This must be the King Kong Bear that Huang Fugui mentioned. It looks to be over two meters tall, with every single hair on its body standing on end.
Seeing Jian Ning pounding her chest and roaring angrily, it was probably asking her why she had come to its territory and disturbed it.
"Don't be so hasty. Everything here is mine, including you, you big bear."
It was unclear whether the creature could understand Jian Ning's words. It roared to the sky and then jumped down with a bang, creating a large crater in the solid ground.
Dust flew everywhere, but thanks to Jian Ning's timely erection of a spiritual energy shield, she didn't get covered in dust.
"You big bear, you have no manners at all. Since you don't acknowledge me as your master, then I'll beat you into submission."
Let's see who's more capable.
After Jian Ning finished speaking, she punched the Golden Bear in the stomach with only half of her strength. Unexpectedly, the bear didn't even shake its body. Instead, it lowered its head and revealed a contemptuous smile.
It swatted down from above, aiming straight for Jian Ning's head, probably intending to shove Jian Ning into the ground.
But how could Jian Ning let it hit her? She darted behind the bear and kicked it, sending it sprawling to the ground.
Then he leaped onto it, using a powerful downward pull to pin it down, rendering it immobile.
Then he took out two rather large durians from the space.
One in each hand, he enveloped them in spiritual energy, lest the durians, being less robust than the bear's body, be damaged and rendered inedible. He worked from both sides, striking the giant bear until it howled incessantly.
"I give up, I'm not fighting anymore, okay? I'll acknowledge you as my master, alright?" A rough female voice rang in Jian Ning's mind. It turned out to be a female bear.
"Okay, you have to keep your word. Otherwise, next time I beat you up, I won't use this. I'll use a giant hammer made of Xuanming Iron and see if I can flatten you with one blow."
The Golden Bear grunted twice, sounding unwilling. Jian Ning removed the Thousand Gold Pendant and got off it. Then she asked.
"Are you the only bear here? Or do you have other companions?"
"Of course I'm not the only one. My mother and I live together, and the rest of our clansmen live in the distant mountains. Our job is to guard this spirit stone mine. What are you doing here, daring to sneak in and mine?"
The giant bear shook its big head and stood up. Seeing that Jian Ning was too short, it simply grabbed her in its hand and lifted her up to its head.
"Be gentle, why are you using so much force? Where is your mother? Take me to find her."
Jian Ning flicked away its claws, then stood in the air on her sword, looking at it at eye level.
"Come with me, but let's make this clear first. My mother has a bad temper, so you're not allowed to hit her. Wait until I explain to her that you're my master, and then she won't beat you up."
After the Golden Bear finished speaking, it spat out a mouthful of blood essence, which landed directly on Jian Ning's forehead. Immediately afterward, a contract formation appeared in front of her.
After a flash of light, the contract was successful, and the formation split in two, disappearing into Jian Ning and the Golden Bear's bodies respectively.
“Since you and I have signed a contract, I’ll name you Da Jin,” Jian Ning said. She was terrible at naming things, but looking at the golden fur on the Golden Bear’s body, she thought the name suited it well.
"Okay, I'll call you whatever I want. My mom calls me Big Bear." Big Gold didn't care about the name; it didn't mind, but it was very curious about the two durians that Jian Ning had taken out.
"What is this spiky thing? Why do I smell a stench? Master, did you take a dump?"
"What are you saying? You have no manners at all. This is fruit. Durian. It's delicious, but I bet you've never had one before. Here, let me open one and let you try it."
As Jian Ning spoke, she took out a kitchen knife from her spatial storage, cut open the durian, scooped out the flesh, and handed a piece to Da Xiong.
The strong smell made it cover its nose with its paws.
"Master, this is poop! How can you eat something so smelly? I don't want to!"
"You have to eat it. Once you've had it, I guarantee you'll want to eat it a second time." Without saying another word, Jian Ning jumped up, pried open its big paws, and stuffed the durian flesh into its mouth.
"Huh! Why is it sweet? Where did the stench go?"
Da Jin's eyes were full of doubt, but this thing was really delicious. It was soft and chewy, and very sweet. It was a taste that it had never tasted before.
He chewed it only twice before tilting his head back and swallowing it. He stared longingly at the remaining durian flesh in Jian Ning's hand, swallowing hard.
"See, I told you you'd like it. Here, these are all for you. This one that's unopened, I'll give it to your mother to try later."
Jian Ning handed the cut-open durian to Da Jin, who immediately took it, plopped down on the ground, and used its paws to dig out the durian flesh, eating it in large bites.
In less than a minute, he finished a large durian and licked his lips with a lingering sense of satisfaction.
"Hehe, Master, take that durian with me too, I'll carry you on my back. My mother lives on that mountain over there. It's quite a distance from here."
"Then thank you for your trouble." Jian Ning didn't stand on ceremony and handed the durian in her hand to it, then jumped onto its shoulder.
"Let's go. I won't fall, you can run as much as you want."
"Alright, Master, hold on tight."
Big Gold carefully cradled the durian in its two paws.
With long strides, she ran quickly and soon reached the opposite mountain. Jian Ning said, "When we came to dig the spirit stone mine yesterday, we didn't see it. It turns out it doesn't live here."
When Da Jin stopped and looked at the beautiful scenery before him,
Jian Ning couldn't help but exclaim in admiration. These two bears really knew how to find a place. I guess this is what the Water Curtain Cave in Journey to the West looks like.
A waterfall cascades down from the mountaintop, obscuring most of the cave entrance. The stream below is crystal clear, and every now and then, large black fish can be seen swimming by, swishing their tails.
The banks of the stream were lined with all sorts of unknown wildflowers and spiritual plants. The air was filled with a rich spiritual energy.
"The place you're staying is quite nice, with mountains and water. It seems your mother has quite a refined taste."
As soon as Jian Ning finished speaking, an even larger King Kong bear leaped out of the cave, standing upright at least four meters tall.
"Who are you? Where did you come from?" As soon as it appeared, it spoke in human language and looked at Jian Ning warily.
“I am the master of this immortal abode,” Jian Ning said, her hands behind her back, her head slightly raised as she looked at it.
"Master? Do you have a token?" King Kong Bear asked again.
"I am the master, what other tokens do I need? Everything here belongs to me now. For example, I can move you to another place right away." With that, Jian Ning waved her hand, and the enormous figure of the Golden Bear disappeared from the spot.
"Ah, Master, where did you take my mother?" Da Jin sensed its mother's presence, which vanished in an instant, as if she were no longer in this world, which terrified it.
