Chapter 60: Clearing Up Misunderstandings

Xiao Geng burst into tears as he listened to what Mr. Zhou said.

Over the years, he has been in pain and self-blame all the time. He watched his parents die in front of him, and his heart was hurt more than anyone else's. But all this was caused by his own innocence and his mistaken belief in a jackal as a close friend, which brought trouble upon himself. His eldest brother should hate him.

"Alas! Xiao Geng, in fact, this child witnessed the death of your parents with his own eyes, and he feels worse than anyone else. You should not always be so obsessed with it!" Old Master Fu sighed and then comforted.

The two old men each called the man beside them Xiao Geng. If Mu Qingli didn't know the truth, she might not know whether they were talking about the same person!

"It's all over!" Uncle Geng lowered his head and remained silent for a while, then said softly.

But when I raised my head, my eyes were red.

"Then let's put aside the past and not talk about the past! Look, we two old guys can shake hands and make peace, so what else is there for you two brothers to worry about? Just forgive your youthful recklessness and unintentional mistakes!" Old Zhou said with a smile.

"Have a drink, you two brothers. Let's put aside our grudges and laugh it off!" Mu Qingli took the bottle with a smile and filled each of the brothers' glasses with wine.

Xiao Geng held up the wine glass and looked at Da Geng with red eyes. Da Geng stared at Xiao Geng for a while, then tilted his head back and drank the wine in the glass.

Xiao Geng finished the wine in his glass with tears in his eyes.

Da Geng sighed again, and patted Xiao Geng's shoulder with red eyes.

How could he be willing to do this? He had been treating his younger brother, who had been spoiled by his family since childhood, coldly for many years, but he just couldn't get over it.

Now, the two old leaders, who had been quarreling for so many years, have been able to put aside their past grudges. I don't want to continue to dwell on this matter and treat my own brother as an enemy. I'm afraid that before my parents leave, they still hope that I can take good care of my younger brother.

Seeing them shaking hands and making peace, the two old men were in a very good mood and couldn't help but drink one more glass.

"Okay, you can't drink anymore. You old man haven't touched alcohol in all these years. You can't break the rules and get drunk! Take it easy!" After drinking this glass, Mr. Fu asked Mu Qingli to put away the glass and he was not going to drink anymore.

"You old stingy guy! You never even have enough wine!" Old Zhou joked with a smile.

"Hmph! You're letting me drink it and then wasting it. You have no conscience!" Mr. Fu didn't tolerate it and confronted him directly.

"Mu girl, now that we've finished our meal, shouldn't you tell me what the side effects of the medicine this guy took are?" After finishing his meal and sitting back on the sofa, Grandpa Fu did not forget to ask.

"Old man Fu, why are you like a gossipworm? You only think about gossips." Old Zhou couldn't help but get anxious when he heard that he was still asking questions.

"Hmph! What's it got to do with you?" Old Master Fu glared at him and continued to look at Mu Qingli, expecting an answer.

"Hey! It's that thing..." Under the pressure of Mr. Zhou's gaze, Mu Qingli reported Mr. Zhou's embarrassing appearance to Mr. Fu.

"Hahaha!" After hearing this, Mr. Fu laughed even more happily than when Mu Qingli first said she would not treat him.

It made Mr. Zhou very embarrassed.

"Just laugh! Your teeth will fall out from laughing, and I'll make you drink soup every day!" Old Zhou was also made to laugh by him, and scolded him in a bad mood.

"That's my pleasure too! I should have known not to let Miss Mu treat you!" Old Master Fu said with a smile, "Let you have diarrhea for a few more days!"

"You unscrupulous old bastard!" Old Zhou cursed with a laugh, "You're already old, almost buried, but you still have such a bad taste! The younger generation are watching. Where's your image? Where's your face?"

"You've already said it, we're all peasants, how can we be afraid of losing face?" Mr. Fu repeated Mr. Zhou's words to him.

"By the way, Grandpa Fu, I met Gao Yue today. She looked different from before!" Mu Qingli asked casually.

"Alas! It's his own fault! Now that Gao Jianshe has been dismissed from his post, someone will immediately take advantage of his misfortune and join forces with a certain committee to ransack their house! Who knows, one day they might even be evicted from the house that my old friend allocated!"

"Is my home going to be gone?" Mu Qingli asked in surprise.

"The house in the compound was allocated to me by my old friend when he was alive. If it weren't for the fact that he sacrificed his life for the country, I'm afraid it would have been taken back the year he passed away. The same goes for this house I live in. As soon as I'm buried, I have to return it to the country! I only have the right to live there, not the right to pass it on to my children and grandchildren!"

"Oh! So that's it! I understand!" Mu Qingli said with a smile.

The houses allocated to them by the older generation probably only have the right to live in them by two elderly people. If they are no longer around, the houses will be taken back and their children and grandchildren will not be able to inherit them.

"Grandpa Fu, it's getting late. I'll go back first!" Knowing what she wanted to know and seeing that the two old men were chatting happily, Mu Qingli spoke at the right time.

"It's dark and cold outside, let Xiao Geng take you there!" Mr. Fu said hurriedly after hearing this.

He didn't even need to ask Mu Qingli to stay for one night before leaving, because every time Mu Qingli would find various excuses to leave.

"Well, I'm going the same way anyway, let's go together! I'll take you back to school!" Mr. Zhou also stood up and said.

"No need, just talk to Grandpa Fu more! It looks like it's getting dark outside, but it's actually still early, it's just that it gets dark early in winter. This place is so close to the school, you don't have to send me off, I'm very familiar with the road!" Mu Qingli said, putting on a scarf, hat, and gloves, and after saying goodbye to them, she left.

"This child!" Old Master Fu smiled and shook his head, and asked Uncle Geng to send her out.

"No, you just let this girl go like this? It's dark and the road is slippery!" Old Zhou couldn't help but frown, a little worried.

"Hey! My granddaughter-in-law is very capable! Don't worry about it!" Old man Fu said with a smile.
