Chapter 19 Making a Quilt

Jian Ning had just taken a couple of sips of tea when a chubby middle-aged man came running back.

Upon entering the store, I immediately spotted Jian Ning sitting in a chair. I was slightly taken aback; I hadn't expected someone who wanted to buy something to be so young. She looked like a student.

However, she still walked over with a smile, "Hello, I'm the owner of this shop. Is there anything you like? I'll bring it over for you to take a look."

"Hello boss, I plan to buy a few more items from your store, probably around thirty or forty pieces. If you can give me a big discount, I won't go to other stores."

"That's easy. Which ones have you taken a look at? Let me see, and then we can discuss the price."

Upon hearing Jian Ning's words, the shop owner realized she was a big customer and immediately called over a staff member to bring over everything Jian Ning wanted.

I ordered a total of 42 items, the largest of which was a jade ox. The price tag was 260,000 yuan, while the others were much cheaper in comparison.

"You want all of these? I'll give you a 25% discount."

The shop owner thought Jian Ning was buying merchandise for his own store; most people don't buy decorative items like that. There's no set method at all; it's all about being completely whimsical.

"Half price, I'll pay right away." Jian Ning knew that the jade trade was a murky business.

I figured I wouldn't lose money even if I gave him a 30% discount, but the price was too low and the boss definitely wouldn't agree, so I cut it in half.

"No, if it's 50% off, I won't even have enough capital. Besides, I can't make these things myself. Let's compromise and go for 60% off."

As the shopkeeper spoke, he picked up the abacus and added up the prices of all the items.

He then said to Jian Ning, "These items add up to 4.88 million, I'll give you a 40% discount, so it's 2.928 million. I'll also round it down, so you can just give me 2.9 million."

"Okay, pack it up for me. Can you deliver it?" So many things are hard to carry. Jian Ning asked.

"Sure, I'll take you there in my car. Where will you stay?"

Only then did Jian Ning realize that she didn't have a place to stay. So she smiled and asked:

"Boss, are there any hotels nearby that are close by?"

"Yes, I thought you were a local. I couldn't tell from your accent at all."

There's a four-star hotel right next to our market. The environment is decent, and I know the manager there. I can get you an insider price.

As the boss spoke, he picked up his phone and booked a double room for Jian Ning.

After watching all the items being packed and loaded into the car, Jian Ning paid. The shop owner even gave her a handwritten receipt. It was quite professional.

When they arrived at the hotel, he didn't let Jian Ning pay for the room. After all, this order was equivalent to three months of his income. This guy was a cash cow, so he had to treat him well. Maybe he could come back to buy more goods in the future.

Jian Ning didn't argue with the owner. She was only staying one night, and with the discount, it would only cost less than 200 yuan, so there was no need to fight over it.

The waiter helped carry all the suitcases to the room. Only then did the owner say goodbye and leave.

Jian Ning closed the door, opened all the ornaments, and sat down to absorb the spiritual energy inside to begin her cultivation. Time was of the essence, and she couldn't afford to waste a single moment.

She was woken up by the ringing of the phone. The hotel customer service called to say it was almost 12 o'clock and asked if she needed to check out. Jian Ning then realized with a start that she had been cultivating all night and all morning.

No wonder my stomach was growling loudly.

After confirming the check-out with customer service, I got up, washed up, and put all the ornaments that had absorbed the spiritual energy into my space.

The night's work was remarkably effective; she's now at the peak of the third level of Qi Refining.

With just one trigger, I can advance to the fourth level. My whole body feels much lighter. I feel incredibly powerful.

It seems that no matter which world you're in, you have to spend money to gain power.

After packing her things and checking out of the hotel, she went to find a place to eat. Roast duck was a must; not only did she eat it, but she also bought fifty to keep on hand.

They won't sell more than that, saying it's a limited quantity each day. If you want more, you have to pre-order.

Jian Ning didn't want to stay in Beijing any longer; it would be safer to go back as soon as possible. However, she still bought a roast duck oven and a lot of charcoal to take back with her.

If I ever happen to meet a chef who can cook, I can help roast the ducks in the space. The taste doesn't have to be exactly the same. It'll satisfy my craving, won't it?

I went to the station and bought a ticket back to Jiang City. I didn't get back to Jinmao Mansion until evening.

Everything went very smoothly this time. The hot weather also made her feel less bored.

She swiped her card to enter the elevator. This was a high-end community where only residents could swipe their cards to access their own floors, which pleased Jian Ning.

At the very least, in the event of the apocalypse, if you want to go to the 16th floor, you simply can't get up there without an elevator card; the only way is to take the stairs. This provides a significant guarantee of safety.

After getting off the elevator, I knocked on Jian Anping's door first. After only two knocks, the door opened from the inside, and an elderly woman I didn't recognize came out.

"Girl, who are you looking for?"

"Isn't this Jian Anping's house?" Jian Ning was stunned for a moment, wondering if she had gone to the wrong place.

"Yes, you must be Xiao Jian's sister, right? Come in, I'm your neighbor, I live in 1603."

Xiao Li asked me to come help her make a quilt; she's in the bathroom right now.

As the old lady spoke, she stepped aside.

Jian Ning strode in and immediately noticed a thick cotton quilt spread on the living room floor.

There was also a little girl sitting on the sofa watching TV. When she saw Jian Ning come in, she quickly got off the sofa, her two little hands clasped together, looking a little restrained.

"Ningning, did you just get back? Let me introduce you. This is Aunt Wang, and this little girl is called Tiantian. She's our neighbor. I don't know how to make a quilt myself, so I'm asking Aunt Wang to come and help me."

Li Mengyao came out of the living room and saw Jian Ning. She was very happy and walked over to introduce her to her.

"Hello, Aunt Wang, Tian Tian, I have some candy for you."

Jian Ning quite liked this little girl; she was very pretty, with two small, crooked braids and big, bright eyes. She was adorable.

He took two chocolates out of his pocket and handed them over.

"Thank you, sister, but Second Uncle said we can't take things that don't belong to us." Tian Tian glanced at the chocolate in Jian Ning's hand, swallowed hard, but didn't take it.

"This child is so thoughtful. It's alright, I'm not an outsider, I'm your neighbor. Here, have some."

Jian Ning placed the chocolate in her hand into her little hand and asked her to sit down and watch TV.

Aunt Wang had already sat down and continued sewing the quilt. She was clearly someone who did housework regularly; her stitches were fine and her sew was exceptionally neat.

"Sister-in-law, can't we just buy ready-made bedding for the wedding? It's too much trouble to make it ourselves."

"There's a reason for this. It's considered lucky to make your own quilt. I can't really explain why, but your sister-in-law will make one for you when you get married."
