Chapter 136 Madman's Courtyard

Mu Qingli and Fu Hongzhou got off the bus at the section of road where the mental hospital was. As the bus drove away, the noise on the bus disappeared and their ears were quiet again.

"Cross this street, across the street is the Psychiatry Department of the Haijing University Medical School Hospital!"

"Isn't this a mental hospital?"

"That's just what we're used to calling it! Actually, it's not exactly a specialized mental hospital, it's a sub-department of the hospital!"

"Oh! I see! Should we go in or not? Whether we go in or not, it won't affect my ability to use my mental power!"

"Go in! Otherwise, how will the Tan family be fooled?" Fu Hongzhou said in a cold voice with a malicious look.

"Yes! You have to take good care of your aunt!" Mu Qingli said with a smile.

"Be serious! Maybe there are spies from the Tan family nearby!" Fu Hongzhou glanced at Mu Qingli calmly.

Mu Qingli immediately regained her composure and released her mental power to explore the surroundings.

You know what, she actually discovered someone who was acting sneaky and had his eyes on them.

Mu Qingli turned her back to the sneaky figure, gently touched Fu Hongzhou with her arm, and at the same time, indicated with her eyes that the person was behind her.

Fu Hongzhou understood and took Mu Qingli directly to the courtyard of the hospital's affiliated department.

The old man guarding the gate was sitting under a parasol at the door, reading a newspaper with his reading glasses on.

Fu Hongzhou shouted to the old man inside through the iron railing gate.

"Uncle! I'm here to see someone! Are there any procedures required?" Fu Hongzhou said, taking out a cigarette and handing it over through the gap in the railing.

The old man put down the newspaper, lowered his head, raised his eyes, and looked at Fu Hongzhou over his reading glasses.

He took the cigarette, put it under his nose and sniffed it, then put the cigarette between his ears.

"There's no need for any procedures to see a mental patient. Just register here! There's no one to see the patients here all year round! People call this place the Madman's Courtyard!" muttered the gatekeeper.

He took out a notebook, opened a small door, let Fu Hongzhou in, and lay on the table to register. Mu Qingli followed him in.

I lowered my head and looked at the form on the notebook. It was nothing more than a form of name, age, place of origin, and relationship with the patient, filled out on carbon paper.

After filling it out, the old man put the notebook away, tore off the extra page, and asked them to take it to the lobby on the first floor of the building where the mentally ill patients lived to find medical staff.

The medical staff were a little surprised to see someone walking into the building for the mentally ill. However, when they saw that they had nothing in their hands, they did not find it strange at all. After all, if they took anything from the mentally ill patients, it would be wasted!

Most of the people living here have been forgotten. Their families are eager to get rid of this burden and rarely come to visit. Some have lived here for more than ten years!

"Doctor! We're here to visit someone!" Fu Hongzhou said, handing over the page filled with information.

"I'm here to see Fu Jingyan in Ward 38 on the third floor! Come with me!" A tall and strong female nurse put away the supplementary page and led them to the stairs.

Mu Qingli and Fu Hongzhou followed in silence.

Entering the building for the mentally ill, Mu Qingli couldn't help but feel her scalp tingling.

Each floor was locked with an iron door, and all kinds of noises could be heard from inside: people pounding on the wall, howling, singing, talking...

"Aren't mentally ill people very quiet?" Mu Qingli said quietly.

"Only those with serious illnesses who cannot be taken care of at home will be sent here. Those with calm conditions and mild symptoms are all at home! Who would be willing to send them here?" said the female nurse as she walked.

When they reached the third floor, the female nurse took out a bunch of keys from her pocket and opened the iron door. As the sound of the iron door opening came inside, the originally calm voices became agitated.

On both sides of the corridor are single rooms with iron doors, where patients live.

Some patients banged on the door, while others made a lot of noise and looked out through the small window on the door.

Mu Qingli had been to a mental hospital in the future because one of her relatives suffered from depression and was hospitalized in the hospital.

The same was true on the floor where she was. There were many wards, and all of them were occupied. Except that the floor was locked and people could not go downstairs or out at will, the patients were all very quiet.

However, the relative was still afraid to stay there, because sometimes he could hear the noises of the mentally ill people making noises...

Mu Qingli felt quite creepy, but she was not afraid because those people couldn't get out.

Arriving at the door of Ward 38, the nurse opened the small window on the iron door.

"Patient No. 38, someone is here to see you!" the female nurse shouted.

After shouting, the iron gate was opened. Mu Qingli then discovered that there was another layer of iron railing door inside, which made it convenient for people to visit and prevent people from getting hurt when the person inside was sick.

"Someone is here to see me? Is it Xiaohui? Son! Is it you? Mom knew it! You wouldn't have the heart to leave mom!" Fu Jingyan said, and rushed over.

When he saw Fu Hongzhou at the door, his face darkened.

"Why is it you? Are you here to laugh at my joke? Haha! Do you know how vicious your grandfather is? He sent his own daughter to a lunatic compound with his own hands!"

"You're not as vicious as me! You're making your own mother mad! If I were your grandfather, I wouldn't care if you were homeless! I'd even have to spend money to send you to a mental hospital! Are you worthy of spending the Fu family's money?" Fu Hongzhou said to her coldly and venomously.

"I'm not worthy? Do you think you are worthy? I'm a member of the Fu family after all, my father's biological daughter! What about you? Why don't you let your parents raise you?!"

In fact, Fu Jingyan does not have any mental illness except for the headache. When she has a headache, she can't help but hurt herself to divert her attention, and even bangs her head against the wall in an attempt to relieve the headache.
