Xu Zhijun had a dream. In the dream, everything was white, and a masked woman was interrogating him about something.
Although he had received relevant training in the team, he seemed to lose control in his dream and said everything.
Upon waking up and realizing it was a dream, Xu Zhijun breathed a sigh of relief.
"The alarm hasn't rung yet, go back to sleep a little longer."
An arm reached out from her side, and the bedside was filled with a sweet fragrance.
Xu Zhijun squeezed Jiang Xinyi's hand, turned over and got out of bed, "You sleep a little longer, I'm leaving now."
Xu Zhijun came out of Jiang Xinyi's room; it was still dark outside. He had left the family dormitory early that morning and gone to his office; he had a meeting that morning.
The meeting ended about an hour and a half later.
The instructor kept Xu Zhijun aside to say a few words: "I heard your child came to visit yesterday? After the meeting, go back and spend more time with your child; you only see them a few times a year."
Xu Zhijun agreed, but suddenly a young man beside him spoke up for him, "Instructor Zhang, please save Battalion Commander Xu!"
"Xiao He! What nonsense are you spouting!" Xu Zhijun said sternly, "Go run ten laps!"
The soldier called Xiao He obediently saluted and accepted the punishment, glancing at Instructor Zhang before leaving.
"Hey—come back."
Instructor Zhang adjusted his glasses. "What's going on? It sounds like there's more to this than meets the eye."
He turned and glared at Xu Zhijun, "Why are you punishing him? Listen to what he has to say first."
Xu Zhijun had no choice but to agree. He lowered his head, and everything was developing in the direction he had planned.
Xiao He returned again. "Instructor Zhang, some of Battalion Commander Xu's family members who came yesterday have embezzled funds meant for the wounded."
Did they touch the injured soldiers' compensation money? That's a big deal.
Instructor Zhang said seriously, "Tell me in detail."
Xiao He glanced at Xu Zhijun and said, "Battalion Commander Xu, don't cover for her either. Don't try to shoulder everything yourself."
"The wife of Battalion Commander Xu, the one who came yesterday, stole the pension money that Battalion Commander Xu kept at home."
"It was originally kept in the office, but Battalion Commander Xu was injured recently, so the money was sent directly to Battalion Commander Xu."
"As a result, Battalion Commander Xu disappeared after returning yesterday. The compensation money distributed to the wounded this morning was all paid for by Battalion Commander Xu himself."
After listening, Instructor Zhang pondered for a moment and said, "This is a big deal. Has it been investigated thoroughly?"
Xiao He nodded.
Instructor Zhang then looked at Xu Zhijun, "Zhijun, what do you have to say?"
Xu Zhijun lowered his head, remained silent, and tacitly agreed.
"Tsk, this is a bit tricky." Instructor Zhang asked as if he had just remembered something, "I remember your wife from your hometown, didn't she pass away? I've never heard of you having a wife."
Xu Zhijun lowered his head even further and remained silent.
"Zhijun, just say what you have to say. What are you afraid of in front of me?"
Xu Zhijun gritted his teeth, seemingly having thought about it for a long time before making up his mind, "Instructor, my family really hasn't arranged for me to get married."
The soldier named Xiao He and Instructor Zhang were both taken aback. "Then who was the one who said he stole money?"
“She’s a distant relative. I haven’t been home, and she’s always been the one taking care of my child.”
“Logically I should be grateful to her, but yesterday the children told me that the woman took the money I sent her, but often didn’t let my children eat, and they were just kept alive by drinking some sweet potato soup.”
"They also threatened the children not to say anything bad about them, or they would beat them to death."
"The children didn't dare to say anything. I only managed to get the information out of them last night after I sent that woman away."
Xu Zhijun had always been an honest and hardworking person in the team, so when he said this, Instructor Zhang believed him to a large extent.
"There are actually people like this! Bring her here, and I'll stand up for you!"
Xiao He ran very fast to deliver the message.
Xu Zhijun chuckled to himself; things were going according to plan, and the next step was the confrontation.
It doesn't matter if Chen Yunyun doesn't admit it; he has plenty of "witnesses and physical evidence."
Five minutes later, Chen Yunyun arrived with her child, and her family was standing with her.
When Instructor Zhang saw Mo Jianguo, he saluted and said, "Commander Mo, you've come too."
Mo Jianguo walked behind Chen Yunyun and nodded, "You guys continue."
Upon seeing Mo Jianguo appear, Xu Zhijun frowned. Why was he here?
Moving the gaze forward, Mo Jianguo's younger sister, Mo Xuanxuan, was affectionately holding Chen Yunyun's hand, appearing to be protecting her.
Something's not right!
Xu Zhijun's eyelids twitched violently; he sensed something was wrong. His sixth sense told him to stop everything immediately, but it was too late...
