As soon as she entered, Nalan Rong came to greet her and reported on the situation of the giant pandas.
"I'll go check. You plant these two herbs; they like cool, moist places. Give them plenty of spiritual energy." Jian Ning handed him two Nine-Turn Profound Yin Grasses, then went to the newly planted bamboo grove.
Two adorable black and white dumplings were sitting in a row, each holding a large bamboo shoot, eating with great relish.
Upon seeing Jian Ning approach, the giant panda shifted its rear end slightly, but did not stand up.
The little panda dropped the bamboo shoots it was holding and came running over, clinging to Jian Ning's leg and acting all cute.
"Your mother is alright now. Will you be living here from now on, or will you be moving out?"
"Asking you is pointless. While I'm in Miao territory, you can live here for now. When I leave, we'll see what you decide."
Jian Ning stroked the red panda's fluffy ears. It seemed to understand and whimpered twice.
The giant panda glanced at Jian Ning, then moved its rear end back to its original spot and continued eating heartily. It showed no sign of fear whatsoever.
Jian Ning placed a few apples in front of it.
"Eat up, and recover your body so you can survive in the future." After saying that, he turned and left the space, heading to the Immortal Abode.
On the ninth floor of the Exquisite Pavilion, Minglan's figure had become so ethereal that her face was no longer discernible; she was merely a wisp of white mist in the shape of a human, floating silently in the air.
"Minglan, are you alright? Take a look, is this the Nine-Turn Profound Yin Grass?" As soon as Jian Ning came in, she held up the herb in her hand high to show him.
"Where did you find it? This world actually has such a herb!" Minglan's aged voice carried a hint of surprise. White mist surged, directly enveloping Jian Ning's hand holding the herb.
"It will take me at least two years to absorb and refine it. During this time, the Linglong Treasure Pavilion will be completely closed."
"Your immortal abode is now in your own hands to maintain. I will come out to help you once I have recovered all my power."
As soon as Minglan finished speaking, Jian Ning was bounced away by a gentle force.
Standing on the bustling street outside, Jian Ning couldn't help but smile. So impatient, it seemed she really was about to give up.
"Miss Jian, what are you doing standing here? It's been so long since I've seen you. I wonder where Mr. Xiao has gone. Please come in and have a seat."
"Auntie, I have other things to do, so I won't bother you any longer." Jian Ning didn't have time to waste here, so she smiled and declined, then quickly walked out of the city and disappeared in a few leaps.
After leaving the immortal abode, the first thing he did was send a message to Xiao Lingfeng, telling him his location, but he didn't hear a reply for quite a while.
I couldn't help but feel a little puzzled.
Where did this person go? Are there still places that the sound transmission talisman can't reach?
Miao territory is so vast, and there's nowhere to look for him, so they simply returned to the place they had initially agreed upon and waited for him to come back.
With nothing to do, I set up a campfire, took a pre-killed rabbit from my spatial storage, and roasted it over the fire. The rich aroma of the meat wafted out on the evening breeze.
Especially the barbecue seasoning sprinkled on the rabbit meat, the aroma of cumin is just too overpowering. It makes your mouth water just smelling it.
Just as the rabbit meat was roasting until it was golden brown and almost cooked, Jian Ning's ears twitched. Suddenly, she heard footsteps in the distance.
Although her voice was very soft, she was no ordinary person; even the sound of a gentle breeze could not escape her ears.
He turned around and looked back.
Two young men dressed in traditional Miao clothing were holding crossbows and were pointing them at her warily.
"Are you hungry? I'm just passing by and looking for something to eat. I mean no harm. Want to come and have some with me?"
Jian Ning picked up the rabbit roasting over the fire and gestured for it to be served. She didn't know if the two of them could speak Mandarin.
But what era are we living in now? Even in remote areas where information is scarce, people should be able to understand each other, especially since these two look to be only in their early twenties.
Before the end times, everywhere will be connected to the internet.
"Where are you from? Do you still have food?" The person who spoke clearly didn't speak Mandarin very well, and each sentence was spoken very awkwardly.
"I came from Jiang City. This is the only rabbit I have left. Of course, I caught it in these mountains. Do many people live here? I don't see any people living in the village. Where do you live?"
Jian Ning was quite curious about this.
"The mountaintop!" The young man pointed upwards, then hesitated for a moment before taking a silver ring off his hand.
"Can I trade this for half of the rabbit meat? If you have any extra seasoning, you can sell us some too."
“Okay.” Jian Ning agreed readily, took out a small knife, cut half of the roasted rabbit meat and handed it over.
The young man came over and exchanged the ring for the rabbit meat, while still holding the crossbow in his other hand in a defensive stance, indicating that he had not let his guard down around Jian Ning.
"This is not a place you can just wander around. If you find anything, leave as soon as possible."
As the man left with the rabbit meat, he kindly turned back and said something to Jian Ning. He was probably doing it because of the half-rabbit.
"Okay, I'll leave once I find my companions."
Jian Ning didn't plan to stay any longer; she had already obtained the Nine-Turn Profound Yin Grass. She was just waiting for Xiao Lingfeng to return before leaving; she was quite worried about her family.
But after waiting for two days without seeing Xiao Lingfeng return, Jian Ning was really getting anxious.
They hurried back to the immortal abode. They went to the base and dragged Huang Fugui, who was lying on the sofa watching TV, out of there.
"Quick, find out where Xiao Lingfeng went. How come there's no news of him at all?"
"Where is this, Master? This place is full of miasma and poisonous creatures. What are you doing here?"
"Has Xiao Lingfeng been poisoned?" As soon as Huang Fugui came out, it covered its nose with its little paws. It was very sensitive to the smell in the air.
"Stop talking nonsense and hurry up and find someone. This is an antidote pill; take one and you'll be fine."
As Jian Ning spoke, she took out a pill and put it into Huang Fugui's mouth.
It could only grit its teeth and swallow it down, choking so badly that its eyes rolled back in its head because the pill was a bit big.
Jian Ning looked at its silly appearance, pursed her lips, and then gave it a bottle of mineral water.
Huang Fugui gulped down the whole thing in one go, then sniffed and shook his head.
“Xiao Lingfeng isn’t here; he’s too far away. I can’t smell his scent.”
"Then let's go this way."
Jian Ning led Huang Fugui and searched in the direction Xiao Lingfeng had left. Since four or five days had passed and it had rained, finding someone by following their scent was proving quite difficult.
