Chapter 192 Strength in Numbers

Chen Jianguo returned to the house and put the beef jerky and salted duck eggs into the drawer. If a few people saw them, he would have nothing left.

Then he cut open the pig's head and put it in a stainless steel basin and started mixing it.

When I saw the stainless steel basin, I remembered that my wife had forgotten to take it back.

When Erzhu and the other two came in, Chen Jianguo's room was filled with the aroma of braised meat.

Erzhu sniffed and said happily, "Captain, this smells so good. I've never smelled anything so good before."

Chen Jianguo said, "Are you going to eat or not? Sit down quickly. We have to go to the countryside soon after dinner."

Erzhu and the others quickly sat down and waited for Chen Jianguo to pick up a pair of chopsticks before they started eating.

After tasting the meat, they all had the same expression on their faces and their eyes sparkled.

They all praised, "Well, Captain, this is so delicious, sister-in-law's cooking skills are so good! Captain, you will enjoy a good life in the future."

When Chen Jianguo heard what they said, the corners of his mouth couldn't help but rise slightly with satisfaction.

She quite liked what this boy said.

By the time he reacted, Erzhu and the others were about to fight over a bite of food.

Erzhu hummed and said, "Slow down, what's the captain going to eat after you've grabbed it? Leave some for me!"

When Chen Jianguo heard what he said, he immediately said, "Eat you!"

He had already eaten a large bowl of beef, so when he saw the pig's head, he didn't want to eat it much.

Under the big banyan tree in Chenjia Village, Wang Pozi, Chen Pozi and other old ladies were gossiping.

When they saw Jiang Baige coming back, they all greeted her.

Now that Jiang Baige is the fiancée of the village chief's son, the villagers are naturally very polite to her.

Mrs. Wang asked, "Jiang Zhiqing, you're back?"

Seeing that her ox cart was full of wood and planks, he asked curiously.

"What are you buying? Why so much?"

Jiang Baige smiled at them and answered politely.

"Here! I bought a bed and a cabinet. You guys can chat first. I'm going back first."

Old ladies just love to ask questions. Since I have seen it all, I can only tell them the truth to avoid them asking more questions out of curiosity.

After she left, the old ladies looked at each other and when they saw that no one mentioned the educated youth, they returned to the topic they had just been discussing.

Jiang Baige stopped the ox cart at the gate. Hearing the sound at the door, Siyan immediately ran out of the doghouse and started howling.

He recognized the clattering sound of hooves as that of the old cow.

Jiang Baige built a doghouse for Siyan in the corner of the courtyard wall. It was made of old wooden boards and was a miniature version of a small house. After the house was repaired, Jiang Baige tied him up here when she was not at home.

Jiang Baige got off the ox cart and opened the door.

When Siyan saw that it was his master coming back, he whined and tried to break free from the restraints and go find his master.

Jiang Baige called Siyan's name, then walked to the doghouse, squatted down and untied his rope.

While she was untying the rope, Siyan licked her hand happily.

Jiang Baige patted Siyan's head and said, "Okay, go play! Go see if Sister Jiaojiao is home."

When Siyan heard that he could go out and play, he twisted his body like a maggot, whined, and then ran out.

He had been smelling the fragrance from the next door all morning. If he went over now, there should still be something to eat.

Seeing how cute he was, Jiang Baige chuckled and shook her head.

There was no one at home. Jiang Baige thought everyone must have gone next door to have lunch.

She looked inside the house and found it was clean and tidy, with some furniture already moved in.

She wasn't hungry yet, so she rolled up her sleeves and started working.

She went out again and slowly took down the wood and planks from the ox cart and put them aside.

She was not in a hurry to move things into the house because there were too many of them and she would have to move them all by herself and then assemble them.

She doesn't have the skills to do this, and if she doesn't have the necessary skills, she won't take on this job.

Zhou Xiuying and her friends had been working for the whole morning and had just sat down to eat when they saw Siyan running over and asking the girl who was eating nearby.

"Jiaojiao, didn't your sister tie up Siyan? How did he get out?"

Chen Jiaojiao was also puzzled. Could it be that he ran away?

Seeing Siyan clinging to a stool, he said to his superior, "How did you get out? Be good! We can only give you food after we have eaten."

Siyan is still very discerning. He won’t ask for food even if there is no food.

The owner said that if he picked up something dirty from the ground and ate it, he would beat him, so he would not eat anything from the ground.

He obediently lay down next to Grandma Meng, waiting for them to finish their meal before feeding him.

He still knew clearly that this old lady was his family.

Siyan's mouth was drooling, and he couldn't help but look at Sister Jiaojiao, waiting for her to give him food.

I have to stay with my old lady at home. My eyes keep wandering around. The smell on the table is so attractive to dogs.

He also had to divert his attention to look outside. He had been here for a while, why hadn't the owner come yet?

After Jiang Baige moved the furniture down, she returned the ox cart to the cowshed.

Zhou Xiuying and her friends helped a lot today. When she came back, she didn't go back to the house to work, but went next door with a huge watermelon in her arms.

If so many people want to eat to their heart's content, they have to have watermelon. A watermelon this big can be divided into two or three pieces per person.

Jiang Baige walked into the Chen family's yard and heard that the house was quite lively and there was the sound of dishes and chopsticks colliding. She knew without asking that everyone was eating.

Jiang Baige walked into the kitchen holding a watermelon. There was a table full of people eating.

Seeing her come back, everyone greeted her.

"Jiang Zhiqing! You're back."

Jiang Baige smiled at them and said, "Auntie, you have worked hard."

Chen Jiaojiao quickly took her bowl and gave up her seat.

"Sister, come and sit here."

She had finished her meal, and she took a few bites of rice while walking, then put down the bowl.

While everyone was eating, their eyes were on the watermelon in her arms, wondering what it was.

Zhou Xiuying had already brought the dishes and chopsticks to her. When she put them on the table, she took the watermelon from her arms.

They had eaten it several times. The daughter-in-law went to town today, and she thought it was just bought, so she didn't ask.

Jiang Baige said, "Auntie, after dinner, cut some watermelon for everyone to try."

Zhou Xiuying smiled and said, "Hey, you must be hungry too! Come and eat."

Sun Zhaodi looked at the big watermelon in Zhou Xiuying's arms and asked Jiang Baige beside her in shock.

"Jiang Zhiqing, is this a watermelon?"

Jiang Baige took a bite of her meal before replying, "Well, I was lucky today. I came across someone selling watermelons, so I wanted to buy some for everyone to try."

Sun Zhaodi said happily, "I haven't eaten it yet! I must try it later."
