Chapter 73 Pig Farm

The pig farm in Chenjia Village is about one kilometer away from where the villagers live.

They can usually hear the squeals of pigs, so they have definitely never been here.

These pigs are the property of the village. People who are not pig farmers are not allowed to come here. If anything happens to the pigs, no one can take responsibility.

This is downwind, and I didn't smell anything along the way from the village.

The people who raise pigs here are the old men in the village. They work carefully and don't mind the dirt and smell.

From a distance, Zhang Yan saw two old ladies chopping pig grass. They had already chopped a large pile and had no intention of stopping.

Under the eaves on the side, there was a big stove, and two old ladies were making a fire and cooking pig food.

The pigs in the pigsty are squealing and screaming. They must be hungry and are clamoring for food.

Zhang Yan ran over happily, and as soon as she arrived, she smelled a foul odor going straight into her nose.

He raised his hands to cover his mouth and nose, and said unhappily: "What the hell is this! It's not what I imagined at all."

But she didn't dare go back now. The supervisor was too fierce today. She couldn't help but suspect that he was deliberately targeting her.

If I go back now, I may not be able to get today's work points. If all of them are deducted from her, wouldn't it be a big loss today?

When Old Lady Chen saw a little girl coming, she said to Old Lady Wang beside her, "Hey, look, what is this girl doing standing there? Does she like the smell of this place?"

Mrs. Wang was chopping grass for the pigs. She looked up and asked, "Little educated youth, what are you doing here?"

Zhang Yan's hands were still covering her mouth and nose as she whimpered, "I came here to feed the pigs with her and the others."

"What? Come closer and talk. I can't hear you."

The pigs in the pigsty were calling, but the old ladies' ears were blocked, so they couldn't hear Zhang Yan's kitten-like voice.

Zhang Yan walked over reluctantly and said, "I'm here to feed the pigs with you."

"oh!"

"Well," said Mrs. Wang, "go sweep up the pig manure, fetch two basins of water, and rinse the floor clean."

Zhang Yan didn't expect that she would have to sweep up pig manure as soon as she arrived.

Although she was a little reluctant, she still started to move. She had been working for a while this afternoon and she wanted to hold on a little longer. She thought that at worst she could wait until she got off work and then go to the village chief to talk to him about whether she could stop doing this in the future.

Zhang Yan cried all afternoon and was directed by several old ladies to clean the pigpen inside and out.

There are no young people here, and these old ladies finally meet a young and energetic person, but they still can't do anything to order him around.

Zhang Yan swept the floor and fed the pigs, working so hard that she couldn't even straighten her back.

Feeling unwilling, he cursed, "You old ladies, just wait, I will definitely not let you go."

The more Old Lady Chen looked at the young educated youth, the more she liked him.

After feeding the pigs, several old ladies were basking in the sun and talked about Chen Erlaizi's story. They all came with good intentions to remind him to walk the right path and get married as soon as possible.

Old Lady Chen said, "My son is doing fine! Just wait! I will definitely find him a good wife."

As she spoke, her eyes seemed to fall on Zhang Yan's butt. If this little girl were paired with her son, she would definitely give her a grandson next year.

The more I thought about it, the more it made sense. I started thinking about how to have a grandchild.

The pig feeders were only busy for a while, and when the pigs were all fed, everyone had nothing to do and went home.

Zhang Yan was exhausted and walked last.

Old Mrs. Chen walked halfway and then turned back to wait for the young educated youth on his way back to the compound.

When she saw Zhang Yan coming, she smiled and looked like a kind old lady.

Girl, why are you assigned to feed the pigs? It's so smelly! It's not suitable for a little girl like you.

Zhang Yan was already very angry, and she became even angrier after hearing what the old lady said.

I couldn't help but complain to her, "They all look down on me working and say I'm wasting food, so they make me feed the pigs."

Old Lady Chen looked distressed. "Oh! They are too much. Did you make them unhappy?"

Zhang Yan said, "How is that possible? I didn't provoke them. They don't like me. I don't know what's going on."

Old Mrs. Chen said distressedly, "Oh, how pitiful! Let's go to Auntie's house and have a seat. Feeding pigs has its advantages. I get off work early and no one cares."

Zhang Yan was quite satisfied with finishing work early. While others were still basking in the sun in the fields, she had already finished work. There was still plenty of time, and she even had time to go back to the compound and take a nap.

She was in a dilemma again. Feeding pigs was so smelly, should she continue doing it?

The old man and the young man returned to the village together. When Zhang Yan was about to leave, Old Lady Chen held her hand.

"Girl, come on, let's go home and sit for a while. I have some delicious food there. I'm an old woman and I can't even chew it, so I'll give you a taste."

The old lady was suddenly so nice to her, and Zhang Yan had no idea that she had other intentions. She thought she was just pretending to be well-behaved so that others liked her.

Without thinking, she smiled and nodded, "Auntie, I'll help you then."

She didn't even think about how many people could like her given her character.

Old Mrs. Chen opened the door and led Zhang Yan into the yard.

Her eldest son was a martyr, and every month her family would go to the workers' commune to collect subsidies. They would have enough food money and tickets, and she could buy a lot of meat every month that others couldn't.

The eldest daughter in her family would send money to her parents' home every ten days or half a month, so Old Lady Chen never lacked food and provisions.

Her yard is very big and is usually kept clean.

When Zhang Yan walked in, she saw that this family looked like a wealthy one, very grand and much better than the educated youth compound where they lived.

Old Mrs. Chen took the man to her own room, which was the cleanest and where all the good things in her family were kept.

As soon as Zhang Yan entered the room, she was pulled to sit on the bed. Old Mrs. Chen smiled and found all the good things she had left behind.

Peanuts, candies, melon seeds, malted milk, everything was served.

"Girl, sit down. I'll boil some hot water and make you some malted milk."

Zhang Yan looked at the things the old lady took out. She hadn't seen them for a long time. She smiled and said, "Auntie, you are so kind."

Old Lady Chen smiled and said, "You take a rest first. I'll go wash some bacon and cook it for you tonight."

"Meat, you want more meat?"

Zhang Yan asked in surprise.

Old Lady Chen nodded and said, "How about you come with me and take a look? If you want to eat that piece, I'll cook it for you."

You can't catch a wolf without sacrificing your child. Old Mrs. Chen is well aware of this.

Little girl? How many people don't have a greedy mouth?

Zhang Yan's mouth is already watering! Meat! She hasn't eaten it in half a year.

He said happily, "Okay! Okay!"

Old Mrs. Chen took her to the kitchen again and showed her family's financial situation. She refused to believe that she would not be tempted.

Zhang Yan was really tempted. She looked at the several pieces of meat hanging on the stove. How much would so much meat cost?
