Chapter 80 Good Friends

Jian Ning never dreamed of this. Back then, the two of them were so close they were practically one person. Before, Lin Xueying's parents went to work in another city, leaving her alone at home with her grandmother.

Although Jian Ning's family wasn't very wealthy, she would always bring two extra meat buns or a scallion pancake for Lin Xue to eat every time she went to school.

They used to go to school together, catch fish together in the stream at the village entrance, and play games like throwing beanbags and jumping rope. How did these happy childhood friends change so much as they grew up?

"Ningning, I came back to my hometown for a visit. I stayed in the countryside for a few days and then came to my uncle's house. I didn't expect to be stranded here because of the torrential rain."

I went to the place where you used to rent to look for you, but I couldn't find you. I thought something had happened to you.

After all, quite a few people have died recently, especially in my uncle's neighborhood. Every day, people who froze to death are thrown out of the neighborhood.

"That was terrifying. Where are you staying now? Is it also at this shelter? Should I talk to my uncle? Come home with me." Lin Xueying pulled Jian Ning, trying to walk back.

But her feet seemed rooted to the spot. She didn't move an inch.

"You came here by yourself?" The voice was as cold as ice outside.

"Of course not, my uncle wouldn't feel comfortable letting me come out alone. They're right there."

"Come on, my uncle often talks about you." Lin Xue didn't notice Jian Ning's unusual behavior at all. She still pulled her along forcefully.

"I won't go. I have other things to do." Jian Ning controlled the emotions of this body. She couldn't take action now; it was too close to the military garrison.

While Lin Xue wasn't paying attention, he threw a tracking talisman at her.

With this, Lin Xue will have no chance of escaping her grasp.

He kept repeating to himself, "Jian Ning, just wait a little longer. I will make this enemy who killed you in your past life suffer even more than you did."

"Alright then, I live in Jinxiu Garden, Building 3, Room 1802. If you need anything, just come find me there! If the road opens up in a few days, maybe I can go home."

"I brought you a gift this time. Where do you live? Should I deliver it to your house later?" Lin Xueying was really happy; meeting Jian Ning today was a truly unexpected surprise.

“I’m staying at a friend’s house, which isn’t very convenient. You know the place I used to rent was flooded.” Jian Ning didn’t want to tell her where she was staying now.

“Okay, my uncle is calling me. It’s really cold outside. Come visit me when you have time,” Lin Xueying said, taking out a bag of cookies and two pieces of dark chocolate from her pocket and stuffing them into Jian Ning’s hand.

She ran a few steps, then turned back and waved at Jian Ning. Watching her receding figure, Jian Ning let out a cold laugh.

She threw what she was holding onto the ground. She wouldn't accept anything from that heartless woman.

Lin Xueying, just you wait. I'll let you be happy for a little longer, but you won't see the sun rise tomorrow morning.

When Jian Ning got home, she didn't smile at all. As she stepped into the elevator, she found another family from the 13th floor already inside.

Upon seeing Jian Ning approach, the men in the house immediately took a step back.

He shielded his wife behind him, carefully watching Jian Ning. He was afraid that Jian Ning would remember the last time they raided her house and come back for revenge.

The bag he was holding contained two packs of cookies and three large fish, still covered in ice crystals; needless to say, they had just been taken out of it.

He had intended to offer this as an apology, but he didn't dare to speak, because Jian Ning's chilling aura was emanating from her, making him feel particularly frightened.

Unexpectedly, Jian Ning completely ignored them. After swiping her card, the elevator slowly ascended, making a creaking sound.

When they reached the thirteenth floor, the elevator swayed and stopped. As soon as the doors opened, the couple rushed out, not even bothering to pick up their gloves that had fallen off.

Jian Ning returned home and used a fireball spell to light the stove. The room warmed up in no time.

They also took out a large meal they had previously ordered from the restaurant from the space.

Stir-fried sea cucumber with jade-green hue, honey-glazed pork ribs, lobster baked with wasabi, and baby bok choy in morel and broth. Each dish was exquisitely prepared, and the portion sizes were small, enough for two people.

He picked up the walkie-talkie and called Xiao Lingfeng.

The other end answered quickly: "You're back?"

"Yeah, I'm in a bad mood today. Why don't you come over and have a couple of drinks with me?" Jian Ning hung up the walkie-talkie before Xiao Lingfeng could reply.

He took out another bottle of red wine before slowly going to open the door.

Xiao Lingfeng happened to walk to the door, holding a plate in his hand.

"My mom just made these pan-fried buns, have a taste."

"Come in, Aunt Wang's cooking is really good." Jian Ning took the plate and went back into the house to put it on the dining table.

"So lavish?" Xiao Lingfeng glanced at the dishes on the table. He had never seen her cook since he met her.

I guess this is some restaurant's leftover stock. It looks delicious and looks amazing.

"Please sit down, don't be shy. I won't let you drink too much today, just one bottle of red wine is enough for the two of us."

As Jian Ning spoke, she poured Xiao Lingfeng a small glass of red wine to help him sober up. She sat down, propping her chin on her hand, and looked at his god-like handsome face.

My frustration suddenly dissipated considerably.

"Did someone offend you today?" Xiao Lingfeng sat down in the chair opposite her, picked up the wine bottle, and poured her some red wine. He asked softly.

"Yeah, I ran into a classmate from before, someone I grew up with. After graduating from high school, she went to university in the province, while I stayed here. I wasn't a good student, so I only went to university in the city."
