Chapter 96

Chapter 96

So you were the one I was dreaming of.

Zhongyao Technology's security was not as strict as Cheng Sangluo had imagined. Visitors could easily enter and exit by simply signing a visit record at the guardhouse.

Spicy Soldier had a bright idea and thought of using conversation to confirm his doubts.

She leaned against the window with a pen in hand, methodically signing the date and reason for her visit, while casually asking the security guard in the gatehouse, "Is your General Manager Lin here today? I made an appointment in advance to discuss cooperation. She's as busy as an emperor, so I don't want to come all this way for nothing."

Cheng Sangluo wasn't sure what Lin Jin's role was in the company, but the names Zhongyao and Senyao sounded like close sisters, and it was obvious they had a very close relationship.

"President Lin?" The security guard clicked his tongue in disbelief, unable to recall who he was referring to. Then, belatedly, he exclaimed, "Oh, you mean the big boss who's been coming to inspect our work recently?"

“Yes, yes, Lin Jin.” Cheng Sangluo nodded repeatedly, teasingly adding, “You can’t even remember your own boss? Be careful you don’t get scolded!”

The security guard chuckled awkwardly and started chatting casually, "Those are people who live in the sky, how could they possibly stoop to the level of us lowly security guards? You've come at a bad time, the leaders have an important meeting today, you'll probably have to wait."

Cheng Sangluo put down her pen and was about to stand up and leave when she said, "Thanks."

"Hey, wait a minute." The security guard called out to her in time, and picked up the booklet to check it carefully. He pointed to the contents and said, "Fill in your contact number and ID number. If you have an appointment, you also need to fill in who you contacted. You can't just say it without proof."

Cheng Sangluo thought to herself that this security was quite troublesome; even filling out a visitor record required writing down every little detail.

Just as she bent down at the window again to slowly fill in the information, Wei Yun's military jeep smoothly glided past the door.

"Take another look, is that alright? I've written it in enough detail." Cheng Sangluo handed the booklet to the security guard, urging him with a jumbled mess of words, "Don't waste my time. We're talking business, every second counts."

"Okay, go in." The security guard pressed the access button and let her in.

Cheng Sangluo put his hands in his back pockets, looked around the company environment, and walked into the office building.

Even though she hadn't been here for many years, the furnishings in the building hadn't changed much, and she remembered them vividly, so she knew the way like the back of her hand.

The puppy considered whether to call Lin Jin, but then remembered that the security guard said there was an important meeting today, so she gave up the idea.

Cheng Sangluo did not choose to take the elevator, but instead walked straight through the corridor and climbed up the emergency staircase.

Since we're already here and no one's stopping us, why not revisit this place?

Cheng Sangluo climbed the stairs slowly, as if preparing herself mentally.

She stepped over each step with steady and devout steps, giving the impression of someone coming to fulfill a vow.

There may be a reason why they walked so slowly; they should properly say goodbye to that figure whose face they could not see.

That image had haunted her dreams for so many years, and with the passage of time, the initial flutter of her heart had faded.

She needs to empty her heart so that the person she truly loves can settle down peacefully.

The person who makes her both angry and happy always likes to put their ear to her heart, to listen to her heartbeat, to repeatedly confirm whether it's real, before they can get a good night's sleep.

Alas, those insecure and suspicious people.

Cheng Sangluo let out a soft sigh. In fact, she saw everything: Lin Jin's helplessness when she lacked a sense of security, her need for a hug to bury her fear, and her efforts to use nonchalance to disguise her piety when seeking the truth.

The puppy was unaware of how complex her lover's expression was at that moment, half helpless and half tender.

Unfortunately, Lin Jin's temper was unpredictable and hard to fathom, and his tenderness towards this crazy woman was like a gentle spring rain in March.

When she came to her senses, Cheng Sangluo had already climbed to the floor where she had first encountered that figure.

She remembered clearly that in that bright and straight corridor, there was a frosted glass wall that seemed to have no end, so she subconsciously remembered the floor number when she left.

She gently opened the door to the emergency stairwell, but did not immediately take a step out, filled with curiosity.

Why do I feel a sense of trepidation?

Cheng Sangluo raised her eyebrows, secretly mocking herself for being so absurd, having such a deep obsession with a figure she didn't even know what he looked like.

No, you can't be a person who is morally disloyal.

The puppy shook its head vigorously, took a deep breath, and started walking.

The empty corridor was deserted; nothing had changed, yet everything felt strange.

Perhaps because she heard the assembly order, Cheng Sangluo didn't have time to carefully examine her surroundings, so the corridor in her memory was only bright and blurry.

Today she can wander freely and leisurely, with plenty of time to observe the details here.

She marched in step as she always had, raising her left arm, her fingertips touching the rough, sandpaper-like glass, and silently curving into a faint smile.

The frosted glass walls that stretched along the entire corridor were actually a series of offices.

She turned her head to look closely, subconsciously hoping to find the figure from her dream in the hazy light.

She just wanted to know what the person looked like, whether he was good-looking or not. Getting an answer was better than nothing.

As Cheng Sangluo stared blankly at the glass wall, her eyes, brightened by the lamplight, suddenly caught a glimpse of a blurry, beautiful figure.

That slender figure, with its graceful curves, resembled a sketch—realistic yet abstract, but undeniably pleasing to the eye.

Cheng Sangluo's pupils gradually dilated, revealing a dazed disbelief. In that instant, she became certain that the person inside the glass wall was the one she had been longing for.

Instead of frantically searching for the door to the room, she traced the outline of the figure with her fingertips, as if comparing it with the figure in her memory, or as if this would etch the memory deeper.

The person inside the room must have had their back to the glass, so they were unaware that behind them, a pair of curious eyes were intently gazing at them.

Cheng Sangluo took two steps back and looked for the door.

Just as she was about to walk towards the door, the people inside followed the same direction, swaying slowly, their movements exuding a casual familiarity.

Cheng Sangluo raised her arm again, her fingertips tapping the glass, just like many years ago, in sync with the footsteps of the people inside.

She kept her head turned to the side, but her expression became increasingly helpless, feeling that her behavior was very unfair to Lin Jin.

Perhaps this is just a way of fulfilling a vow, to soothe the budding emotions of many young people; there's nothing more to it than emotional connection or liking.

The distance to the door wasn't too far, but because we weren't walking fast, it seemed to take a long time.

Time seemed to freeze when the two of them stood in two separate worlds, separated by a door, and even their breath caught in their throats.

Cheng Sangluo held her breath, probably because she was nervous, or maybe because she was afraid of scaring the people inside. She took a step back, her heart pounding in her throat, but she couldn't utter a sound.

As the person inside slowly opened the frosted glass door, her clear eyes sparkled with excitement and boundless curiosity. But when she saw the other person's face clearly, all those complex emotions transformed into astonishment beyond her imagination.

That familiar haute couture business attire, those elegant and refined features—you can remember them even with your eyes closed.

The breeze from the door brought a familiar scent to Cheng Sangluo's nose, which gradually overlapped with the scent in her memories, stirring up a fluttering heart that made her feel flustered and helpless.

Cheng Sangluo had always felt that Lin Jin's scent was familiar, comforting and captivating; it turned out that everything had a traceable origin.

She stood there dumbfounded, speechless for a moment, her gaze fixed intently on Lin Jin's face.

Her mind went more than a beat slow; it practically crashed. She managed to pull her thoughts back in a few seconds of lag.

Her hands hung limply at her sides, her fingertips unconsciously curling up to try and dispel the inexplicable tingling sensation. She wanted to take a step forward, but hesitated to move.

Perhaps this is a true reflection of being at a loss.

Lin Jin took a while to calm down in the reception room.

Without any psychiatric medication to suppress her physicalization, she managed to pull herself out of a state of near sanity by trying to think about the puppy.

The overwhelming illness left her no time to notice anything unusual outside the door.

When she finally saw the tall, unmoving figure before her, she was momentarily disoriented, unsure whether it was a hallucination caused by her illness or simply a result of missing her puppy too much.

Lin Jin's gaze lingered on Cheng Sangluo's face. She secretly pinched the back of her hand hard, and the pain told her that the person in front of her was real.

The joy of seeing the puppy was short-lived, quickly replaced by immense doubt, astonishment, and fear.

"What are you doing here?" Lin Jin asked in a deep, hoarse voice. He looked around, gripping the doorknob, and seeing no one else, he raised his voice and called out, "Zhou Ran! Zhou Ran!"

Secretary Zhou was not there, and Lin Jin called him several times, but she couldn't get him to come.

She dragged her injured foot to Cheng Sangluo, grabbed her collar, and pulled her into the reception room.

Cheng Sangluo was still immersed in the shock of realizing that the person in her dream was Lin Jin, and did not notice that the other party's emotions were not right.

She was pulled back two steps and stumbled as she followed him through the door.

Lin Jin led her to the reception table, and as he turned to lash out, he was met with an unprecedentedly warm embrace.

Half of her face was covered by Cheng Sangluo's strong arms, and the warm embrace engulfed her, causing her simmering anger to vanish.

"It's you...it's you...it was you all along..." Cheng Sangluo whispered, her voice trembling with sobs. "I asked you if we had known each other for a long time, but you never gave me an answer. How could I not have thought of that...how could I have been so stupid?"

She buried her face deep in Lin Jin's neck, her arms tightening their embrace as if afraid that if she loosened her grip, the person in her arms would disappear.

This time, it was Lin Jin who was puzzled.

She couldn't understand what the puppy was saying. While wondering how the dog had found her, she also wondered what "it's you" meant.

Lin Jin pursed her lips, still not revealing the fact that they had known each other for a long time. The time and place were wrong, so they shouldn't have brought it up at this moment.

So where does this damn feeling of a long-awaited reunion come from?

In her eyes, Cheng Sangluo had become very different; her hugs and gazes were filled with a sense of cherishing her as if she had found a treasure.

Lin Jin felt a little pain from being strangled, and her brows furrowed, but she endured the pain without screaming, probably because she was enjoying Cheng Sangluo's intense love.

Cheng Sangluo reached out and cupped Lin Jin's face in her hands, examining it intently. As she gazed at it with rapt attention, her eyes curved into crescents, revealing a heart full of contentment and joy.

This face is like a rose that never fades, beautiful and exquisite. Paired with that haunting image, everything makes sense.

"I'm so stupid... Oops... How come I didn't think of that..."

As Lin Jin listened to the puppy's incessant rambling and was about to ask what was going on, the man impatiently leaned closer to his lips.

"Don't talk," Cheng Sangluo whispered, her fingertips caressing the cheek of the person she loved. She then glanced down at the injured foot and simply picked the person up and carried them to the reception table.

Lin Jin had just recovered from an illness and was feeling listless and tired. Cheng Sangluo's sudden appearance at Zhongyao Technology slightly disrupted her plans.

She placed her hands behind her back, silently savoring everything that was happening, and quickly adapted to the changes.

Lin Jin didn't blame Cheng Sangluo for coming to find her on her own initiative, because she needed Cheng Sangluo at this moment. Cheng Sangluo was her life-saving medicine, so the hug had to be passionate and the kiss had to be fiery so that she could get out of the uncontrollable illness.

Cheng Sangluo placed her hands on either side of Lin Jin, pulling her tightly into her arms, and placed her first kiss on her ear.

She inhaled Lin Jin's scent with rapt attention, whispering as she kissed him, "Let me kiss you properly, and after I've kissed you enough, I'll slowly confess and apologize to you... Then you can punish me however you want..."
