doorway, his eyes widened in shock, and he even rubbed them a couple of times.

How could there not be a single grain of food in this granary?

Just like that man said, even rats would regret coming here. How come this is cleaner than a face?

"Brother Qiang, I work here, so the food supply is definitely full. Do those two have some kind of superpower? Like the ability to store things?"

The bald man suddenly remembered hearing that some people who had been injected with gene-enhancing drugs had this ability, so he casually mentioned it.

“If you’re sure there was food before, then it’s certain these two have spatial abilities. Go back and tell the boss we can’t let them just leave like that. They’re incredibly audacious to try and take our food away from us.”
