wedding

Bai Shunan found a nearby hotel to stay in. He leaned against the headboard, slowly drinking absinthe while writing down the itinerary for tomorrow morning on a piece of paper. After finishing a glass of absinthe, he lay down soberly. His stomach was hot, but his body was shivering with cold. He was sweating uncomfortably and guessed that he would get sick again when he returned.

After much deliberation, Bai Shunan still felt uneasy. He got dressed and ran downstairs to discuss the route with the front desk. After repeated inquiries and receiving a positive response, the front desk gave him a paper map and pointed out several routes, including where to catch a bus and a boat. As Bai Shunan listened, he said "thank you" in several languages to the front desk.

He returned to the room and watched the blue of the sky become increasingly clear. He picked up the wrinkled map and went downstairs to check out. He ran to the station and waited for a while before the first bus arrived.

The train whirred along, and Bai Shunan's mind was filled with the feeling of a hangover, yet his mind remained remarkably clear. He attributed this to the two cups of strong coffee he had last night. He immersed himself in the tranquility of this journey, and when he got off the train, he felt reluctant to see it end.

He took a taxi to the church and Bai Shunan got out of the car. On the way to the church, Bai Shunan felt at ease that everything was going to end. Several people selling goods were coming towards him, and he gave all the remaining cash to them. At the moment of giving, a lot of enthusiasm surged into his brain. He walked forward quickly and soberly, but slowed down again when he was approaching the church. However, regardless of the vague fear that had just arisen in his mind, he subconsciously stretched out his hand and pushed open the church door.

A wedding was taking place inside, which was even more sacred and solemn than Bai Shunan had previously imagined. The two newlyweds stood in front of the pastor and looked at each other, and their words were interrupted when they were about to take an oath.

Bai Shunan looked at the groom's profile, and for a moment, his heart was confused again. That was not Ji Xian.

He took two steps back and looked ahead in confusion. He felt powerless as if his fate was destined to be wrong. The blood in his body seemed to flow backwards, and a chill seeped out from his bones. Bai Shunan almost fainted. To prevent this from happening, he closed the door first so that he would not be too embarrassed.

Bai Shunan suddenly felt exhausted. He walked forward aimlessly, his steps so unsteady that it seemed as if he would collapse to the ground in the next second.

He probably remembered the wrong church. Bai Shunan began to doubt his memory. A bench on the road became clear in his sight, with a striking outline. He hurriedly walked over and sat down.

He lowered his head, pressing his hands back and forth on his head which was swollen and painful. Suddenly, a voice in a familiar language came from a distance, calling his most familiar name.

"Bai Shunan, are you Bai Shunan?"

Bai Shunan looked up and saw a tall, outstanding stranger standing in front of him, holding a cell phone. He had a pair of tired but bright eyes, and his tone was somewhat helpless. His voice was clearly heard by Shunan: "Ji Xian asked me to wait for you here. He couldn't contact you."

Bai Shunan found it hard to express the intimacy this man brought to him at this moment. When he heard the name "Ji Xian", tears suddenly flowed down his face. "Did I miss the wedding?"

"No, isn't the wedding in the afternoon? No, why are you crying? Don't cry. The wedding hasn't even started yet and you're already crying. What are you going to cry about later?" The man suddenly responded, "You shouldn't cry even if it's later."

"Well," Bai Shunan stopped crying, "I won't cry anymore."

"That's right," the man handed Sunan his phone, "Here, it's Jixian's number."

"Sunan," Jixian's frantic and anxious voice came from the phone, "Are you okay? Are you okay?"

"Ji Xian, I'm going crazy from exhaustion."

"I'm glad you're okay," Ji Xian heaved a sigh of relief when he heard Bai Shunan's voice, and his tone became calmer. "What happened yesterday? I called you but you didn't answer."

"My luggage was stolen."

Ji Xian was silent.

"Don't laugh." Bai Shunan said in a heavy voice, as if he had already seen Ji Xian's annoying look as he was trying to hold back his laughter.

"Okay, okay, I'm glad you're safe." Ji Xian's voice still had a hint of smile, "Aren't you tired? Go back to the hotel and rest for a while."

"Um."

Bai Shunan followed the man to a car. As soon as he opened the back door, he saw a four or five-year-old girl sitting inside, holding an orange juice. The man introduced her, "This is my daughter, Qiuqiu."

Qiuqiu stretched out her little hand towards Bai Shunan, "Hello, my name is Yan Qiuyun, you can just call me Qiuqiu."

Bai Shunan got into the car and shook hands with Qiuqiu. Her hand was still a little cold from the orange juice cup. "Hello, Qiuqiu."

"Qiuqiu likes you very much." The man looked at Bai Shunan with some surprise.

Bai Shunan looked at Qiuqiu, "Really? Thank you for your love, Qiuqiu."

Qiuqiu smiled and waved her hand, "You're welcome."

Bai Shunan turned his gaze to the man driving the car, "Excuse me, are you Ji Xian's?"

"Oh, I don't know Ji Hyun well. I know the bride."

Bai Shunan made his own guess appropriately, "Are you the bride's brother?"

"That's not the case. I tried to pursue her, but I didn't succeed."

Bai Shunan pursed his lips and fell silent.

The man was obviously a talkative person. "Originally, Ji Xian wanted the bride's brother to pick you up, but he was drunk yesterday and couldn't drive. Qiuqiu wanted to go out for a walk, so I came."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome." At this moment, the man's cell phone rang. He picked up the phone, took a look, and then handed it to the back, "Qiuqiu, it's Mom calling."

Qiuqiu took the phone and answered the video call. She waved happily at the phone, "Mom!"

"It's Qiuqiu. Are you used to staying there?"

"I'm used to it. It's beautiful here. Dad even took me on a boat ride. I'm going to attend a beautiful sister's wedding this afternoon. Mom, is there something you're calling about?"

"I just miss Qiuqiu."

"I miss mommy too, muah."

"Yeah, kiss."

"By the way, Mom, I just met a very handsome brother." Qiuqiu turned her head and looked at Bai Shunan with starry eyes, "Brother, do you mind letting Mom see you?"

Bai Shunan responded with a smile, "I don't mind."

The next second, Qiuqiu raised the phone in front of Bai Shunan, and a woman with a gentle appearance appeared in Shunan's eyes. He greeted the woman on the screen.

The woman looked at Bai Shunan with a smile, and suddenly her eyes lit up, much like Qiuqiu who had the same expression, "Hey hey hey! I think I've seen you somewhere before, really. Oh yes, Ah Hui, do you remember that horror movie we watched together last year? He seemed to be the doctor who drove his car into the lake."

"I have some impression." Ah Hui, who was driving, did not look back.

"Wow, Shunan, your name is Bai Shunan, right?"

Bai Shunan smiled and said "hmm".

"You acted really well in it, and you look good too. You have no idea how disappointed I was that you didn't appear in the second half of the movie."

"Thanks."

The woman laughed twice. "By the way, Ah Hui, you really did go to her wedding. That's understandable. Did she invite you?"

"Who else could it be? Have you forgotten that she loves to stir up trouble? She even sent two invitations."

"Wow, I should be there for this kind of scene."

"Are you living well over there?"

"Very good, but I missed you guys a little bit..." Some musical instruments were heard from outside the screen. "Ah, I have some work to take care of here, so I'll hang up first. Bye."

"Okay, bye mom!"

"See you in November." Ah Hui's voice sounded at this time.

The woman on the screen smiled and said, "See you in November."

After hanging up the phone, Qiuqiu did not return the phone to Ahui, but started playing the game with ease.

"I remember watching another movie of yours a long time ago, about ten years ago. It was a very healing family film. I still have some impression that you missed the chance to recognize your lover in it."

Bai Shunan looked surprised and said, "That was my first movie."

"I noticed something when I watched it. I thought you would see each other again, but I didn't expect you to separate in the first half of the movie. We were still laughing and chatting together the last time we met."

"You left such a deep impression on me, I almost forgot."

"I had just experienced a breakup."

“…”

"I really want to ask you, what did you think after you knew she still loved you?"

Bai Shunan didn't expect to be asked this question at this time and place. He thought for a moment and said, "I don't have any thoughts. I can't think of anything."

"There has to be something," Ah Hui said, becoming particularly persistent. "Why don't you grab those few memories?"

"That time was too long ago."

"Really? Your life obviously revolves around her, yet you've let it go like that."

Bai Shunan said calmly, "Who made me die so early in there?"

"Yeah." Ah Hui was quiet for a moment, looking at the hotel ahead. He still insisted on the topic, "If you could do it again, would you create memories related to her, or would you stay the same?"

"Still the same."

Ah Hui stopped the car, looked at the people standing in front of the hotel waiting, and said softly, "Mingyue said the same thing."
