After the crowd dispersed, Su Yu could no longer hold back and wanted to go in and ask Yun Jue if all this was a lie and just a misunderstanding.
"Young man, please go in and inform him that I, Su Yu, would like to see His Excellency the Duke."
"It's Master Su. I'll be there right away."
Su Yu was originally the prince's teacher, so the doorman naturally went in to report without any hesitation.
The officer was unaware of the situation and was stopped by the people sent by Qiao Yu earlier when he was about to go in.
He conveyed the master's words to the doorman and stuffed some silver into him. Naturally, after receiving the money, the doorman had to do things more properly.
When Su Yu saw the doorman, he immediately asked, but the doorman who had just looked respectful suddenly became arrogant and looked contemptuous:
"Sir Su, Imperial Concubine Lan has instructed me to convey a message to you. The Princess of Jiasheng is the daughter of a rich Duke. Although Sir Su is a high school graduate, he comes from a humble family. Furthermore, the number one scholar only comes once every three years. Some of these people are beyond Sir Su's reach."
Just one sentence made Su Yu worthless. There was not only one number one scholar in the world, but there was only one legitimate daughter of the Duke of Jiasheng County and the most beloved sister of the current emperor, Concubine Lan.
Su Yu's face turned pale. He understood this, but he could give Yun Jue better, and he knew she deserved the best.
But he was unwilling to give up. He didn't believe that Miss Yun Jue was willing, so he had to find out clearly.
The doorman had always despised the sanctimonious Su Yu, and even respected him as a scholar and didn't want to say anything harsh to him. But this fellow was so ignorant that he delayed the mission assigned to him by the Empress. That was not good.
"Master Su, I respect you as the prince's teacher and don't want to be blunt, but if you insist on making things difficult for me, I will have no choice but to follow the Queen's orders and kick you out."
The servant who followed Su Yu couldn't stand a doorman humiliating his master, so he angrily cursed:
"You are just a gatekeeper, and you dare to be rude to my master!"
The doorman became more and more annoyed as he looked at the two of them, and immediately decided in his heart that Su Yu was a gigolo who relied on women for his living. The top scorer in the high school entrance examination was now just a fifth-rank official.
If a brick falls in the capital, who knows how many fourth-rank officials will be killed, not to mention that he is just a fifth-rank teacher who is not in the court. It is not certain whether he will live off his daughter.
"Lord Su, your teeth are not good. You can drink some porridge. If you refuse to leave, don't blame me for doing something really rude."
Su Yu couldn't stand being humiliated by a doorman, but after reading sage books for so many years, he couldn't allow himself to say such vulgar and despicable words. He just said with a gloomy face:
"Let's be merciful. My dear brother, I am not going to punish you for the sake of the Crown Prince and the Duke. However, you should be more careful with your words and deeds and be more virtuous. I will take my leave."
Su Yu flicked his sleeves and left, secretly taking note of this in his mind. However, he also witnessed the majesty and domineering nature of that lady. She was indeed the woman who could charm the current emperor and gain his exclusive favor.
He couldn't get in now, but the prince would naturally send someone to pick Su Yu up after school later. Su Yu was so anxious just now that he allowed the servants to humiliate him at the gate of Huafu.
At noon, Hua Bo finished his morning lessons and returned home to greet his teacher, but he didn't see anyone. After asking, he realized that the teacher had been driven away by the gatekeeper, and he became furious.
But after all, it was his eldest sister's idea, and Hua Bosheng did not feel any resentment. He just hoped that the doorman took advantage of his power and misrepresented his eldest sister's good intentions.
So Hua Bosheng immediately sent a sedan chair and waited for Su Yu at the door himself. When he saw Su Yu, he bowed and apologized:
"I have been guilty of neglecting you, Master. I hope you will not blame me. I have already sent the gatekeeper away who committed the offense."
Su Yu also knew that there were some messes in Hua Mansion after the Duke's departure. The Hua Mansion managed by the Crown Prince and Madam Hua was still in good order. The evil servant did this only because of the Imperial Concubine's order.
Right now, she was eager to find the answer and Yun Jue, and didn't take the previous disagreement to heart:
"No problem, I know this was not your idea."
Obviously, even the good-tempered Su Yu could not tolerate being humiliated like that, but he was unwilling to make a fuss about it for the sake of Yun Jue and the prince.
But Bosheng was unhappy. Although it was indeed inappropriate for his sister to do this, his eldest sister had her own reasons for doing anything, and Bosheng did not want anyone to be dissatisfied with his eldest sister.
But the other party was his teacher after all, and he had no intention of pursuing the matter further, so Hua Bosheng planned to invite Su Yu to come in and give lectures.
During the class, Su Yu was obviously absent-minded, so Hua Bosheng asked:
"Teacher, you have other things on your mind. It won't matter if I miss a day or two of my classes."
"No, I'm just feeling a bit sleepy and down in the autumn. I'll be fine as long as I continue with my project."
Seeing that the other party was unwilling to speak, Hua Bosheng did not ask any further questions. He studied the topic that the teacher had just assigned him. He had just started writing when he heard Su Yu say:
"Why did His Majesty suddenly grant Third Miss a marriage? Oh... I was just asking casually."
Hua Bosheng had just heard the servants talk about why his elder sister drove the teacher away, and he thought it was just the servants gossiping and his elder sister misunderstanding it, but now it seems that is not the case.
Although the prince was young, his cold frown revealed the aura of a superior:
"Master, why are you suddenly interested in Third Sister's affairs? Could it be..."
Hua Bosheng wanted to criticize him. Although he respected the Master very much, it did not mean that he would allow others to be unafraid of the Hua family's glory. At this time, the servant came in and reported:
"Sir, please convey the Queen's order to invite Lord Su to see you."
The teacher and student in the room looked at each other in confusion, wondering why Concubine Lan suddenly invited Su Yu over. However, Bosheng did not ask Qiao Yu's intention.
Su Yu knew in his heart that Concubine Lan wanted to see him, but he didn't expect her to meet him in person.
