159. Ditches and Bumps

It is obvious that the person Mao Tian wants to see is the deceased.

After leaving the interrogation room, Kang Ziqiang asked the detention center staff for a report.

The report stated that the deceased, named Wang Yue, was the head of a courier delivery point. When he was found, he had multiple stab wounds and died from excessive blood loss due to a severed femoral artery.

No third-party fingerprints were found at the scene, and the murder weapon only had fingerprints of the deceased and Mao Tian.

The surveillance camera at the door of the hotel box showed that Wang Yue entered the box alone ten minutes before Mao Tian arrived, and never came out since then.

Drug residues were also found in his blood test results, but neither report specified the drug content, as the levels of banned drugs were zero.

I looked at the time and it was almost five in the afternoon. If I acted quickly, I should be able to submit my bail application before the court closed.

This is a murder case and the defendant cannot be released on bail directly from the detention center. An application must be made to a judge.

After calling the court, Kang Ziqiang and Guan Ping took a taxi to the court. After waiting for more than half an hour, the judge finally arrived.

"Hello, judge! I request bail for Mao Tian." Kang Ziqiang handed over the application documents.

The judge, a woman in her fifties, quickly read the documents and then asked, "How do we ensure public safety? How do we ensure the suspect doesn't flee?"

"Before the trial, Mao Tian would stay in Mr. Guan Ping's dormitory at the research institute for 24 hours to ensure that he would not leave the house," said Kang Ziqiang.

"Judge! I object!" The prosecutor spoke up at this time. "Guan Ping is a foreigner. Who knows if he will send the suspect out of the country?"

"We can hand in his passport and cancel Mao Tian's civil aviation clearance rights!" Kang Ziqiang replied.

"Tsk! Don't say I don't know! Guan Ping and Lu Guansheng have an incredible relationship! They both have private planes and helicopters. If they want to leave the country, they don't even need a passport or civil aviation clearance!"

"We are talking about Mao Tian now, don't drag people who have nothing to do with the case into this!"

"Unless you ban these two people's flight applications, there's no way to guarantee that Mao Tian won't flee the country!"

"President Lu is an outsider. He is currently cooperating with foreign countries. Your request is unreasonable!" Kang Ziqiang argued.

"Judge! In this murder, the murderer's methods were brutal and excessive, torturing the victim to death! We cannot let such a brutal person back into society so easily!"

"Mao Tian is just a suspect. I believe he is not such a cruel person! You don't know Mao Tian, so why do you make such a conclusion?"

"Lawyer Kang! You've only known Mao Tian for an hour or so. How can you say he wouldn't commit murder?" the prosecutor said with disdain. "I heard Mao Tian's grandmother just died. The autopsy report said the victim's injuries and cause of death were exactly the same as his grandmother's."

"What? Where did you get the report?" Kang Ziqiang had never received such a report, so where did this litigator get it?

"According to the investigation, Grandma Mao Tian died due to the explosion of a courier, and this courier was delivered by Wang Yue's company!" The litigant did not answer Kang Ziqiang's question, but continued to speak to the judge.

"When a package exploded, the target should be the person who sent it. What does it have to do with the courier company?"

"Hasn't there been many cases of messengers being killed since ancient times? We can't rule out the possibility that Mao Tian took his anger out on the murderer!"

"Mao Tian is a scientist who believes in facts and evidence. Taking his anger out on others is far-fetched!"

"Isn't he on drugs? Who can guarantee his sanity when he's unconscious?"

"We suspect he didn't take drugs on his own initiative, but was framed!" Kang Ziqiang said to the judge, "Judge, I can have someone who knows Mao Tian provide a character certificate! Please grant bail!"

"Judge! Who knows if they will cover up the fraud? I object!"

"Stop arguing! Is this a vegetable market?" the judge silenced them. "Lawyer Kang, what time is it now? Do you think this can be resolved in ten minutes?"

Five fifty, the court closes at six, there is no such thing as overtime here!

"Are there any other suspects?" the judge asked the two men, and they both shook their heads.

"Since there is no such thing, I will not allow bail! The suspect Mao Tian will be detained pending trial according to the procedure!" The judge said and waved his hand to send people away.

Although they were unwilling, they could not refute the judge since he had spoken.

Back in the detention center, Kang Ziqiang told Mao Tian that the court would not accept his request for bail pending trial and he would be transferred to the detention center tomorrow.

"Try to keep a low profile and don't talk if you can. Clear out the toxins in your body first. I promise that I will let you out soon!" Kang Ziqiang comforted Mao Tian.

Mao Tian didn't say anything. It didn't matter to him where he was. Before he became friends with the people at the base, he was used to being alone and didn't need anyone around.

He just regretted not listening to Lawrence Lu and regretted acting alone. Not only did this fail to help grandma get revenge, it also caused trouble for everyone!

Back at Fuyuan, Kang Ziqiang recounted the entire story to Lu Guansheng. Although Lu Guansheng had already learned everything through Guan Ping, he still listened patiently.

"Guansheng, I haven't even seen Grandma Mao Tian's injury report. How did the prosecutor get it?" Kang Ziqiang raised a question. "Also, did you know that Wang Yue was the one who distributed the explosive packages?"

"I got grandma's report, but I haven't shown it to anyone except me. Only Uncle Zhong has it! He can't give it to anyone else."

As for the latter point, Lu Guansheng said that he had checked it a few days ago, but he also said that they all knew that Wang Yue did not deliver the package, but the drone was hijacked.

As for how the prosecutor knew that Grandma Mao Tian died from a package explosion, he had no idea! They hadn't called the police, requested an investigation, or alerted the media. The prosecutor's source for this information was rather bizarre!
