Chapter 21 Hospitalization

The person outside was knocking on the door. Hearing her knocking and shouting, I knew she must be in a hurry.

Jiang Baige also took her bag and quickly opened the door to go out.

The woman outside the toilet door was about to raise her hand to knock on the door when she saw it open.

Seeing that it was a little girl, the woman became a little angry and said unhappily, "I've been knocking on the door for a long time, can't you hear me? You're so quiet inside, why don't you at least answer me?"

As he spoke, he glared at Jiang Baige angrily.

There are only two toilets in this hospital. The men's toilet has no door. No matter how urgent the situation is, women will not go there.

The only room was locked from the inside, so it's no wonder that people were angry.

Jiang Baige was very embarrassed by her stare, and came out of the toilet with her bag, "Comrade, go ahead!"

The woman went in angrily and muttered something, slamming the toilet door shut, which scared Jiang Baige.

Jiang Baige looked at the closed door and wanted to apologize to her, but now she saw that this woman was so rude.

I thought to myself, "This woman is really rude. If I had known she would be like this, I would have come out later and kept her anxious to death."

"She also snorted softly and went back to the ward with her bag.

When Jiang Baige returned to the ward, the nurse had already put a plaster cast on Grandma Meng's arm and hung it around her neck.

Jiang Baige was a little confused. "The doctor didn't seem to say I needed a cast! Did the doctor come back just now?"

The nurse saw her come back and said while packing her things:

"The doctor was worried about the old lady's arm, as it was dislocated after all, so he put it in a plaster cast for a month. It's healed now."

Jiang Baige nodded, "Thank you!"

The nurse continued, "Why did you, a family member, come back just now? You left the patient alone in the ward. If anything happened, they wouldn't be able to find you."

"You came just in time. The old lady said she wanted to go to the toilet. Please help her go!"

After saying that, the nurse left.

Jiang Baige quickly put down what she was holding, went to help Grandma Meng up, and said softly, "Grandma Meng, please take your time getting up."

Grandma Meng moved very slowly. When she got out of bed, she pulled something and hissed in pain.

Hearing that she was in pain, Jiang Baige asked, "Grandma Meng, you still hurt? I'll call a doctor to take a look."

Grandma Meng said unhappily, "My whole body aches, but the doctor said I'm fine."

She looked unhappy and said, "I said he is a quack. You are making a fuss out of nothing. Doctor Wang in our village is so good. Why do you come here and spend this money?"

Jiang Baige, "Uh," I don't know what to say?

Thinking about Grandma Meng falling from such a height, let alone an elderly person, even a young person would definitely be in pain.

Maybe if I take a day off, everything will be fine tomorrow.

After Grandma Meng lay back on the hospital bed, Jiang Baige took out the thermos and lunch box from the bag and placed them on the table one by one.

The clanging sound of the reset button caught Grandma Meng's attention.

Grandma Meng asked, "What are you doing? Have you brought back the food?"

Jiang Baige replied, "We came in a hurry and didn't bring anything. I went out to buy some things we'll need for the next two days."

Grandma Meng asked distressedly, "How much will this cost? We can just make do with it and go back in a couple of days, right?"

Jiang Baige smiled and said, "It won't cost much. As long as you are healthy, it's worth any amount of money."

Hearing her words, Grandma Meng forced a smile.

Grandma Meng thought to herself, "I'm not trying to be unreasonable. I've just met too many people with ulterior motives and I don't believe there are any good people in this world."

He sighed, "Just buy it! You can't return it, so don't waste money in the future."

“Hmm~~~~”

Jiang Baige nodded, "I understand."

"Grandma Meng, please wait a moment. I'll go get some food now."

Grandma Meng sighed, "Go!"

Hearing Grandma Meng sigh, Jiang Baige didn't ask what happened, but took her lunch box to the cafeteria to get food.

Jiang Baige got two boxes of porridge from the cafeteria and each of them took two steamed buns.

When you come back, take out the pickles and salted duck eggs from your bag.

These things are common, so even if someone comes and sees them now, it's understandable.

She opened the pickles and peeled the salted duck eggs and put them in the lunch box.

When she was ready, she said, "Grandma Meng, I'll feed you."

Grandma Meng said, "I still have one hand that can move. Just find a place to put it and tell me where it is."

The hospital beds these days are still old-fashioned iron-frame beds, and there is no table for patients to eat at. There is only a bedside table as high as a table next to the bed.

Jiang Baige was worried that Grandma Meng’s eyesight was not good, so it would be inconvenient no matter where she put it.

Jiang Baige insisted, "Let me feed you. This is not convenient either. Don't let the hospital blanket get dirty."

Grandma Meng thought, the things in this hospital are so valuable! What if they get soiled by someone else and she asks them to pay for it?

Nodding, "Then listen to you."

Jiang Baige fed a mouthful of porridge to Grandma Meng's mouth, just like feeding a child.

"Grandma Meng, open your mouth, ah!" There was a salted duck egg in a spoonful of porridge.

Grandma Meng tasted it right away and asked, "Is this a salted duck egg? Where did it come from?"

Jiang Baige laughed and said, "You can taste this, Grandma Meng, you have a good sense of taste!"

Grandma Meng said, "These eggs are so expensive! Drinking porridge is enough."

Jiang Baige smiled and said, "It doesn't cost much. The most important thing about eating is to eat your fill."

"Come, take a bite of the yolk of this salted duck egg. It looks so oily. How does it taste?"

As he said this, he scooped a spoonful of porridge and salted duck eggs into Grandma Meng's mouth.

He said anxiously, "Grandma Meng, hurry up, the oil is about to drip."

Grandma Meng quickly opened her mouth to catch it, and the two of them fed it to each other, just like a real grandparents and grandchildren.

Jiang Baige asked, "Grandma Meng, how do these salted duck eggs taste?"

Hearing the little girl's question, Grandma Meng finally smiled sincerely, "I only ate it when I was a young lady, but I have never forgotten the taste."

As she spoke, Grandma Meng seemed to be reminiscing about something. After a while, she said, "It's delicious, but a little salty."

Jiang Baige fed him another spoonful of porridge, "This is not something you can just eat for fun, it's perfect with porridge."

"Come, have another bite of pickles."

While feeding Grandma Meng, she also started eating.

The porridge with pickles was bland and she really wanted to eat meat.

It’s not that Jiang Baige doesn’t want to take cooked food from the space, but mainly because those things are not available in the hospital.

I thought I'd keep dinner simple, find an excuse to go out tomorrow, and bring some delicious food when I come back.

After Grandma Meng had eaten her fill, she lay down to sleep.

There are two beds in this ward, and there is only one patient. With this bed, Jiang Baige can have a good sleep tonight.
