Ren Dahu stared intently at Lin Yajun, his eyes filled with suspicion and distrust, as if trying to see through her appearance to her true intentions.
He wondered to himself, what exactly did this woman want? Was what she was saying really that simple?
Ren Dahu became increasingly convinced that things weren't so simple, and his curiosity was thoroughly piqued. So, he unconsciously lowered his voice and said to Lin Yajun, "You dare threaten me to my face? Aren't you afraid I'll silence you?"
Upon hearing Ren Dahu's words, Lin Yajun's lips curled up slightly. She raised an eyebrow, lowered her voice, and retorted provocatively, "You're welcome to try. If you dare to lay a hand on me, I'll kill you and wipe out the entire Ren family!"
"You wicked woman!" Ren Dahu was so enraged by Lin Yajun's words that he was practically spitting fire. His teeth were grinding, his hands were clenched into fists, and his anger was about to burst forth. He wished he could rush up and get rid of this arrogant woman, Lin Yajun.
Seeing this, Zhao Canchen quickly stepped forward and stood in front of Lin Yajun, blocking Ren Dahu's view. He tightly grasped Lin Yajun's sleeve and whispered, "Let's go, don't bother with this kind of person."
After walking a few steps, Zhao Canchen pressed on, "What did you say to that guy surnamed Ren that made him want to kill you?"
Lin Yajun hesitated for a moment, but decided to tell Zhao Canchen the truth.
“I told him that Lin Jinghui was someone he instructed his subordinates to do.”
She lowered her voice again and whispered, "I just casually tried to bluff him, but his reaction made me think that he was very likely the one who did it."
After hearing this, Zhao Canchen said with great concern, "You are too bold. What if he really did it? Wouldn't he poison you and kill you to cover it up?"
"No way." Lin Yajun waved her hand casually, then said confidently, "Isn't it you who's here? I'm by your side every day, how could he possibly have a chance to harm me?"
Zhao Canchen was stunned when he heard this. He originally wanted to say that he was also in a precarious situation, but he swallowed the words back.
He hesitated for a moment, then changed the subject and asked, "What exactly do you want to sell in this shop? And why do you want Ren Chuanhu to keep an eye on things for you?"
"Just sell whatever you like," Lin Yajun replied casually, then couldn't help but laugh.
Zhao Canchen looked at her with a surprised expression, puzzled: Can you make money by selling anything in business?
He couldn't help but re-examine the young woman in front of him, finding her ideas always so peculiar and her behavior different from ordinary people. This made him feel that she was quirky and unpredictable.
Lin Yajun noticed that her younger brother had walked to a shop displaying all sorts of weapons. He picked up a small dagger and examined it carefully.
Seeing Zhao Canchen looking at her with astonishment, Lin Yajun lowered her voice and told him the truth: "Actually, someone secretly put a bag of gold nuggets in my room last night. I originally intended to take these gold nuggets out for my family's use, but I can't just take out so much money for no reason, can I?"
"I want to use the silver notes you gave me to buy a shop, and then sell some things there, so that I have a reasonable excuse."
Zhao Canchen was even more surprised. He murmured, "Such a good thing? Someone is giving you gold bars, who could it be?"
He couldn't understand it at all. The Lin family were just military households, and even the gatekeepers were just lowly soldiers. They had recently been bullied to the point that their shop had been taken away. Who would send them a bag of gold nuggets?
Lin Yajun winked at him, indicating that it was related to him.
Zhao Canchen seemed to understand something. Perhaps it was the person who had been silently protecting him who gave Lin Yajun a bag of gold bars because he thought she was nice to him?
He sighed deeply, thinking to himself, "Someone tried to kill me, and someone else saved me. Who are they?"
Seeing Zhao Canchen's distressed expression, Lin Yajun quickly lowered her voice and reminded him, "Please don't be upset, otherwise people will think I made you angry if they see you like this. Then, someone might come to get rid of me tonight!"
Upon hearing this, Zhao Canchen immediately realized that his emotions might cause trouble for Lin Yajun, so he quickly suppressed his displeasure, put on a smile, and said softly, "Don't worry, I won't let you be in danger. The bustling market is just ahead. If we can buy a shop here, we can definitely make a lot of money."
Upon hearing this, Lin Yajun laughed and replied, "Then let's go take a look and try our luck."
“Okay.” Zhao Canchen nodded quickly, and the two walked together toward the bustling city.
As they walked, Zhao Canchen leaned closer to Lin Yajun and whispered to her, "Xiaojun, you've always been clever and quick-witted. Do you have any good ideas to help me find out who wants to kill me and who is secretly saving me?"
Lin Yajun muttered softly, "Isn't this obvious? It's clear that the Emperor wants to get rid of you, while Prince Song is secretly saving your life."
Zhao Canchen's ears were exceptionally sharp, and he heard every word Lin Yajun said.
He quickly said, "This is just a guess, and I don't want to draw conclusions based on mere speculation. I must find out the truth of the matter."
Lin Yajun chimed in softly, "I also want to know the truth." Her voice revealed her curiosity.
Zhao Canchen paused for a moment, then said resolutely, "In that case, let's investigate together and get to the bottom of this!"
Lin Yajun readily agreed, "No problem!"
Ever since Zhao Canchen deliberately provoked Ren Chuanhe to publicly insult him in order to save her, thereby eliminating Ren Chuanhe through others and resolving Lin Yajun's predicament of having to marry into the Ren family, Lin Yajun has regarded Zhao Canchen as a friend.
When a friend is in trouble and offers help, Lin Yajun has no reason not to.
Seeing that Lin Yajun agreed without any hesitation, Zhao Canchen couldn't wait and asked in a low voice, "What should we do?"
Lin Yajun gently comforted him, "No rush, let's go back and think about it."
"Okay," Zhao Canchen readily agreed.
When Lin Songhao heard the shopkeeper say that the dagger was priced at one tael of silver, he couldn't help but exclaim in surprise, "So expensive!" He muttered to himself as he reluctantly put the dagger back in its place, then jogged a few steps to catch up with his sister Lin Yajun, who was walking ahead of him.
Lin Songhao, panting, suggested to his sister, "Sister, I think we can sell weapons after we buy the shop! That way, we can use them whenever we want, and we can sell them when they get old. It's so convenient!" Their family was a military household, which allowed them to own and manufacture weapons for sale, but not powerful weapons like bows and arrows.
Upon hearing her brother's words, Lin Yajun glared at him and said in a low voice, "Aren't you just asking for trouble? Our family will be reported for selling weapons."
If their family dares to sell weapons, someone will definitely report them for plotting a rebellion.
