Chapter 65 On the Train (1/2)

On August 18, 1954, Wang Li finally boarded the "ordinary train" to Nanjing.

Almost all the passengers on this train were ordinary people. The seats were very uncomfortable and there was no food for sale on the train. Passengers had to buy their own snacks. There were not even berths.

Wang Li sat by the window and waved goodbye to the morning light on the platform.

The train started slowly, the train started moving ...

Wang Li sat on a wooden stool, feeling very uncomfortable. She looked up and saw people everywhere. Some were sitting on sacks, some were sitting on the floor in the aisle, and some were lying under the stools.

The only electrical appliance in the car is a big speaker, which sounds quite old-fashioned.

Look at the older sister sitting opposite, wearing a green apron and a floral top with a red background and yellow flowers, full of the feel of the times.

He looked at the man sitting on his right. He had gray hair, wore a pair of glasses, had a crew cut, was holding a black leather bag in his arms, and was wearing a gray Zhongshan suit. It was obvious that he was either a teacher or a scholar.

There was a little girl sitting diagonally opposite. She had a rosy face and two long braids that were black and shiny. She wore a red scarf around her neck and a small clip on her head. She wore a blue top with floral patterns, black pants, and black cloth shoes.

Sitting next to him was a girl of sixteen or seventeen, with a strand of hair slightly flying, long slender eyebrows, a pair of charming eyes, a straight nose, and a slightly flushed face.

The people sitting next to me are all nice. If they had stayed there all the time, I would have felt at ease. The seats are already uncomfortable to sit in, and it would have been bad if a few weirdos had sat there.

I felt relieved and looked outside the car window. The autumn wind had already risen, and the sound of rustling leaves on both sides of the railway track came in waves, like a tide, like heavy rain, like a galloping horse. The autumn rain fell down, and if you listened carefully, it sounded like silkworms eating mulberry leaves, rustling, and then dripping.

I took out the family portraits that Shuya had drawn from my bag. There were portraits of two people, three people, four people, and each family. She drew all the people in our family based on her father's description. It was a thick book. I usually never looked at it carefully, but this time I took it with me as I felt bored on the train.

She also said that she wanted to be the editor-in-chief of comic books when she grew up, and asked her family to collect stories for her everywhere.

I thought it was just a kid's talk, but I didn't expect the little girl to be so serious. As long as it was a story that attracted her, she would draw it and make up lines.

Fortunately, she loves to wander around, and I have some TV dramas I watched before and remembered their plots, so I told her a few of them, such as Journey to the West, Sanmao's Wanderings, and Dongzi. These are enough for her to write for a while.

I hope she has been busy writing comic strips these days and has forgotten that her grandmother has passed away. Otherwise, this child is too sentimental.

The man sitting on Wang Li's right kept looking at her secretly. Although this woman was not dressed well, she had a different temperament.

While Wang Li was drinking water, he asked, "Sister, where are you from and what are you looking at?"

Wang Li looked at the other person and thought to herself, you are a man and I am a woman in her forties, what language do we have and what are you asking?

Wang Li raised her head and looked at the other person, then said calmly, "Just go for it, I haven't decided where to go yet, I'm just reading a comic book.

"Comic strip."

"I've never heard of comic books. What kind of books are they?"

The man looked at Wang Li with a puzzled look.

"These are drawn by kids, with some little stories written on them." Wang Li gave him a look that said, "You haven't seen the world."

The man smiled and said, "Are you alone? You are here to look after the children. I am here to look after my daughter."

The girl across from me was also awake. She looked over and wanted to hear from the people around her where they were from and if there was anyone from the same place who could be a companion when she went out.

"My nephew, the conductor of this train, took me around. It's liberated now, so I'd better go out and see the beautiful mountains and rivers of our motherland.

"Well, that's good. You should go shopping when you have the chance."
