When Jiang's father came home, Jiang's mother called for dinner.
The family finally sat together, happily having a reunion dinner.
Because Jiang's father has been traveling a lot recently and encountered a lot of interesting things, during dinner, he told his family a lot of the interesting things he encountered to make them happy.
The mother and her two children listened with great interest and laughed from time to time.
After dinner, Jiang Baige chatted with her mother in the living room. There was a news report playing on the radio that her father had brought back from somewhere.
She thought that things like televisions were not easy to sell nowadays, and if she could buy one, she would definitely buy one for her home.
Jiang Baiyang came downstairs holding a book. His sister is a high school student, so if he has any problems, he can go to her and solve them.
Seeing her brother sitting next to her, the book in his hand was old, and she guessed that he must have borrowed it from a classmate.
Jiang Baiyang's academic performance was pretty good before. If he reads more and studies more now, by the time school starts next year, his grades shouldn't be much behind other students.
Looking back on his past memories, half of his father's salary would be taken away by the Jiang family's old house every month. They would find all kinds of excuses to ask for it. Their family of four had a hard time and could not even fill their stomachs, so how could they have money to send their brothers and sisters to school?
All in all, Jiang Baiyang hasn't been to school for three years.
Looking at his younger brother who loves studying so much, he can only borrow books from outside. What will he do if others don’t give them to him?
She has a small library in her own space. She has to wait until no one is at home and take out the books. No matter what the book is, learning comes first.
Watching Jiang Baiyang reading, she asked, "Baiyang, you need to return this book, right?"
Jiang Baiyang nodded, "Okay, I'll give it back to him tomorrow after I've looked at it."
Jiang's father said, "I'll take you to the flea market tomorrow. If you see any textbooks, buy them. If you borrow others' every day, they'll be unhappy."
When Jiang Baiyang heard that his father was going to take him to the flea market to buy books, he nodded happily.
"Great! I've heard from others that there are so many books there, whatever you want."
Jiang's mother said, "If you're going, bring some extra money with you. Buy whatever you like."
Books nowadays cost only a few cents per pound, and buying a bag of them won’t cost more than a few dollars.
The next morning, Jiang's mother went out to work on time. She tried to keep her footsteps as low as possible for fear of disturbing her daughter's sleep upstairs.
Jiang Baige gets up early when she is in school. Now she has formed a biological clock and wakes up at dawn.
She got up and went downstairs to go to the bathroom. As soon as she reached the corner of the stairs, she saw a dark shadow. When she looked closely, it turned out to be her mother.
He asked, "Mom, it's so cold this morning, why are you getting up so early?"
Jiang's mother froze and hurriedly spoke after hearing her daughter's words.
"I can't sleep, go out for a walk, Nannan, why did you get up?"
Jiang Baige turned on the light in the stairwell and looked at her mother wearing a thick cotton coat and a hat on her head. She wondered where she was going so early in the morning.
I couldn't help but ask, "Mom, are you going somewhere far away dressed like this?"
Jiang's mother chuckled and then said, "I found a short-term job. I'm going to work now and will be back at dawn."
Jiang Baige looked at her mother, feeling a little confused. She wondered why she had never heard that her mother had found a job, and she had never mentioned it in front of her.
I feel like there's something wrong. If it were a good job, how could I not tell myself?
He asked, "Mom, what kind of work do you do that requires you to leave so early?"
When Jiang's mother saw her daughter asking about it, she couldn't hide it anymore and told the truth.
"Mom found a job sweeping the streets. I've been doing it for almost a year now, but it's quite relaxing, really. I have a lot of free time. I can go home after sweeping the streets."
Jiang Baige suddenly felt that she was a failure as a daughter. She had never known that her mother had been sweeping the streets for almost a year.
She walked downstairs and stood in front of her mother.
"Mom, why didn't you tell me? I don't know anything."
Jiang's mother chuckled, "It's just a job. Someone has to work at home, right? Your father has bad legs and feet, and Bai Yang is young, so it's a good fit for me to go here. I can also take care of the family, which is great."
"Mom, I can make money to support you in the future. Can't you just rest at home?"
As Jiang Baige spoke, her eyes became red.
Jiang's mother looked at her daughter and laughed, "What nonsense are you talking about, child? You're married now, and you're still supporting your parents. Aren't you afraid of being laughed at?"
She reached out and touched her daughter's hair, tucked her messy hair behind her ears, and spoke gently.
"We have the life we have now, all thanks to you. I am already very satisfied."
Jiang Baige wanted to say something but was interrupted by her mother.
"Okay, dear girl, I have to go to work. What if I'm not there for the signing? My salary will be deducted."
After she finished speaking, she went downstairs immediately.
He turned around and said, "Go back to bed and lie down for a while. Your father will make breakfast."
Jiang Baige looked at her mother's back and responded.
"Well, mother, please go slower. I'm worried that the road will be slippery."
After saying that, she followed her downstairs and watched her mother leave, shaking her head helplessly.
This is how society is. It's good that her mother has a job now. If she didn't have a job and lived in such a big house, others would be envious and jealous, and might even report her to the higher authorities.
These days you can only live worse than others. If you live better, it will cause unnecessary trouble.
She went back and took a nap, and Jiang's father had already prepared breakfast.
