Chapter 134
I want to see your reluctance to part.
Cheng Sangluo listened intently, but the heartfelt words of love from the person in her arms did not elicit a response from her. Even though the words were filled with humble pleas for love, she remained expressionless and indifferent.
The chandelier on the ceiling swayed almost imperceptibly, casting light and shadow on her face, making her already distinct features appear even more somber.
She remained lying on her back, and her right hand, which could move freely, no longer held her lover tightly as before. A strong sense of hatred and repulsion made her unwilling to touch him too much.
The two were pressed intimately together, yet there was a vast distance separating them, like mountains and seas.
They remained silent, creating a long silence that seemed to stand still, so long that their breathing became exceptionally slow.
Cheng Sangluo seemed to understand something, her lips moving slightly as she let out a soft sigh: "This kind of love is too heavy; it has transformed into an invisible cage, trapping not only me, but also you..."
It was so heartbreaking to hear her words that she choked up and paused for a long time before finally swallowing back her tears. "Lin Jin, we've known each other for so long, why don't you understand what I really want and what I'm most afraid of?"
The answer was stuck in Cheng Sangluo's mouth, but she couldn't get it out. She wished that the person who claimed to love her could understand that what she wanted was freedom, and what she was afraid of losing was also freedom.
Lin Jin was so incredibly intelligent; how could she not know what the unspoken answer in her lover's mouth was? It was just that by the time the question was brought to the forefront, it was already too late.
"So... even after I said so much... you still chose not to want me..." She tilted her head, her cheek pressed tightly against Cheng Sangluo's heart, and sighed softly, "Do you know why I like to listen to your heartbeat? It's not just to prove that I truly have you. I just can't understand why your heart is so hard and so cold?"
After speaking, Lin Jin raised her face and slowly moved closer to Cheng Sangluo. Her cool fingertips caressed Cheng Sangluo's chapped lips. The unrequited love in her eyes was so intense it was suffocating. The kiss that was about to fall became especially difficult, but the person in front of her did not resist or run away. Only her eyes were filled with resistance and hostility.
Lin Jin was on the verge of a mental breakdown, her neck twitching morbidly. She knew that forcing things would only bring pain, but she stubbornly refused to break free from the invisible cage.
Cheng Sangluo hadn't seen her like this in a long time. Her breath caught in her throat for no reason. She temporarily put aside her terrible mood and asked hesitantly, "Are you... are you alright?"
"If I said... I would die without you... would you believe me..." Lin Jin's neck twitched occasionally, looking somewhat embarrassed, but the symptoms of somatization were beyond her control, so she could only let her mental state get worse and worse.
"Unlock the handcuffs, I'll take you to take your medicine." Cheng Sangluo finally raised his arm, placed his broad palm on the back of her neck, and sat up so that the person in his arms could lean against him more securely.
"And then?" Lin Jin certainly wouldn't easily agree to such a request, and continued, "Then you left me alone in this huge villa, enduring one pitiful night after another?"
“You can’t keep me trapped here forever. My case hasn’t been resolved yet, and Ji Nanxing will eventually come knocking on my door. Do you want to become the next Lin Sheng?” Cheng Sangluo answered logically, and then added, “You implanted a chip in my spine. Although I don’t know exactly what it’s for, judging from the times I saved you, it should have a location tracking function. So, even if I run to the ends of the earth, you can still find me. Where can I escape to?”
"What a clever little dog~" Lin Jin tilted her head and smiled, stroking Cheng Sangluo's face, seemingly struggling with whether or not she should let her go.
Cheng Sangluo no longer dodged the outstretched hand, letting the caress move back and forth across her face.
Her feelings for Lin Jin were too complicated. She truly hated him, but how could her love have disappeared so easily? If it weren't for those feelings, even if the madwoman died right in front of her, she would remain unmoved.
"Then what guarantees do you have that you won't leave me?" Lin Jin pressed her lips to Cheng Sangluo's ear, the whisper carrying an ambiguous warmth, her pearly teeth rubbing against his earlobe, creating a tingling, itchy sensation. "If you want me... right now... with or without love... I want to see your reluctance..."
Cheng Sangluo was going crazy. Suppressing the itch that ran through her ears and heart, she snapped, "Do you think this is appropriate?!"
"Is it inappropriate?" Lin Jin wrapped her arms around her lover's neck, leaned back, and let out a sickly laugh: "Hahaha... The way you are now reminds me so much... I miss the way you were a long time ago... You resisted me but couldn't escape the desire I brought you... Everything has gone back to the way it was before... But it's okay... You'll love me again... You definitely will..."
"You're crazy!" Cheng Sangluo cursed, but instinctively put her hand on Lin Jin's waist to prevent her from losing her balance and falling backward. In her anxiety, she raised her voice: "I promise you, I promise you, okay? I won't leave, I won't leave. I'll stay here obediently. Just give me the most basic freedom, is that alright?"
"I want you~" Lin Jin's stubbornness had reached the point of madness, and these two words were constantly on her lips.
She pulled the handcuff key from her robe pocket, flashed it in Cheng Sangluo's eyes, and then slipped it into her underwear hidden beneath the robe, whining enticingly saying, "Look, the freedom you've always dreamed of is right here. Come and take it~"
Cheng Sangluo looked down through the disheveled robe, nervously swallowed, and opened and closed her lips, unsure of what else to say.
"You're usually the best at pleasing me, how come you can't even be polite now?" Lin Jin's expression grew increasingly impatient, her voice seductive as she said, "If you're not in the mood, that's okay, we can do it like the first time... I have plenty of medicine... I can take it with you..."
"Are you crazy?!" Cheng Sangluo tensed up instantly. That damned thing could actually reappear in Lin Jin's mouth. "Love can't be forced, and neither can sex!"
“Yes, I’m crazy…” Lin Jin hated the word 'crazy' coming out of Cheng Sangluo’s mouth, so with a defiant attitude, she accused, “Don’t you like to call me a crazy woman the most? I’m crazy because of you, I’m sick because of you, you’ve tormented me to this state, why do you want to absolve yourself of all responsibility?”
"If you're sick, take your medicine!" Cheng Sangluo was furious. What kind of time is this to be arguing about this kind of topic?
She quickly raised her hand from Lin Jin's back, hesitated for a moment, but soon made up her mind, muttering, "Lin Jin, I'm sorry."
Lin Jin was puzzled as to why her beloved would suddenly apologize. Before she could even think about it, those deep, dark eyes widened and then gradually closed. A sharp, swift pain swept through her body, and she lost consciousness.
Cheng Sangluo's swift, sweeping 'knife' strike left a blur as he forcefully chopped at the back of Lin Jin's neck, then quickly scooped the limp, slipping man into his arms.
No matter how much time passes, she remains a soft-hearted goddess, still showing tenderness to her ruthless lover.
Instead of immediately taking the key that Lin Jin had hidden, she placed her palm on the neck where she had just been chopped and gently massaged it for a while before taking out the key to unlock the handcuffs.
Her arm, which had been suspended for too long, was aching terribly. She leaned against the headboard and moved her joints, taking advantage of a brief lull to glance down at the person lying beside her.
The imprisonment lasted only a little over a day. Lin Jin looked haggard, as if she had just recovered from a serious illness. Her sunken cheeks were deathly pale, and even her lips had lost some color.
Cheng Sangluo threw off the covers and stepped barefoot onto the cold floor. A thousand thoughts of leaving without looking back arose in her mind, but she was completely rejected by her soft heart on the last occasion.
She took a few steps and then turned back to the bedside, annoyed that she was making the same mistake again and again. But when she thought of watching Lin Jin being taken away by thugs on the mountain road, she realized that learning from her mistakes was pointless.
Despite the intense pain radiating from her back injury, she bent down and struggled to lift the unconscious Lin Jin, then silently left the dimly lit room.
Cheng Sangluo walked very slowly, partly because of the dog bite wound on her leg, and partly because she was used to walking steadily while carrying Lin Jin, so as not to accidentally fall on her beloved.
She lifted her arms and hugged Lin Jin even tighter, thinking to herself that she was too thin, far too thin, as if a gust of wind could sweep this woman away to the ends of the earth.
After stepping out of the room, Cheng Sangluo looked around and realized that she was in Chen Man's collection room. She couldn't help but look back at the door behind her and realized that Lin Jin had placed her in a dark room.
"Do you see me as just another collectible?" Cheng Sangluo asked Lin Jin helplessly, a bitter smile playing on her lips. She shook her head. "Sigh... what are you thinking... if we didn't do these incomprehensible things... we could have started over... we could have lived the good life you've always dreamed of..."
Cheng Sangluo took the home elevator downstairs and easily settled Lin Jin on the large bed in the master bedroom, carefully tucking the blankets in.
The small bedside lamp cast a warm yellow light, which fell on Lin Jin's slightly furrowed brows, adding a touch of melancholy.
Cheng Sangluo gazed at her quietly, unable to resist reaching out to smooth the strands of hair that were tugging at the corner of her lips. She then looked out the French windows, where the night was deep and the dew heavy, and she wondered how long it would be.
"Gurgle—gurgle—" Just as she was about to consider whether to stay or leave, her stomach suddenly growled with hunger.
She touched her empty stomach, realizing she hadn't eaten for two days and had been shocked by the crazy woman again and again, so she reached out and poked Lin Jin's forehead with her finger: "You just know how to bully me!"
*
Lin Jin did not sleep well that night.
She wandered through one dream after another, those chaotic, clear, and passionate dreams intertwined to create all sorts of scenes, but the person who was always by her side never changed.
In her dream, Cheng Sangluo wore a neatly ironed military uniform, stood tall and straight, and his wheat-colored skin looked healthy in the sunlight. He stood at a distance that was neither too close nor too far away, smiling brightly at her.
Lin Jin tried to take her hand, but after chasing her all night, he still couldn't reach her, just like that one step away in the real world.
As if there was still something unresolved, she subconsciously urged herself to wake up, but she still slept in a daze until dawn.
The bedroom curtains weren't drawn, and sunlight streamed in, disturbing Lin Jin's sleepiness.
With a deep, sharp breath, she quickly opened her eyes and saw that the chandelier on the ceiling was not the one in the dark room. A flood of fear and loss overwhelmed her.
"Cheng Sang..." Her call was hysterical, but she fell silent before she could even utter Cheng Sangluo's name, because the person in her dream had entered reality.
Lin Jin brushed aside her disheveled hair, placed her palm on her forehead, and tilted her head to look at Cheng Sangluo sitting in the chair by the bed. After a moment of silence, she murmured, "You...why didn't you leave...such a good opportunity..."
Cheng Sangluo changed into loose-fitting home clothes and was pounding steaming white porridge in her hands. She must have returned to the bedroom not long after.
She ate her congee without a care in the world, and said cryptically, "I'm not like some people who can't lie. Since I promised I wouldn't leave, I'll still be here at least after you open your eyes."
Lin Jin hunched over his thin shoulders, thinking of how Cheng Sangluo had ruthlessly knocked him unconscious, and couldn't help but raise his hand to rub the back of his neck. "You dare to hit me? Aren't you afraid of my revenge?"
"Get up and have breakfast." Cheng Sangluo didn't answer this meaningless question. She stood up and walked straight to the door, saying indifferently, "Let's talk about the divorce while we're at it."
