"Is there something you need, teacher?"
Xu Jingrun goes home every week for his days off, and apart from being a little quieter than usual, there's nothing unusual about him.
Xu Jingrun's teacher said, "He often stayed up late at night, reading by candlelight in the toilet."
"The male teachers on night shift were so scared that they didn't dare to go to the toilet."
"If he were reading books related to studying, that would be fine, but he's reading all sorts of things..."
The teacher lowered his voice, afraid that others in the office would hear, "He only reads books on feudal superstition."
"Luckily, I was the one who discovered it. If other people with ulterior motives had found out, what would have become of this child?"
Teacher Zhang harbored some resentment towards Xu Jingrun's parents, wondering how they could allow their child to come into contact with these books.
These parents are incredibly careless.
Even if you're busy with work, you shouldn't be so indifferent to your child's school life.
Thinking this way, Teacher Zhang looked at Chen Yunyun with a hint of reproach.
“Jingrun’s mom, Xu Jingrun is really a promising student. You parents must not ruin his future.”
Teacher Zhang was afraid that Chen Yunyun wouldn't care about Xu Jingrun, so she repeatedly reminded her.
Chen Yunyun was left speechless and felt extremely uncomfortable after being scolded.
Chen Yunyun was only rescued when Xu Jingrun, who had finished class, came to the office and knocked on the door.
It was just lunchtime, and Chen Yunyun told the teacher and took a few children out to eat.
A few hundred meters west of the primary school is the state-run restaurant.
After ordering the food, Chen Yunyun called Xu Jingrun out separately.
"Don't you have anything to say to me?"
The boy kept his head down, not daring to look Chen Yunyun in the eye. His hair was very short and stiff, as if anyone who got too close would be pricked.
Two cowlicks on the top of her head indicate a stubborn temperament.
"Mother, I was wrong."
The boy's voice was muffled and hoarse. Chen Yunyun felt a little sorry for him. This child had always been very sensible, but he still lacked a sense of propriety in his actions.
"It's good that you like it, but you can't watch these things at school, right?"
Xu Jingrun nodded.
"From now on, focus on your studies. You can read those books when you're older, okay?"
Xu Jingrun's fingers curled silently at his sides. He darkened his eyes and nodded in agreement.
This was the first time he had lied to his mother.
He had a premonition that if he didn't take his mother's affairs seriously, he would regret it immensely.
So he couldn't possibly not read it; he wanted to find out from the book why his mother's luck had turned bad.
He had to become stronger, so that his mother wouldn't get hurt, and even more importantly, he wouldn't let her leave him...
Chen Yunyun thought that the child really took her words to heart, so she didn't criticize him too much.
After the family finished their meal together in harmony and Chen Yunyun dropped the children off at school, she left.
As soon as Chen Yunyun left, Xu Jingrun slipped out of the school.
Classes didn't start until 2:30 PM, giving him ample time to browse for books. The county's scrap yard was located in a few rows of low-rise farmhouses in the western part of the county.
Xu Jingrun had been here several times before, so he went in familiarly and greeted the old man at the door.
The old man had accepted his bribes and was very hospitable to him.
They led him to an inconspicuous corner and said, "The books are all here. Choose the ones you need, and I'll burn them after you've made your selection."
There were more books this time than last time, but he could only use a few. He picked out a few, wrapped them in his arms, and hurried back to school.
Elementary schools in the county dismiss students at 5:30 p.m.
The students living on campus were eating, washing clothes, and many were playing in the open space.
Xu Jingrun hid in his dormitory alone and eagerly began to read the new books he had bought at noon.
Most of the contents were about Qimen Dunjia, Bagua, Feng Shui, and geography. Xu Jingrun glanced at it briefly and put it aside until he found a yellowed and faded booklet.
The book is called "Summoning the Soul".
Turning to the title page, the book's purpose is clearly stated.
It contained many methods for summoning spirits, one of which caught Xu Jingrun's attention.
Following the instructions in the book, he cut his wrists, squatted in the corner and silently recited the incantation to summon his soul. He recited it three times and suddenly felt a chill all over his body.
He opened his eyes, and it was done.
He summoned a vengeful ghost. The blood dripped onto the dormitory floor, quickly soaking the ground, making it sticky and emitting a nauseating stench.
The vengeful ghost saw that the one who summoned it was actually a child, and seeing that the child was in good health, it began to plot to possess him.
But Xu Jingrun was no ordinary child.
He carried talismans left by the Great Ancestor, which he studied for a whole year, and he knew all the incantations on them by heart.
Occasionally using Swiftness Talismans or Misfortune Talismans, such minor spells are no longer enough for him.
The talisman had many powerful exorcism and warding-off-evil spells on it, but he had never had a chance to use them. Now, it was just in time for a punching bag to arrive.
Just as the vengeful ghost was about to scare Xu Jingrun into unconsciousness, it was discovered that the boy's eyes were shining and his lips were moving slightly, as if he were chanting a spell.
As the little boy moved, the vengeful ghost realized something was wrong!
Why did this child give him a sense of danger?!
He instinctively tried to run, but he couldn't escape.
The snarling, vengeful ghost was gripped by Xu Jingrun's hand, and a talisman emitting golden light floated three inches in front of it.
"Spare...spare the brat's life!"
The vengeful ghost trembled with fear, like a pitiful little chick that had been drowned.
The boy's voice was clear and strong, "If you can answer my question, I'll let you go."
The vengeful ghost nodded vigorously, afraid that Xu Jingrun would change his mind.
"Some people have great luck, but suddenly their luck turns terrible, extremely terrible. What could be the reason for this?"
The vengeful ghost rolled its stiff eyes and tentatively replied, "Is it because there's a ghost around you affecting your luck?"
"wrong."
With Mother's strength, how could she possibly be bothered by a little devil? Even if she were, Rong Yan is no pushover.
Even Rong Yan couldn't see the problem with his mother, so the reason must not be so simple.
"Then, there is another possibility."
"That means you did something immoral and were punished for it."
"This is something that Heaven wants to punish; there's nothing we can do about it."
