Chapter 56 Reap What You Sow

The fly drone swam around in the medicine bowl for a few moments before crawling out.

It was soaking wet and covered in medicinal liquid, but this did not hinder its movements at all. It nimbly shook its body, shaking off all the medicinal liquid, then flapped its wings and flew back into the air, where it hovered still.

Then the scene shows an old woman carrying a bowl of medicine and feeding it to an elderly woman who is lying in bed unable to move.

The old woman hurried forward and helped Granny Lin up from the bed, gently comforting her, "Madam, don't be anxious. Although this medicine tastes bitter, it's a good remedy to cure your illness. If you don't drink it, how can you recover?"

Upon hearing this, Old Lady Lin replied, "Alright, I'll drink it all." With that, she opened her dry lips and, like a whirlwind, downed the bowl of medicine in one gulp.

As soon as she swallowed the medicine, Old Lady Lin suddenly felt a strong wave of discomfort wash over her. She frowned and muttered to herself, "Why does my stomach hurt a little?"

Before she could finish speaking, the pain surged even more fiercely like a tide, and Old Lady Lin's face instantly turned as pale as paper, with a fine layer of sweat appearing on her forehead.

She groaned in pain, tossing and turning in bed, her hands tightly clutching her abdomen, as if trying to stop the relentless, excruciating pain.

"Ouch, this hurts so much!" Old Mrs. Lin's groans echoed in the room.

The poison took effect extremely quickly; in the blink of an eye, Old Lady Lin's body was tormented by excruciating pain to the point of almost losing consciousness.

Even so, because the dose of poison was small, it did not kill her immediately, but instead left her struggling in endless pain.

Now, Old Lady Lin has taken the poison she prepared and is suffering agonizing pain; she is reaping what she sowed.

The fly drone then flapped its wings and flew back, returning to space shortly afterward.

Lin Yajun witnessed all of this through the video, and her face was full of amazement.

"That's incredibly fast!" she exclaimed. "This fly drone can complete its mission with such precision; it's truly a symbol of high technology!"

Lin Yajun laughed happily, "Old witch, you brought this on yourself. Savor the taste of your own poison."

Having finished this task, Lin Yajun's gaze fell on the stone table. She selected two hidden weapons and put them into her bosom. With a flash, she emerged from the spatial dimension.

She stood up, straightened her clothes, strode out of the washroom, came to the basin, and carefully washed her hands. Qiaoqing stepped forward to serve her.

Lin Yajun smiled slightly and said softly to Qiaoqing, "You don't need to come with me. You and your mother can stay at home and sew some underwear and embroidered shoes for me. I'm just going to the market to take care of some business and will be back soon."

She asked the mother and daughter to help make clothes and shoes in her spare time because she actually needed these items, and also to subtly provide them with some financial assistance.

For this mother and daughter, who were not well-off, every extra bit of income was especially important.

Lin Yajun offered very generous rewards. For making her a piece of underwear, the mother and daughter would receive five copper coins; and for completing a pair of embroidered shoes, they would receive a full ten copper coins. Such prices were more than enough to buy ready-made items from a shop.

Faced with such tempting conditions, Qiaoqing and her mother naturally agreed with pleasure.

Granny Feng went to Madam Xu's place to get the fabric and thread, and then devoted herself to the handicraft.

These days, whenever Qiaoqing and her mother weren't serving their young mistress, they devoted all their attention to these clothes and shoes. With delicate needlework and exquisite embroidery, they handled every detail perfectly, striving for perfection.

If the stitches weren't neat or the flowers weren't embroidered to their satisfaction, they would immediately take it apart and start over, ignoring Lin Yajun's advice, "You don't need to take it apart and redo it, it'll wear out eventually anyway."

After hearing her mistress's words, Qiaoqing respectfully replied, "Yes, mistress." She took a cloth and gently dried Lin Yajun's hands, then applied a layer of balm to make Lin Yajun's hands even more moisturized and smooth.

After tidying up, Lin Yajun walked towards the front yard, where she immediately saw Zhao Canchen and Lin Songhao waiting quietly. A sweet smile appeared on her lips as she waved to them and said, "Let's go."

Lin Daoyan stood aside and instructed, "Xiao Jun, Xiao Hao, you must take good care of Young Master Zhao while you are away from home."

Lin Yajun and Lin Songhao answered in unison, "Yes, Father."

Since the last time the assassin came and was injured by his daughter and son working together, Lin Daoyan felt more at ease entrusting Zhao Canchen to Lin Yajun and Lin Songhao for protection.

He knew that his daughter was clever and cunning, and that she had hidden weapons in her arms, which would allow her to strike first. His son would then attack with a sword. If the assassin failed to kill Zhao Canchen in one move, he would panic and try to escape in front of everyone.

Just as they were about to set off, Lin Songhao suddenly seemed to remember something important and shouted, "Oh no, I haven't brought my hidden weapons yet!" With that, he turned around and ran into the house like the wind.

Seeing this, Lin Yajun couldn't help but scold, "Hao-di, when are you going to get rid of this forgetful habit?"

Lin Songhao responded from inside the house, "Sister, I'll change it right away!" His voice carried a hint of apology.

Zhao Canchen advised, "He's still young; he'll become more mature as he grows up."

Lin Yajun nodded in agreement, "That's right."

Lin Yajun and Zhao Canchen stood in the courtyard waiting.

Zhao Canchen hesitated for a moment, seemingly choosing his words carefully, and then he said softly to Lin Yajun, "When we're out, you should act respectfully towards me, because..." He paused abruptly, as if he found it difficult to say.

Lin Yajun was incredibly intelligent and immediately understood Zhao Canchen's implication.

She knew that if they showed the slightest disrespect to Zhao Canchen, it might invite the mastermind behind the scenes to harm them.

Zhao Canchen's reminder was entirely for Lin Yajun's safety.

Lin Yajun smiled and quickly replied, "I know, we have always respected you." As she spoke, she gave a curtsy to show her sincerity.

Zhao Canchen smiled and nodded, then gestured for Lin Yajun to stand up.

His mood seemed to brighten because of Lin Yajun's intelligence; a faint smile appeared on his lips.

Zhao Canchen's smile was captivating. His eyes were slightly narrowed, like two crescent moons, and the curve of his lips was just right, revealing a set of white teeth. He also had two shallow dimples on his face, making him look both gentle and approachable.

Lin Songhao ran over with a hidden weapon in his hand. When he saw Zhao Canchen's smile, he couldn't help but blurt out, "Young Master Zhao has a really handsome smile." As soon as he said it, he felt a little awkward and touched his head embarrassedly.

I felt that Zhao Canchen's smile was indeed very comforting, and seeing his smile could improve one's mood.
