Chapter 6 Dog Man and Woman

Miao Xin looked at Jian Ning with pleading eyes, as if the jade pendant was extremely important to her. If it were the Jian Ning of the past, she would definitely have agreed.

Unfortunately, she had long since hardened her heart with iron during those long years of cultivation. She wouldn't agree to beg like this, let alone kneel down.

"No, this jade pendant is also very important to me. I won't lend it to you. You can go back now, and please don't bother me again in the future."

After Jian Ning finished speaking, she took out her keys, opened the door, and was about to go inside when Li Mingxuan grabbed her wrist.

He stared at her in disbelief and asked, "Jian Ning, what's wrong with you? You never used to refuse my and Miao Xin's requests."

"It's just borrowing a jade pendant to trace a pattern; it's not like I'm not going to return it. Why are you being so heartless?"

"I was naive before, but now I don't want to be friends with you anymore. Is there a problem?"

Remember, I'm not your mother, and I have no obligation to grant your every wish. Get out of my way; don't keep me from going back to rest.

After Jian Ning finished speaking, she shook off Li Mingxuan's hand, went inside, slammed the door shut, and locked it.

"Mingxuan! I feel like Jian Ning is a completely different person. Why does she hate me so much?"

"You know, I've always considered her my best friend, and I've always treated her with my whole heart!" Miao Xin covered her face with her hands and began to sob.

Seeing her tear-streaked face, Li Mingxuan felt his heart clench with pain. He put an arm around Miao Xin's shoulder and pulled her into his embrace.

He gently comforted her, "Don't cry. I understand how you feel. Jian Ning might be doing something we don't know."

"So you're in a bad mood. Let's go back first and let Jian Ning calm down. Don't worry, I'll definitely get that jade pendant back for you in a few days. Just wait patiently."

"Alright, Mingxuan, I can only rely on you for this. Please don't let me down!" Miao Xin sobbed softly, her voice trembling with tears.

"Yes, I'm sure I can get it. Let's go back. Don't cry anymore, you're all covered in tears!" Li Mingxuan tenderly wiped Miao Xin's tears with his hand and then carried her downstairs.

Jian Ning saw them walking out of the residential complex arm in arm from her balcony and couldn't help but spit. What a despicable couple! The original owner of this body must have been blind to consider such wicked people as good friends! And she even kept pursuing Li Mingxuan.

Although he is indeed good-looking, he is obviously a pretty boy and a complete scumbag.

Having seen countless handsome men in the cultivation world, she truly didn't find anything about Li Mingxuan that was likable.

Shaking his head, he returned to the table and sat down, opened the wholesale website, changed the shipping address to the warehouse address, and then started placing orders like crazy.

Salt, bring me 500 jin (250 catties), that should last her for decades. White sugar, brown sugar, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, aged vinegar, rice vinegar, peanut oil—200 cases of each. I also negotiated with customer service for the lowest possible discount.

Then I bought various seasonings: chili powder, cumin powder, chive blossom sauce, tofu broth, fermented bean paste, hot pot base, and Lao Gan Ma chili oil. This tastes so good, I need to stock up!

In the apocalypse, nothing tastes good. Even just eating plain steamed buns with a little chili oil can whet the appetite. I'll buy 500 boxes of this. And 200 boxes of everything else.

The customer service staff were stunned by the number of orders she placed; this was a big customer, someone they hadn't encountered in years.

They quickly sent a message, offering not only a 15% discount,

They also sent several boxes of things. I've ordered delivery by logistics, it should arrive in three days, I'll call her in advance.

Jian Ning was very satisfied with this service attitude.

She then opened a snack shop and bought a lot of potato chips, dried mango, pork jerky, spicy strips, shredded vegetarian beef, and a huge Want Want gift pack.

Jian Ning had never eaten these things when she was cultivating immortality, but in the original owner's memories, they were all particularly delicious, so she wanted to buy more to try.

There were also all kinds of bread, biscuits, rye bread, steamed cakes, ham sausages, canned luncheon meat, canned fish with fermented black beans, braised eggs, and salted duck eggs. I bought 500 boxes of each.

I was so happy with my purchase; spending money feels so good.

Then there was another knock on the door.

Jian Ning closed the shopping page, walked over, and opened the door. There was her rascal brother again.

"Jian Ning, I bought you a late-night snack, your favorite crayfish." She squeezed in, carrying the takeout box.

"Just say what's on your mind." Jian Ning was very uncomfortable with his current behavior. Usually, aside from coming over to ask for money, he had never bought her late-night snacks and brought them over.

"Girl, I really have to thank you. My boss is in trouble! The guy who took my place had his leg cut off. And most of his men have been captured."

I'm so glad I did. If I had gone, I would be the one who got hurt now, and I would be in jail too.

"Girl, you're truly my savior. From now on, I'll listen to you in everything." Jian Anping plopped down on the sofa, his face full of lingering fear.

"It's not too late to understand now. You're almost thirty, you need to do something serious. What good will you get out of hanging out with those people all day?

"It's good to take this opportunity to cut off contact with them. After I marry Mengyao, I can just live a good life."

Jian Ning sat down, opened the lunchbox on the table, put on disposable gloves, peeled open the crayfish, took a bite, and found it both numbing and spicy—it tasted absolutely delicious!

"Is there any wine at home? I'd like some too?" Before Jian Ning could answer, Jian Anping went over and rummaged through the refrigerator. Sure enough, he found a small bottle of baijiu (Chinese liquor). He took a glass and poured himself a little over half a glass.

"Hey girl, I rented an apartment today. It's in Jinmao Mansion, on the sixteenth floor. It's the top floor with an attic, and the total usable area is over 200 square meters. It also has a huge terrace. How about you come and live with me?"

When I was looking at apartments, there were three units on this floor. The middle one was also for rent, but it was a bit small. I figured I'd let you move in with me, so I rented a bigger one.”

After hearing Jian Anping's words, Jian Ning hesitated for a moment. This house was definitely uninhabitable. When the apocalypse came, heavy rain could flood up to the eighth floor.

The higher the building, the safer it is. As far as I remember, the buildings in Jinmao Mansion were of pretty good quality.

It didn't collapse even during an earthquake. And being neighbors with Jian Anping would mean they could look after each other. After all, this person was the original owner's only family member, and now that she'd taken over this body, it wouldn't be right not to take care of her.

"Okay, I'll go take a look tomorrow. If it's suitable, I'll rent one too."

"Hey girl, we're rich, but we don't spend money like that. Can't you give us a room?"

"It's just the two of us, your sister-in-law and me, and the house is so big." Jian Anping stopped drinking and looked at Jian Ning, completely bewildered by her thinking.
