Chapter 25 The Yellow Bird Behind (1/2)

It was already eight o'clock when Wang Li woke up. Han Ya used the leftover rice from fleeing the famine to cook a casserole of porridge and made six pancakes.

He was sitting there waiting for Wang Li to have dinner together.

Wang Li fetched water to wash and brush her teeth, and then cleaned up for the two of them to eat. After they finished eating, Wang Li said, "Girl, just lock the door. I'm going out to buy something."

Silly girl: "Auntie, I want to go out too, it's lively outside."

Wang Liyu: "Be obedient. I bought a lot of things today, so I can't invite you. After I clean up our house, I will take you to eat delicious food and to see a play. Today we will divide the work. You clean up the kitchen, sweep the yard, and take care of the house to make sure no one comes in and steals things. After I leave, lock the door and don't open it no matter who calls you.

Wang Li went out and hailed a rickshaw. After getting in, she asked, "Master, where can I buy pots, pans, and utensils? Take me there."

The driver said: "This place is close to Changtai Grocery Store, so it's convenient for you to come and get things."

Wang Liyu: “Thank you, then take me there,” she got off the car in front of the grocery store, paid the fare, and asked the driver to wait.

Wang Li went into the grocery store and looked around. She found a complete range of goods.

The waiter came over to greet her, and Wang Li asked for six bowls and plates, a pair of chopsticks, two large basins, two small ones, a large iron pot, a small iron pot, and a new clay pot because she didn't want the one she had used when she was fleeing from famine. She bought two pot lids, one large and one small, a bucket and a ladle, two pots of oil weighing five kilograms, a teapot, six cups, two large spoons and six small ones, a shovel, a colander, a steamer, soy sauce, seasonings, vinegar, and salt. Wang Li thought to herself that this had more things than a modern supermarket.

Wang Li paid the money and asked the store owner for a backpack. She put all the things in it. If they couldn't fit in, she would put them on the rickshaw later. She ran to the door and called the rickshaw that came with her. She asked him to help call another one and asked if they were willing to take the things. Some drivers were unwilling to do so as they were afraid that the things would be dropped. There was one driver from their hometown who was willing to do so.

Wang Li took one car, and the other car was carrying things. They stood at the door and asked people to open it. The two people also helped put the things into the kitchen.

Wang Li also instructed Han Ya to take good care of the house. She also had to go buy quilts and order clothes, and hurriedly paid the two coachmen.

Wang Li went to a nearby tailor shop and ordered two cheongsams and a skirt. She also went to a nearby shoe store and ordered two pairs of leather shoes.

I hailed a rickshaw and went to the department store, bought two sets of clothes for Han Ya and one set for herself, and bought two pairs of cloth shoes for Han Ya. I didn't see the quilt, so I thought I would get it from the space when I was almost home.

Wang Li felt a little uncomfortable carrying so many things in her hands, so she wanted to find a small alley to put the things away and go eat something. Now it was almost five o'clock in the afternoon, and she was so busy that she forgot to eat lunch.

I walked into a small alley and went a little further inside. I was afraid that someone might see me from outside, so I went to a doorway in front of me, which was good for blocking other people's sight.

Wang Li walked over, looked around and saw no one, so she quickly threw the things into the space, thinking to herself that she was exhausted.
