Chapter 17: Living in an Uninhabited Village (1/2)

After lunch, everyone continued on their journey. Liu Juntao supported Wang Hao, while Wang Li and Han Ya carried most of the things. They walked for an afternoon and passed by a village. Everyone planned to stay in the village for one night.

The village was eerily quiet, without even a single person in sight. When she entered, she saw corpses everywhere. Although Wang Li had killed people before, it was only one or two. Although many people had died in the village, at that time there were tenants collecting the bodies, so she did not face them directly.

She could only suppress the fear in her heart. Liu Juntao and Wang Hao said that the Japanese might have raided the village, and there might still be people in the mountains or in the cellar.

After discussing it, we decided to go to someone's house on the mountainside to clean up the mess, rest for a night, and then bury the bodies. If the Japanese came, we would just run up the mountain.

You will see corpses after walking a few steps. It is not uncommon to see so many corpses in the chaotic world. If you cannot adapt, you will not be able to survive in this world.

Han Ya was frightened and held Wang Li tightly, her hands still shaking.

It was not easy for him to reach the last house. The door was open and there was no one in the yard. He searched the house for a long time but still couldn't find anyone. Liu Juntao went to the woodshed and found a cellar. There were three dried pheasants and a bag of potatoes in the cellar.

We locked the gate and started to make a fire to cook. We heard from them that the Japanese had just raided the area and there was probably no one around, so we would just have a quick meal tonight and leave after burying the bodies the next day.

I didn't bring anything else. I just chopped up the bacon, cooked a pot of porridge, steamed eight rice balls, steamed a dried pheasant, and steamed some potatoes, preparing a meal for everyone.

Wang Hao's wound was a little inflamed. He was hit by two bullets that time. This man was quite a runner. His old wounds were not healed yet, but he got new ones.

There is an unfamiliar person here, and I don't dare to wipe him with alcohol, for fear of exposing myself for him. It would be bad if others feel that I am extraordinary.

Everyone had a good meal tonight. Liu Juntao said he would keep watch, so Wang Li asked Han Ya to go out and keep watch with him, wanting to see if Wang Hao's injury was serious.

Wang Hao thought to himself, Big Sister, don't you think I'm right? Sending me away, don't you want to do anything to me? Now my leg is not healed yet, and the wound is inflamed, so I can't do anything.

Just as I was daydreaming, Wang Li said, "Take off your clothes."

Wang Haohao said: "Sister, sister, if you don't care about me now, I'm still injured. Sister, do you know that I like you?

Wang Li was so angry that she laughed, "What are you thinking? In my eyes, you are still a child. I treat you as my child. You are such a mess. I asked you to undress so that I could see the inflamed area and apply some medicine."

Wang Hao said: "Sister, how can I be a child? Am I not only two years younger than you? How can I be a child?

Wang Li thought to herself, I am fifty-three years old in my heart and thirty-two in my body, but I always forget that I am thirty-two. I really treat him like a child. He doesn't think that I am interested in him, does he?

No, I don’t like children. Stop thinking about it and spray some medicine on him and let him rest for a while.

Wang Li said: "Close your eyes and I will apply the medicine for you. Don't worry if it hurts."

I quickly cleaned the wound with alcohol and sprayed some Yunnan medicine spray on it.

Wang Li said, "When you get to Shanghai, give me money for food, medicine, and errands. I won't wait on you."

Wang Hao said: "I will give you all my money when we get to Shanghai."

Wang Li said, "Take a rest and stop thinking about it."

Outside, the two of them built a fire, and Liu Juntao asked, "Little girl, aren't there so many of you? Where did you go?"

The silly girl said, "They all took the train and left me and my aunt behind. I bought them clothes, provided them with food, and bought them train tickets. They are all idiots. They didn't even take me with them when they got on the train. They are all bad people without conscience. You are also bad people. You ate our food and didn't even pay for it."
