Chapter 3
Do you like the surprise I prepared for you?
The flowing light from the crystal chandelier streamed down Cheng Sangluo's flushed face, and the sharpness in her lowered eyes had long since been softened.
She slumped weakly in the sofa, sobbing feebly, "Water...give me water..."
"Want some water? Beg me~" Lin Jin teased, pressing his knee against the spasming waist and abdomen, his fingertips tracing the taut abdominal muscles, enjoying the ultimate pleasure.
Overwhelmed with emotion, she wrapped her arms around Cheng Sangluo's nape, her delicate lips lightly brushing against his high, straight nose. "Or... how about you play a game with me..."
This madwoman is like a knife wrapped in honey, weaving an inescapable predicament that leaves one feeling utterly hopeless.
Cheng Sangluo's pupils contracted sharply, and the rich scent of cedarwood filled her nostrils, permeating every nerve and quietly dispelling her reason.
She struggled to turn her head away, resisting Lin Jin's warmth and the soft touch, fearing the betrayal brought about by her primal instincts.
"If the dog misbehaves, it won't have any water to drink." Lin Jin pinched her chin, her smile becoming even more alluring. "I almost forgot, I specially prepared a gift for our meeting. Want to know what it is?"
"......"
Cheng Sangluo gritted her teeth, her breathing rapid and erratic. She was so hot that all she wanted to do was take off her thick bathrobe.
But she dared not speak out, fearing that Lin Jin would discover her thoughts and bring about terrifying consequences.
Lin Jin raised the corners of her eyes, satisfied with the puppy's resistant yet helpless expression.
She placed a passionate kiss on his furrowed brow and coaxed him affectionately, "Be good, I'll be right back."
"Where are you going..." Cheng Sangluo tried to stop the departing figure, but fell heavily onto the carpet.
"Are you so reluctant to let me leave?" Lin Jin curled her blood-stained lips, glanced at the puppy's disheveled appearance, and couldn't help but rub her face with her toes. "Don't be impatient, the night is very long."
In the vast living room, only the dull ticking of the European-style grandfather clock remained, gradually eroding Cheng Sangluo's psychological defenses.
Lin Jin had only been gone for half a minute, but it felt like she had been adrift for an entire lifetime.
When the madwoman returned to the living room, she was wearing a collar with a thin iron chain wrapped around her palm.
Cheng Sangluo's forehead pressed against the sofa cushions, her breathing growing heavier.
The cold chains, much like handcuffs, wove a nightmare of imprisonment, shackled her past.
A burning sensation shot through her wrist, triggering a spasm in her stomach. She suppressed a strong urge to vomit, muttering, "Disgusting...pervert..."
But as soon as the words left her mouth, Cheng Sangluo regretted them.
At this critical juncture, provoking a madman will only bring suffering upon yourself.
Lin Jin's fingertips paused on the edge of the collar, and she chuckled softly: "Silly, don't you understand the principle of being a fish on the chopping block?"
She knelt down and gently put the collar on Cheng Sangluo, her voice full of anticipation: "A dog should have its own collar, of course. Do you like it?"
Seeing that the puppy didn't respond, she tugged hard, "Say something!"
Cheng Sangluo pursed her lips tightly, and was pulled so hard that she lost her balance and fell forward.
Lin Jin hugged her tightly, dotingly saying, "Don't you like this style? I'll get you a better one next time~"
As she spoke, she straddled Cheng Sangluo's lap, her fingertips tracing his face, moving inch by inch.
With her chapped lips gazing at him, Lin Jin's deep eyes revealed a subtle, profound affection.
She lowered her head and murmured, "You look so delicious, it makes me want to taste...what you're like..."
The tender kisses, like fine raindrops, landed on Cheng Sangluo's eyebrows, cheeks, and nose, but never invaded her imagined lips.
Cheng Sangluo frowned, resignedly closed her eyes, and secretly hated herself for ending up in such a miserable state.
"Hiss—" She suddenly opened her eyes, a piercing pain shooting through her neck, her wheat-colored skin marked with teeth marks from broken skin.
Lin Jin bit down hard, her expression a mixture of jealousy for the bonsai, the melancholy of unrequited love, and a perverse obsession that defied explanation.
"Lin Jin!!!"
Cheng Sangluo suddenly erupted.
That sudden roar echoed through the large living room, shattering the undercurrent of passion in the night.
Thanks to the whole bottle of mineral water I drank, the medicine's effects were inadvertently diluted.
Although he hadn't fully recovered his strength, he was more than capable of suppressing the frail, crazy woman.
She hoisted Lin Jin onto her shoulder and threw her roughly onto the sofa.
Before Lin Jin could react, the chain was already wrapped around her neck, the force of which was so strong that she couldn't breathe for a moment.
Pressed down on the sofa and unable to move, she showed no sign of panic. Even though she was having difficulty breathing, she still laughed heartily.
"You indiscriminate madman, what are you laughing at?!"
Cheng Sangluo became hysterical; the more arrogant his smile, the more enraged she became.
The chains were tangled around their necks, pulling and tugging, neither side willing to let go.
Lin Jin's face flushed crimson, her lips parted slightly: "Do you... know... that when a person is suffocating... they experience pleasure... it feels really good..."
Even though she was on the verge of death, she still spoke lightly and even offered a gentle hug with her arms outstretched.
She soothed the stiff back, her voice weak and strained: "Out of prison... happy... Cheng Sangluo..."
Cheng Sangluo was stunned, unsure whether the 'happy release from prison' had brought her back to her senses or if the touch of his palm was too warm.
She quickly loosened the chains, her fingertips trembling as she rubbed Lin Jin's neck. "Why didn't you resist... why did you hug me... do you know, I almost killed you!"
Cheng Sangluo roared out of control, her questioning concealing her apology.
She's the one who should be humiliated!
"Cough cough cough..." Lin Jin frantically inhaled fresh air, which triggered a violent coughing fit.
Cheng Sangluo's anger did not subside. She grabbed the bathrobe belt and tied it tightly around her wrist.
Lin Jin maintained her flippant smile and continued to tease, "What, are you having fun?"
Cheng Sangluo originally intended to give a small retaliation and then leave.
The crazy woman's words reignited the anger that had been so hard to suppress.
"Disgusting! People like you deserve to die!"
She picked up the decanter with one hand and pinched Lin Jin's jaw with the other, then retaliated by chugging down red wine.
Crimson wine spilled from Lin Jin's lips, a wild allure amidst her disheveled state.
"Cough cough...cough cough cough..." She gasped for breath, choking so hard that her eyes welled up with tears, and her pitiful expression was gradually replaced by a feeling of pleasure.
She was actually enjoying it, enjoying the brutality of the person in front of her, enjoying the tension between their bodies.
Cheng Sangluo threw away the hangover bottle and shoved her down viciously, "Hopeless!"
Lin Jin collapsed, utterly exhausted, her hair clinging to her lips, her slender neck stained with wine.
Several flashes of white light streaked past the window; the summer night rain was torrential, bringing with it rolling thunder.
Cheng Sangluo hurriedly changed back into her own clothes, and as she tore away the certificate, she turned to stare at the disheveled Lin Jin.
That crazy woman, just looking at her makes me feel disgusted.
Seeing the puppy about to leave, Lin Jin struggled with her wrist, finally managing a forced smile, "Cheng Sangluo... come back..."
Cheng Sangluo hurriedly changed her shoes, a hoarse growl coming from behind her.
"Cheng Sangluo!"
"Come back!"
"Don't go...stay with me..."
Cheng Sangluo pushed open the door while holding onto the handle, then suddenly stopped.
It wasn't that she was soft-hearted; she just couldn't understand why this woman, who wasn't even afraid of death, would suddenly become so panicked and helpless.
Lin Jin's roar gradually trembled, and after several claps of thunder, it turned into a pleading sob.
"Cheng Sangluo...stay with me...it's thundering...it's thundering..."
*
On a sweltering summer afternoon, the glaring sunlight beat down relentlessly on the concrete jungle.
Inside the senior management meeting room of Senyao Group, however, the atmosphere was chillingly cold.
Lin Jin wore a pearl-white silk shirt and charcoal gray suit trousers, exuding an undeniable sense of authority.
At this moment, she sat sideways in the chairman's seat, her pen repeatedly poking at the title page of the proposal, her mind wandering elsewhere.
After the venture capital director finished analyzing the financing plan, a brief silence fell over the room.
He mistakenly thought his boss was dissatisfied with the plan, and cautiously asked, "Mr. Lin, is there anything else you'd like to add?"
Lin Jin paused, then spoke after a few seconds: "Make another backup plan and give it to me tomorrow. Meeting adjourned."
The lengthy meeting finally ended, and the executives breathed a sigh of relief, gradually escaping the oppressive atmosphere.
Lin Jin rubbed his temples wearily, and looked at the words on the title page, then felt a wave of mental confusion wash over him.
Those densely packed characters for "Cheng" were like her obsession, or an incurable addiction, always finding a way to invade her nerves.
The secretary, who was waiting nearby, leaned over and asked, "Mr. Lin, would you like lunch arranged now?"
"No, thank you." Lin Jin really had no appetite. Before getting up to leave, she ordered coffee, "A hot Americano, please."
...
Lin Jin's office is on a floor with excellent natural light and a great view.
The space, spanning over 300 square meters, not only includes a tea room for receiving guests and an entertainment area, but also a fully equipped rest suite hidden behind a secluded door in the corner.
The vast space, with only black and white tones, gives a feeling of emptiness and coldness.
The only splash of color was the daisies placed next to the monitor.
Back in her office, Lin Jin didn't rush to process the documents, but instead leaned against the table to admire the increasingly full bloom of the flowers.
As she ran her fingertips over the blooming petals, a wistful yet self-deprecating smile crept across her face.
Unable to bear not knowing how the puppy was doing lately, I mocked myself for being jealous of the flower, yet still taking good care of it.
She was so engrossed that even when her secretary approached with coffee, she couldn't pull herself out of her reverie.
"Mr. Lin, your coffee." The secretary gently put down the cup, noticing her boss's tired appearance, and cautiously asked, "Should we cancel the afternoon's schedule?"
"We'll talk about it later, you can go out now."
Lin Jin dismissed his secretary, picked up his coffee and took a small sip. The intense bitterness exploded on his tongue, causing him to furrow his brow slightly.
As I strolled to the floor-to-ceiling window, my gaze wandered aimlessly, and before I knew it, my thoughts were drawn to the person in my mind.
Several days have passed since the pool party, and there's not much time left in the seven-day bet, but that person hasn't made a single move.
"Why is he so stubborn? He won't give in at all." Lin Jin sighed helplessly, her smile more bitter than coffee.
Outside the glass curtain wall, the rising heat made the air sticky and thick.
A tall figure descended from the sky, appearing before Lin Jin's eyes like a rudimentary version of Spider-Man, clawing and scrambling against the glass.
Lin Jin paused for a moment, then her dark eyes gradually brightened.
Every time that handsome face came into view, it would stir up a flutter in my heart, filling me with a sense of joy and novelty.
She raised her hand and touched the rough palm of the other hand, an incredulous smile spreading across her face—a smile that echoed her long-cherished wish.
But soon, the joy of the chance encounter was replaced by immense fear.
Lin Jin lowered her eyes to look at the abyss below, her fingertips holding the cup trembling slightly, her heart heaving with nervousness.
She held her breath and shook her head slightly, pleading with pursed lips, "Don't move...please don't move..."
Outside the glass window.
Cheng Sangluo wore a bright yellow safety helmet, with a complicated safety rope around her waist.
The high-altitude air currents swayed the ropes, causing her body to swing from side to side.
The sun beat down on the glass, scorching and blinding. Work clothes were soaked with sweat, and large beads of sweat dripped from faces.
She pulled a cleaning spray gun from the bucket under her waist, sprayed it twice on the glass, and then deftly wiped away the foam with a scraper.
"One, two, three, four, one, two, three, four, like a song; green barracks, green barracks taught me..."
Despite the scorching sun that could cause heatstroke and the sheer drop beneath her feet, she sang military songs with fervor, brimming with enthusiasm for life.
