Chapter 56 The World Is About to Change

This jade pendant space is great. At least it's very convenient for taking a shower, and the temperature inside is just right, unlike outside where, although the rain has stopped, it's still almost 40 degrees Celsius.

She dried her hair in the space, then roughly sorted out the things she had collected that day, filling two huge woven bags with supplies. She then went out and delivered them to Xiao Lingfeng.

Xiao Lingfeng must have just finished showering, as water droplets were still dripping from his hair. He was wearing a black vest that revealed his muscular chest, and the moment he opened the door, he was hit with a burst of hormones.

"These things are for you. I have quite a few more. If you need anything in the future, just ask me for them." Jian Ning lowered her head slightly, but her eyes couldn't help but glance at Xiao Lingfeng.

This era is truly wonderful. In the world of cultivation, all the men cover themselves up completely, not revealing a single muscle.

Aside from looks, don't even think about anything else. Where else can you find such great benefits? I feel like I'd be doing myself a disservice if I didn't take a second look.

"Okay, I got it. Would you like to come in and sit down? Tian Tian really likes the volleyball you gave her." Xiao Lingfeng took the bag from Jian Ning's hand, which made him take a step forward, almost pressing down on Jian Ning.

His face flushed inexplicably. Why was it so heavy? Jian Ning seemed to be carrying it quite easily. He must have been careless.

"Let me hold one for you, this is a bit too much," Jian Ning said, her nose filled with the fresh scent of shower gel. She involuntarily sniffed.

It smells so good, not too strong. I really want to ask him what brand he uses so I can use the same one.

But she managed to control her mouth; she couldn't be too infatuated and scare people away.

"Xiao Ning, come in quickly. I made dumplings for lunch, beef and radish filling. Have some with us." Aunt Wang came out of the kitchen, saw Jian Ning standing at the door, and quickly invited her in.

"Thank you, Auntie, but it's no trouble at all. I'll just eat at my brother's house." Jian Ning didn't go inside. She smiled at Xiao Lingfeng, then turned and ran away, as if something was chasing her.

"Lingfeng, why are you being so formal, Xiaoning? Are you worried that we won't have anything to eat? Are you feeling embarrassed?" Aunt Wang wasn't just being polite; she genuinely wanted Jian Ning to come and eat dumplings.

Before the typhoon hit, Xiao Lingfeng converted an entire bedroom into a cold storage room and installed several generators. The room was filled with various kinds of fish and meat, all frozen solid.

There's enough to eat for over ten years without any problem, not to mention the rice, flour, and cooking oil upstairs. It's more than enough for the mother and her two children.

"I'll pack some up and send them to her later, Mom. I'll help you roll out the dough." Xiao Lingfeng smiled. Actually, he could tell that the little girl was embarrassed, so he didn't insist that she stay.

They carried both huge woven bags into the living room.

Upon opening it, I found not only the things I had collected that day, but also quite a few children's toys, books, puzzles, dolls, and the like. She really put her heart into it.

I called Tian Tian over and let her pick out all the toys herself.

"Did Sister Ning give these to me? She's such a kind person. I really love these toys." Tian Tian jumped up and down happily several times before starting to pack her things.

Xiao Lingfeng ignored her and went to the kitchen to help.

Don't let his gender fool you; cooking is no challenge for him at all. He rolls out dumpling wrappers with lightning speed, and in no time, he has a huge stack of them on the cutting board.

"Lingfeng, I think that little girl from the Jian family is really nice. She's beautiful and well-behaved. Don't you have any ideas about her?" Aunt Wang asked while wrapping dumplings in her hands.

"Mom, what time is it now? You're still thinking about this? It's not easy to survive in this world."

"Don't try to fool me. Just tell me if you like her or not. I saw it just now. The way you looked at the girl was different from usual."

You're not young anymore. When your brother was your age, Tian Tian was already born.

I wonder how they are doing abroad. Communication is down, and I can't get in touch with them. Thank goodness I didn't take Tian Tian with me when I left, or I would be so worried.”

"It'll be fine. There are aid organizations abroad too. At most, it'll just be a little tough."

Xiao Lingfeng knew in his heart that his elder brother and sister-in-law would never see each other again in this lifetime.

But she still had to keep it from her mother and couldn't tell the truth. If her mother didn't know, she could still have hope. But if she found out the truth, she might not be able to bear it.

As soon as the plump, white dumplings came out of the pot, Xiao Lingfeng filled two large plates and sent them over to 1601.

"Oh, it's Xiao Xiao! Making dumplings? This is definitely Sister Wang's cooking. Come in quickly, I just cooked a pot of braised dishes, I'll take some over with you." Aunt Li opened the door, smiling as she took the dumplings and insisted on pulling Xiao Lingfeng inside.

She first put the plate of dumplings on the table, then ran off to the kitchen. Today she made braised pig's trotters, pig's head meat, and pig's liver, filling a whole big pot.

The whole house smelled of braised food. They took a little of each kind, filled a small bowl, and even went upstairs to cut a large bunch of chives. These chives were growing so well that the family couldn't possibly finish them all.

"Here you go, Xiao Xiao. Keep these chives to make chive pancakes. If you run out of eggs, come and ask Auntie for some. I keep a lot of chickens upstairs, and they all lay eggs."

"Thank you, Aunt Li. We still have eggs at home, and we'll definitely need your help sometime in the future."

Unable to refuse, Xiao Lingfeng had no choice but to accept them all. He glanced at Jian Ning, who was sitting by the window looking outside, hesitated for a moment, and then walked over with the things, asking, "What are you looking at?"

"The water level has dropped, and the wind direction has changed; it's now blowing from the northwest. Xiao Lingfeng, I reckon the weather is about to change."

"After we finish eating, let's go out and make a list later to see what we need most urgently, and try to find everything."

If you really don't have any, see if you can find any substitutes. Take out all the thick blankets in a little while, just in case it gets suddenly cold.

Upon hearing Jian Ning's words, Xiao Lingfeng immediately realized the seriousness of the situation. Communication hadn't been restored yet; should he notify the government?

“Okay, I just had a feeling, it might not be accurate,” Jian Ning said, then picked up the walkie-talkie to contact the 15th floor.

"Cao Xue, are you home?" After a long silence, it seemed they had gone out.

"Let's eat first. We'll meet at the entrance in 40 minutes." Jian Ning put down the walkie-talkie and looked at Xiao Lingfeng very seriously.

“Okay,” Xiao Lingfeng said, taking the braised food and chives and turning to leave, making sure to quietly close the door behind him.

Jian Ning quickly did a mental inventory. She actually had almost everything in her storage space, except for some special equipment. She hadn't eaten much of the food she'd stockpiled at the food street, including the fried chicken and hamburgers.

I've also stocked up on a lot of various cooked and braised foods. I'm never short of food.
