Chapter 44
You want me, don't you?
The midnight after the thunder and lightning was quiet, as if the storms that had disturbed the city had never happened.
The glass prison-like room was brightly lit, like an anomaly in the dark, stubbornly emitting a faint glow.
The two people sitting on the sofa remained stubbornly silent, fitting the deathly stillness of the scene.
Cheng Sangluo waited patiently for Lin Jin's answer, even though she knew that after countless questions, the crazy woman would only dodge the question and push the topic away, she still carried a deep sense of anticipation.
Lin Jin seemed to be preparing for the emotions brought about by the topic, so she simply changed to a more comfortable position.
She leaned against the sofa armrest, resting her slender, fair legs on the puppy's lap, and raised her toes to brush against its defined jawline.
The scene was no different from that night at the pool party; the frivolity and provocation ingrained in the crazy woman's bones seemed impossible to erase.
Cheng Sangluo subconsciously leaned back, trying to avoid this familiar harassment, and sighed, "Do you have some kind of obsession with hooking my face with your foot? Why do you have to humiliate me like this?"
"Humiliate? You only do that because you really like someone." Lin Jin raised an eyebrow, spouting her twisted logic with self-righteousness. "When I'm curious about something, I think about testing it, and testing you with my toes is the most fun method, it never fails!"
Cheng Sangluo scoffed, "Tsk, boring."
After saying that, she used her thumb and forefinger to clamp down on the foot that was causing trouble below her face, but instead of exerting force secretly as before, she quietly tucked it into her bosom, because the tender, white, and smooth foot was unusually cold, as if she had stepped on an entire frozen snowfield.
Lin Jin squinted her eyes and enjoyed the sensation. The temperature on his chest was just right, and the touch was extremely delicate. Waves of comfort washed over her, traveling from her toes to her heart.
This feeling is addictive.
After a moment of silence, she finally spoke, getting back to the main topic.
"There are too many things you want to know, but what identity should you use to learn about those unknown things? As someone who can't pay off their debts, or as an enemy, or... as someone who has slept with me a few times?"
Lin Jin tilted her head and asked with a smile. The words were unpleasant, but they were true. What right did someone with no status have to probe her secrets?
"This is not a reason for you to insist on marrying me." Cheng Sangluo's mouth remained stubborn. No matter how much she wanted to know Lin Jin's motives, she did not waver in her decision to marry him.
"Can't you see? I never answer your questions because I want to keep you hooked until you willingly accept me." Lin Jin confessed his true feelings, leaving the unknown answers on his lips, whetting Cheng Sangluo's appetite. "I believe that day is not too far away."
That's exactly the effect she wanted. Puppies are easily tempted, so of course they'll gradually carry the bait towards her.
"Fine, I won't ask anymore. Do whatever you want." Cheng Sangluo shrugged indifferently, preparing to get up to check if the clothes were dry, but was stopped by the foot in front of her.
"Wait a minute."
"What are you planning to do now?"
"Since you've been so kind as to keep me company today, I should repay you. Think carefully and choose the question you most want to know, and I will answer it truthfully." Lin Jin was reluctant to let Cheng Sangluo leave, so she threw out an extremely tempting hook in order to keep this person who could leave her at any time.
Cheng Sangluo sat sideways, looking suspiciously at the woman with the sly smile. She was probably deep in thought, so she didn't say a word for a long time.
Lin Jin didn't urge him. She leaned back on the sofa, kissing his thoughtful face with her eyes, and smiled with increasing affection.
"Hmm..." Cheng Sangluo pondered for a moment, frantically searching her mind for all the things she was curious about.
The crazy woman in her eyes indeed had too many unsolved mysteries. Even with the detailed information provided by Wei Yun, there were only two thin pages of information about Lin Jin, almost all of which were about Senyao Group, with only a few words about her personally.
"Hmm..." Lin Jin mimicked a puppy making a long "hmm" sound from its nose, teasingly adding, "What should I do? There are so many things I want to know~"
"Tsk." Cheng Sangluo clicked her tongue, cursing the woman who loved watching the drama unfold.
In that brief moment, countless questions had already popped into her mind.
For example, why is Lin Jin afraid of thunder? What mental illness does she suffer from? Why is her relationship with Shu Wan so bad? Did she really intend to use him? Or why did she abandon the Lin family business and insist on starting her own...?
These kinds of curious questions are so numerous that one doesn't know where to begin, until a horrifying image flashes through one's mind, clogging up the dense array of questions and making them seem less important.
Cheng Sangluo coughed twice and muttered, "How did you get those scars on your back?"
This question was unexpected by Lin Jin.
She wished Cheng Sangluo would ask if they had known each other before, so that she could unfold the story of a certain day many years ago.
However, this sudden question shattered all expectations.
Lin Jin gathered her long hair over her shoulders, her leaning posture adding a touch of allure to conceal her physical disability.
She should be happy; among all those questions, this one was full of care and tenderness, even like a pleasant surprise.
It turns out the puppy has such a good memory, so good that it can't remember the beautiful scenery on the yacht, but it does remember the ugliest details.
"It was from sulfuric acid." Lin Jin's answer was simple, yet utterly honest.
Her tone was calm and her expression was unchanging, as if the piercing burning sensation was something she had experienced in a past life.
In fact, over the years, that folded scar still occasionally aches, rubs against her clothes, and hurts from the strange looks she gets from people. It constantly reminds her that everything really happened.
Those few words cast a heavy shadow over the originally peaceful atmosphere.
Cheng Sangluo's brows furrowed involuntarily, his sharp eyes piercing the deep, still lake.
She tried to find even the slightest hint of a lie, but after staring at it for a long time, she found nothing. Only then did she ask in surprise, "Why is this?"
"I'll only answer one question for you. Asking any more would be beyond my scope~" Lin Jin twirled a strand of hair between her fingers, proving herself to be a master at catching dogs and playing a wonderful game of rules.
"You!" Cheng Sangluo was speechless with anger, and flung away the feet blocking her way. "Asking is pointless, how disgusting!"
Lin Jin didn't want to dwell on that horrible day, so she leaned in and hugged Cheng Sangluo, cooing in a low voice, "Little dog, I'm so hungry, the noodles are all soggy, are you going to let me go hungry?"
This cunning woman even wore a silky nightgown halfway down, deliberately revealing the unsightly old scars on her back, hoping to make that soft-hearted god waver a little for her.
Cheng Sangluo did see the wrinkled flesh marks, and pressed her tightly closed lips together again. The visible pain was contagious, making her feel uncomfortable all over.
She reached out and straightened Lin Jin's clothes, muttering under her breath, "Whose fault is it that the dough is all soggy?"
"It's your fault for making me angry~"
"It's your fault for speaking without thinking."
It's good that they can bicker; the two sullen souls who were at odds have made up again.
Lin Jin transformed into a soft-boned snake, coiling up his slender body to his neck, and lazily called out, "You don't have to eat noodles, but you'll have to stay here with me as punishment, or I won't let you have a peaceful night."
"You're the one who told me to get lost, and you're also the one who told me to stay. You're so contradictory." Cheng Sangluo was still arguing over that one word, her tone full of resentment. "I'm not playing along anymore."
"It's not just me who's conflicted; the puppy is too. The puppy is hiding outside the door and hasn't left. The puppy must not want to leave me alone through the long night."
The puppy bristled: "Stop calling me 'little dog' all the time, it's annoying!"
"Cheng Sangluo...hug me...please..." Lin Jin wiped away her unrestrained laughter and made a very serious invitation.
Such a night was unbearable for her; she desperately needed a lovemaking session to wash away the fear brought on by those dark memories.
That stubborn and argumentative person remains unmoved even with a woman in his arms, yet he is easily swayed by temptation.
The crazy woman seemed to have become her weakness; a little whisper in her ear and her heart would soften.
Cheng Sangluo held her slender waist with one hand, gently pulling her into his arms.
She couldn't learn to respond with a gentle tone, and could only rely on eye contact to soothe the palpitations in her heart. She refused to admit that she had been seduced by the crazy woman, but she followed the honesty of her body.
"This is what you want, isn't it?" Lin Jin's eyes were tender as her fingertips traced Cheng Sangluo's eyebrows and eyes, eventually leading to her lips. "No matter what you do, you have to have ambition to achieve results beyond your imagination. Making love is the same."
"Nonsense and heresy." Cheng Sangluo sneered, but she seemed to agree with the statement in her heart, because she had already lowered her head and placed a tentative kiss on her.
The kiss landed on Lin Jin's neck, accompanied by the alluring fragrance of her breath, having a natural aphrodisiac effect.
Lin Jin wrapped her legs around his strong waist, leaning back and half-suspended in the air, letting out a ticklish laugh: "I really want to put a collar on you and walk you all over the house, what should I do, little puppy~"
"Pervert." Cheng Sangluo cursed under his breath, then took a big bite. "Behave yourself."
"Ouch—" Lin Jin hissed in pain, but quickly sighed with pleasure, "It hurts so much, but it feels so good too. The more you bite, the better it feels~"
This woman is infuriating!
Cheng Sang cursed inwardly, yet the kiss was so earnest, so intense, that it stirred up his ambition.
"Was it fun?" she asked dully, easily picking up the crazy woman who was clinging to her and turning around to throw her forcefully onto the sofa.
"Of course~" Lin Jin's eyes shimmered with desire, making the smile on her lips even more captivating.
She took the opportunity to pull open Cheng Sangluo's bathrobe, letting the collar hang wide to admire his beautiful muscle lines, and couldn't help but let out a satisfied sigh.
Cheng Sangluo knelt on the edge of the sofa, trapping the crazy woman in a small corner.
She grabbed Lin Jin's chin, her eyes darkening. "Lin Jin, do you know how angry I am right now? I'm angry at myself for worrying about you, angry at myself for being shameless, for refusing to leave even after being scolded, and even angrier at how you bullied me like that..."
Cheng Sangluo's voice stopped abruptly, and her fingertips, which had been pinching Lin Jin's chin, slid inch by inch until they rested on Lin Jin's slightly curved swan neck.
She lowered her head, and instead of a perfunctory kiss, she bit down hard on the back of the hand that was covering her neck.
How much self-blame must she bear to be able to show such tenderness, to always think of not hurting the person who hurt her?
Cheng Sangluo bit her hand until a trace of blood seeped from the teeth marks before sadly letting go.
She pressed her forehead against Lin Jin's, sobbing, "You bullied me so much, and yet I only wanted one night of pleasure with you. What do you think of me? Aren't I the most despicable... but Cheng Sangluo..."
