Escape

Escape

"Actually, we can get married." After sharing so much bitterness about being pressured into marriage, Yun Cen suddenly said this jokingly.

He Yu turned to look at Yun Cen, her expression faltering before she laughed it off. She sat to Yun Cen's right, the same position she had taken on their wedding night. The photographer stood behind them, using the same angle and method as that scene before, capturing their backs. On their wedding night, they had used wedding photos hanging on the wall to visually separate them, but this time, they used a bottle of wine, which they could pick up and put down at any time.

He Qiao picked up the bottle of wine and poured a glass for He Yu and himself.

Li Suiwen had previously confirmed with Li Xuanyue that she could not show her entire face in this scene. For this reason, she specially discussed with Li Xuanyue when to show her eyes, when to raise her hands, and even how to blend into the crowd when she stood up and left at the end, and the extent to which her side would be obscured by the moving people. They had rehearsed it several times.

When He Qiao was about to put the wine back, Yun Cen reached out his hand to her. He Qiao looked up at him and was about to hand it over when He Yu took the wine from He Qiao's hand and poured a glass for Yun Cen.

When the class reunion was almost over, He Yu saw everyone leaving. She reached out her hand, almost subconsciously, and grabbed Yun Cen, who was about to get up and leave. She looked at him, facing his puzzled gaze, and muttered as if afraid of being overheard, "It's not that I can't consider it."

As soon as she finished speaking, she let go of his hand.

"Hmm?" Yun Cen quickly understood what He Yu meant. The smile on his face gradually faded, and he nodded slightly, with a "hmm" stuck in his throat.

After finishing the last scene, when Lu Jinfeng was about to leave after removing his makeup and changing his clothes, Li Xuanyue stopped him and asked him not to leave yet.

Lu Jinfeng said nothing, taking a half step back and leaning against the doorframe in frustration. He thought of Lu Yusi's recent plan for a family trip, and when he looked up, he saw the full moon. He had assumed that Li Xuanyue's improvisations would keep filming until the end of the year, but unexpectedly, Li Xuanyue had made last-minute script changes to expedite the process, wrapping up in September. He saw Jiang Yingshan passing by, her face sullen, but she was walking hurriedly, mumbling something. The wait was getting boring, so he asked her for a cigarette. This time, to his surprise, Jiang Yingshan said nothing, didn't even roll her eyes, and simply tossed the cigarette to Lu Jinfeng.

Seeing her hurried movements, Lu Jinfeng thought she was going to throw back a pack of cigarettes. He held the cigarette in his palm and tapped it, recalling how his brother and mother were looking forward to the trip, and began to think of different ways to reject the two of them.

After a moment of silence, he took a few steps forward and decided to go back.

It was only mid-September, but the cherry blossoms planted along the bend had already quietly opened at night. The moonlight and streetlights combined to highlight the blossoms, making them appear even more vibrant than they did during the day. Lu Jinfeng glanced at the cherry blossoms across from him and paused. He lowered his head to light a cigarette, then his attention was drawn to the small pebbles at his feet. Listening to the nearby staff packing up their things, he playfully kicked the pebbles back and forth a few times.

The thin clouds are like a veil, half covering the jade color.

Having finally come up with the right words, Lu Jinfeng felt a sense of relief, a sense of satisfaction. He kicked a little harder, and the stone rolled onto the road, landing smoothly beside a crack. His gaze followed it, a glimpse of a scene he had overlooked. A cool breeze carried the fragrance of flowers, while a warm breeze brought a hint of normalcy. He looked up and, amidst the intertwined branches of the cherry blossoms, he saw a gap in the wall caused by natural aging.

He retracted his gaze, raised his hand to bring the cigarette to his lips, and his unstable breath blew the smoke in front of him. He tried to recall the words he had just considered for a long time, but the harder he tried, the more he couldn't remember. In the end, he was so confused that he couldn't even remember a single word. He tried to find a new stone, but his vision was affected by the smoke and his heart filled with two conflicting emotions. He couldn't empty his mind to escape the trouble, and could only panic and digest the confusion of the scene he had imagined actually happening. He didn't dare to look up, didn't dare to look, and only thought about the person standing on the left side of the gap, as if that was the place of his heart.

For the past few months, whether his day was filled with a multitude of tasks or just one task, he'd been unable to focus on anything. He remained unmoved and unfazed by the scolding and criticism he faced. Even when Li Xuanyue repeatedly threw scripts at him, it failed to stir any extreme emotions, not even the anger he normally easily stirred. It was as if the reason for his actions had vanished. But at this moment, he felt the tension and shame so clearly. The scene he'd imagined unfolded before his eyes.

But he thought that he shouldn't be here now.

"You're here," Li Xuanyue's voice rang out. "I thought you'd forgotten about the reshoot, but why haven't you changed your clothes yet?"

It was directed at him. Lu Jinfeng looked at Li Xuanyue approaching, rubbed the hem of his clothes that was about to reach him, and controlled his emotions that were suddenly bursting out. He used his remaining rationality to try not to let any of it show on his face, not letting the slightest hint of helplessness reveal his complete defeat. "What do you mean by reshoot?"

Li Xuanyue frowned as she watched Lu Jinfeng, who was clearly not in the right state of mind. She had recently been learning how to show her disappointment without being overt. "Didn't I tell you this morning that there was a scene that needed reshooting and that you should prepare well? Didn't you agree then?"

Lu Jinfeng had a vague impression in his mind, but it was quickly washed away. "Really? You should communicate with me again."

"What are you still talking about? It's just a walk for the two of you. We can finish the filming in no time." Li Xuanyue urged, "Why don't you go change your clothes quickly? It's almost dawn."

Lu Jinfeng stood on the road, feeling completely lost as if he didn't know who he was. He was dragged to stand somewhere, and someone patted his face. He had no idea which scene he was reshooting. He was clearly standing here, but it was as if he was not there, as if he was still in yesterday morning. He lost his appetite after taking a bite of breakfast. The screen of his mobile phone lit up. It was a call from Zhan Song. He felt like he was sitting at home, but he also thought he was walking towards the door. He couldn't tell whether he was working or resting. The repeated shouting continued around him... Until Bai Shunan was about to kiss him and his gentle breath sprinkled on his face, he realized that this scene was the eve of Qi Ci's departure.

Bai Shunan saw Lu Jinfeng frowning when he lowered his eyes. He raised his hands and hugged him, hiding their crying expressions.

Lu Jinfeng subconsciously stretched out his trembling hand in an attempt to respond, but it stopped mid-air. At this moment, he felt something touch his face, and Bai Shunan kissed his cheek. Lu Jinfeng hugged Bai Shunan tightly, his cheek close to his neck, feeling the gentle beating that symbolized the glory of life.

He finally understood what was happening.

He closed his eyes and deepened the hug.

A gentle breeze carrying the fragrance of flowers blew away the noise in my head, and all my feelings were amplified and prolonged. When I was in love, the sound entered my ears and I listened to the shape of the sound.

"You..." Everything became smooth and slowly landed on the ground, "Okay?"

“…”

Something was thrown into the sea, disappeared, then floated up in a corner, stirred up waves of foam, and disappeared into the sea along with the foam.

"Are you happy?"

"I'm very happy."

Walking on that road, passing by street lights, I stopped downstairs of the building where I was leaving.

Lu Jinfeng stood there, quietly gazing at the bright sky after he left.
