Chapter 7: The Shock of the Ruined Temple (2/2)

"Damn it, sister, you take a rest. I'll keep watch first and the other three will be on guard in the second half of the night," said Liu Jia.

"Hey, no problem, just remember me." Zhao Sanniu replied with his eyes narrowed.

Wang Li couldn't sleep, so she let Han Ya lie next to her. She wanted to go into the space and take a look, but after looking left and right, she realized that the place was too small and it was not convenient for her to enter the space since everyone was around her.

I used my spiritual sense to enter the space and tidy it up. The space was too messy. I sorted the things and placed them on the shelves. The things I bought before were also piled there. I remembered to stock up on buns. I wanted to eat fruit. I had porridge every day since I came here. I was about to vomit.

It's quite difficult to sneak some food. The silly girl follows him closely every day, and he is always afraid of losing her. This girl is also pitiful. When she heard that her father had passed away, she cried so much that she had a fever and almost burned her brain.

I look a little silly now. My name used to be quite cute, but now I’m used to calling her silly girl and I have forgotten my previous name.

Once we get to a safe place, we have to find a way to make up for everyone, especially the silly girl. The others are all nice people too, and they are all kind-hearted. If they take away the car and things now, there's nothing we can do. This is not a society ruled by law.

I was thinking while working, and I fell asleep while thinking.

I woke up from the cold in the middle of the night. It was still a little cold on the mat. The temple was very quiet at night. I looked outside and saw that the moon was round and bright.

Suddenly, there were gunshots, horse hooves, and noise outside, and everyone in the dilapidated temple woke up.

Wang Li got up and asked everyone to get up and pack their things. The Liu family packed their things skillfully, but Zhao Sanniu's wife was so scared that her hands were shaking.

Zhao Wangjia pulled his mother and said, "There seems to be a cellar behind you. Let's hide in the cellar."

Wang Li was very angry when she heard that. If the Japanese or bandits came in, they would be wiped out.

He shouted, "No, if it's the devils or bandits, we are enough to kill them. Let's pull the car onto the expressway and go to the river ahead. The grass is tall by the river."

Zhao Sanniu put out the fire with water and swept the ground with a broom. Everyone rushed to the river.

"Sanniu, have your children take the things, and you go back and pick up the grass we trampled. The moon is too bright today, otherwise the bandits will be able to see the marks we left and know where we went."

Han Ya drove the carriage, and everyone carried their things. Soon they reached the riverside, pulled the carriage into the thatched roof, and everyone ran in.

Wang Li whispered: "Let's go up a little bit and leave this place, otherwise the bandits will come looking for water and we will be in trouble."

We are all ordinary people, and we have no weapons.

Liu Wangjia looked at Wang Li and whispered to her aunt, "Aunt, don't talk anymore, or the Japanese will hear it! The young master was shot in the leg, and I don't know what happened. And my father is also injured."

After saying that, he stopped talking and felt sad.

Far away from the dilapidated temple, everyone sat on the ground, covered their mouths, and pricked up their ears to listen to the sound, but now they could not hear any sound.

"You guys take a nap. I can't sleep. I'll keep watch." Wang Jia looked at his mother.

"Everyone, get some sleep. We still have to travel tomorrow. Let's try to get to the provincial capital the day after tomorrow."

"When we get to the provincial capital, we can find the master and my wife, and then we won't be afraid of the devils anymore."

It's still a bit cold lying on the mat. It's June now, which should be hot. I guess the bandits will go to the village to collect food in a while. It's such a waste to lose so much food. I'm not strong enough, so I can only run away.

The villagers are not united and do not know how to unite. Otherwise, with so many people in the village, how could they have caught more than 20 bandits and massacred the entire village?

We didn't dare light a fire, firstly because we were afraid the Japanese would see us, and secondly because we were afraid it would catch fire, as this was a thatched hill.

It’s too cold near the water, so I’d better squeeze in with Han Ya. This girl has a lot of flesh on her body and will keep me warm.

Wang Li thought that she would raise me as her daughter from now on.

Don’t think about it anymore and just get some sleep. I don’t know if I can avoid the Japanese tomorrow.

Unexpectedly, when I was about to fall asleep, I heard the sound of horse hooves and voices coming from the ruined temple.

Wang Li got up, put a bag on the horse's mouth and put some beans in the bag.

Her actions woke everyone up; no one dared to sleep well in the first place.

Everyone covered their mouths together to avoid making any noise, and waited for those people to leave quickly.
