Chapter 55 Poisoning

Previously, when the Lin family shop was still in operation, Lin Yajun had planned to use the existing shop to sell some candy, but now the shop has been sold by her uncle Xu Xin.

After thinking for a moment, she decided to use the silver notes Zhao Canchen gave her to buy another shop to start a business.

Only by opening a shop could Lin Yajun convert this ill-gotten wealth into legitimate income. She planned to sell only one tael of goods a day, then falsely report to her family that she had sold one hundred taels. This way, her family wouldn't suspect the source of her wealth, and she could use it for household expenses with peace of mind.

With this in mind, Lin Yajun had more plans: first open a shop, and when the shop makes a lot of money, open an even bigger shop. That way, I can take out more gold and silver, and my family will no longer be short of money.

So, Lin Yajun smiled and said to her mother, "Mom, I want to go to the street today to see if there are any suitable shops that I can buy and start a small business."

Upon hearing his sister's words, Lin Songhao's eyes lit up, and he excitedly exclaimed, "Sister, I want to go too!" His face was beaming with joy, and he couldn't wait to go shopping with his sister.

"No, you must stay home and protect Young Master Zhao when your sister goes out." Lin Daoyan refused to let his son go out with her.

Zhao Canchen hesitated for a moment, worried that Lin Yajun might encounter danger if she went out alone, and suggested, "I also want to go for a walk in the street and buy a few books to read."

Lin Yajun readily agreed, "Okay, then the three of us will go together."

After listening to their conversation, Lin Daoyan thought for a moment and then agreed. He handed the roll of silver notes to his daughter and said, "Xiao Jun, take these silver notes and buy a shop. Make some money and pay it back to Young Master Zhao."

He then instructed, "You two shouldn't just focus on shopping; you must protect Young Master Zhao."

Lin Yajun accepted the silver notes with both hands and replied with a smile, "Yes, Father."

She thought to herself: It's more likely that Young Master Zhao will protect us; he has highly skilled bodyguards by his side.

She cleverly realized that Zhao Canchen's suggestion to go shopping together wasn't really to buy books, but rather because he was worried about her going out to buy a shop alone.

"Someone who is in danger himself is still thinking about protecting me." Lin Yajun was deeply moved. She thought to herself, "I will definitely do my best to protect your safety as well."

Lin Yajun had to go out to check on the shop, so she turned back to the west wing to get ready. She went inside and sat down directly at the dressing table.

Qiaoqing stepped forward, picked up a comb, and gently combed the young lady's hair. She quickly styled it into a cloud-like bun, secured it with a silver hairpin, and tucked a pink silk flower into the side of her hair.

Lin Yajun got up and picked out a slightly worn pink short-sleeved shirt from the wardrobe to change into, along with a pomegranate-colored long skirt.

After everything was ready, Lin Yajun went into the washroom, took off her skirt, sat on the wash tub, and assumed a posture as if she needed to relieve herself.

Qiaoqing lowered the curtain, took a basin, and went outside to fill a wooden bucket with water.

Taking this opportunity, Lin Yajun couldn't wait to slip into the space, eager to see how much she had gained.

After entering the space, Lin Yajun looked around and indeed found more than a dozen old boxes. These boxes looked very dilapidated, and compared with the exquisite wooden boxes in the Ren family mansion, they were simply a pile of junk.

Lin Yajun walked to the boxes, opened the tattered lids one by one, and peeked inside. She saw that the boxes were filled with broken gold nuggets, small pieces of silver, and copper coins with broken wires.

Although the money looked somewhat disorganized, a rough estimate put it at tens of thousands of taels of silver.

Looking at the money, Lin Yajun couldn't help but sneer inwardly: "Hmph, you two greedy bastards, you actually wanted to covet my family's wealth! You're too happy too soon. Now I've taken all your wealth, and you're back to having nothing."

Suddenly, Lin Yajun's gaze fell on the corner of an old wooden box, where a small white porcelain bottle was placed. Curious, she reached out and gently picked up the small white porcelain bottle, examining it carefully.

"Could this be that old witch's poison?" Lin Yajun wondered to herself, the image of that cunning and treacherous old witch flashing through her mind. The thought of poison made her furrow her brow slightly, and she decided to investigate further.

Lin Yajun carefully removed the stopper from the small white porcelain bottle, and a faint medicinal smell wafted out. She took out a thin silver needle from her bosom and gently inserted it into the bottle. When she took the needle out, she noticed that half of it had turned black.

"Hmph, just as I expected, this is poison!" Lin Yajun snorted coldly, a hint of resentment flashing in her eyes.

She remembered her grandparents, who had been poisoned to death by this wicked old witch. Not only that, the old witch also instigated Lin Jinghui to switch marriages and steal the dowry, physically assaulted people, and ultimately caused the original owner of this body to die unjustly.

"That old vile woman." Lin Yajun grew angrier the more she thought about it, her anger burning fiercely. However, she wasn't blinded by rage; instead, she quickly calmed down and began to think about how to make this old witch reap what she sowed.

Suddenly, a brilliant plan came to mind. Lin Yajun's lips curled up slightly, revealing a smile.

She realized that the poison had been stored for many years, and its effectiveness had probably diminished considerably. She took out a poisoned needle, inserted it into the small porcelain bottle without hesitation, and then gently stirred it to ensure that the poison and needle were in full contact, thus enhancing its toxicity.

Next, Lin Yajun took out a fly drone from her spatial storage.

This fly drone looks just like an ordinary fly, but it is actually a high-tech tool mainly used for photography and surveillance.

Lin Yajun took out a cotton swab, carefully applied the poison from the small bottle to the fly's wings, making sure the poison adhered evenly.

Finally, Lin Yajun set the flight target and action commands for the fly drone.

The moment Lin Yajun gave the command, the tiny fly-shaped drone seemed to come alive, quickly taking flight. Like an arrow released from a bow, it sped straight towards the outskirts of the city.

Before long, the fly drone arrived at its destination—a dilapidated farmhouse.

The farmhouse looked quite old, with mottled walls and broken roof tiles. The fly drone nimbly flew through the window and headed straight for a dilapidated wooden table inside.

On the table was a medicine bowl, half-filled with dark, murky liquid.

The fly drone plunged headfirst into the medicine bowl without hesitation, as if enjoying a luxurious bath. It swam happily in the medicine, its wings flapping incessantly, successfully washing the poison off its body.
